Wait. WTF is that house ornament here for? Because I said so. Because I wanted to have something holiday flavored in there. Because woodmouse is one of the things I did before I did, um, this and had no time left to do that. (I reopened my shop on a whim, for the first time in almost three years a few days ago. Though it will close again in three days for the holidays.) As Crappy Boy pointed out, “Mama, your woodmouse stuff actually looks like your crappy pictures stuff.” And although I’ve never thought of it that way, I guess he’s right. So there you have it.
One lucky winner will receive a box from me with all those goodies inside and perhaps a couple more fun things too. Books will be signed. I’ll probably draw pictures. It will be awesome.

Hi, this is going to sound really stalker-ish but I just love everything about you! Your crappy drawings, your sense of humour, your art and especially your blog!! I’m like a kid in a candy store checking it every day, brimming with excitement at the prospect of a new post or whatever else I might find. Today was Christmas and all the fun holidays rolled into one with your awesome giveaway raffle. I live in South Africa (South African and all) and growing up I had something that was a cross between building blocks and puzzle pieces that I loved to play with. They were these thick curved pieces of rubber in all kinds of squiggly shapes and vibrant colours and your cool Christmas tree ornament reminds me of that! You could stack them or entertwine them or make them them fit in all kinds of weird and wonderful ways. Kept us busy for hours. Something about the curves … So thanks for the blast from the past! I don’t have the foggiest idea what they were called, otherwise I would’ve uploaded a link/piccy so that you can see what I mean. Something educational nonetheless. Farkles is male because it sounds like farts, and according to the little girls in my neighborhood growing up, only boys fart.
Now I’m thinking about whether Farkles is a girl or a boy. I think the energy of both, maybe, so that they can be endless and we won’t run out of unicorns.

“Teaching the art of accepting crappy gifts” will always be one of my favorite posts. Probably because my heart still sinks when relatives who have known me my whole life give gifts better suited for themselves, and then I have to put on an oscar-nominated performance for them. Wish they wouldn’t waste their money. Kids are so lucky to get to be sincere and not be chastised for it.
Yup. I would rather get nothing, than a present I regift (usually to an op shop – brand new still in packet/box)
In the last few years tho, I have been giving them back to the giver! … “You obviously like it, and I’m not going to use it, so have it back” =)
It has worked a treat! Now, I get money or something they have already asked if I will find useful. Win!

Recently, my son was home sick and insisted that I read Penis Pizza and Potty Training posts to him – out loud! Dec. 15 is my birthday. No, really. It is. I’m sure this means something, but I’m not sure just what.
