Crappy Pictures has sponsors. Sponsors do giveaways. Crowd Kitchen is doing a giveaway! Yay!
Crowd Kitchen is a FREE service that helps you share food with friends. It is a brilliant concept. Let me explain it…
I make a big huge batch of lasagna. My friend makes a big huge batch of yellow curry.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could swap our leftovers? (By “leftovers” I’m not talking about gross, half-eaten food. I’m visualizing making a double batch. Same amount of work.)
We could switch! That means I only cooked one night, swapped with my friend and wound up with two home-cooked meals. Freezer-friendly and packed up in food sharing containers that nobody has to worry about returning.
This is a scenario I’ve daydreamed about. But it has never happened. Why? Because I’m busy. Because my friends are busy. I’m not sure if I could handle all the back and forth emails and coordinating.
Enter Crowd Kitchen. That is exactly what it does! It is like a social media platform for food sharing among friends. You post what you have available and your friends post what they have available. When someone takes your dish you get “meal tickets” that you “spend” to take a dish from another friend. (This ensures that people don’t just nab meals without ever reciprocating, which would be lame.)
Also? It sounds FUN! I could see groups of friends and organizations having a blast with this. How awesome would it be to cook double batches once or twice a week and then swap meals with friends?
Crowd Kitchen is giving away a $50 gift certificate to their store, where they offer fabulous food-swapping friendly cookbooks and food storage containers. Would be a great way to get you started!
Please visit Crowd Kitchen!

This sounds awesome – what a great idea!
Love the concept!! Who doesnt waespsnt less time in the kitchen, especially during those hot summer months!
Sounds like a neat idea!
Sounds cool. Thanks!
Fun idea!
And a good way to try new foods without worrying about having leftover ingredients you might not use again if you don’t really like it.
Interesting idea. I have been involved with similar things where it is like a dinner party, but everyone brings a big meal and lots of tupperware containers. Everyone gets to try a little of everyone else’s (to see what you like) then at the end you fill up your tupperware and have 5 or 6 different meals for the week, and only had to make one thing. It was a lot of fun! Crowd Kitchen sounds like less work trying to organize everything though.
Parker, Crowd Kitchen has a tool to organize swap parties like these…guests can RSVP with the dish they plan to bring to avoid duplicates. Hope your group finds it useful !
Cool, thanks Heather. The RSVP with the planned dish really would be helpful. There are usually at least two (or more) lasagnas that show up!
Interesting. I could definitely use this.
Cool! Perfect for busy moms.
Love the idea! Sometimes we have days and days of leftovers. Of course, I’m not sure who would want to share my cooking, which I describe as, um, “rustic” at best.
It’s like a potluck with neighbors! How cool!
I love this idea
Neat!
Sounds yummy ๐
this. is. awesome. now, to share with my friends so I can actually swap!
Parker, Crowd Kitchen has a tool to organize food swapping events like that too! Guests RSVP with the dish they plan to bring to avoid duplicates.
That is amazing! My friends and I have talked about something similar for baby showers, on a regular basis is a brilliant idea!
Great idea!! Wish I’d thought of it ๐
Who doesnt like free food? Is it cheating if I make my husband cook one of the meals?
Definitely not cheating. In fact, he should be doing some of the cooking anyway!
Sounds like a good planin theory.
I love potluck and food sharing!
Another unique company! How fun! Thanks for the giveaway ๐
Neat idea! Sounds especially handy for those meals no one else in the family likes.
This sounds really cool
That sounds like a really cool idea!

Sounds very interesting! I’ll have to check it out!
sounds like a great idea!
This sounds like a lot of fun! On my way to check it out now.
interesting. I wonder how it would work with food allergies.
Jenny, each dish can be marked to indicate if it is gluten free, peanut free, dairy free, vegan, or vegetarian in an effort to help those with food restrictions find meals that fit their requirements. Look for the icons by each dish!
Crowd Kitchen sounds like an interesting idea. Now if I only knew other people nearby who cook. Also, I would have to cook lol
So fun! Pick me please!! ๐
Cool!
Cool idea!
With 4 kids in our house, this would be great! ๐

Oooh! There’s some freezer friendly books I’ve been wanting. This would be perfect! Thank you.
Yummy Yum
I have been wanting to coordinate this with my group of friends, and most of us are daunted by the idea of making sure it’s a fair & easy process. Thanks for the new resource!
I am curious how this works…

omigosh! Amazing idea!!! Clever indeed!
This is such a great idea! I love to cook, but mostly cook for myself because my fussy 4 year old is mostly interested in eating macaroni and cheese and my partner and I don’t tend to like many of the same foods. I end up freezing lots of leftovers and getting kind of bored of them. Can’t wait to try this out…
Wow, this sounds pretty neat. I’d love to try it! ๐
That is a great idea. Now Got to get friends close by to join.
I’m not sure I’m a good enough cook for people to want my food… but it’s a stellar idea.

I totally have the curry. With golden raisins. So yeah, send the $50 gift certificate my way, please!
Great idea!
So want to do this!
Oh please let this comment be the random # generated……..
Can I still enter even if I don’t cook? I make my husband do the “hard” work around here (cooking), while I’m tending to the Small Creature, which is “totally easy” by comparison, right? Hahaha!
But what will we do with all our free time? This could be dangerous.
do they take away vouchers if you didn’t LIKE the meal? or someone doesn’t like your meal? hmm…
I could use some cookbooks ! My toddler’s doomed to a life of grilled cheese and spaghetti. Haha
For my baby shower my friends threw a stock the freezer party. It’s been great! But my supply is running low so I’d love to keep the freezer stocked. ๐
Busy mom here who would love to try this out!
What an awesome idea!!
Anything to do with food… I’m in.
Awesome idea – I hope I win!
This sounds awesome! So much easier than cooking every night and hopefully it would keep us from falling back on fast food. Thanks for the giveaway!
What a great idea!
Whaaaaaat?! Awesome!!!

What a fabulous idea! I’m signing up right now. I’m going to send the link to my friends too.
Nifty!
What a cool idea! Love it!
That sounds like fun!
It is interesting concept. I checked my wife if she is willing to do it and she says no. It is too much hassle to travel back and forth and she is just happy to cook for herself with less variety. How about sharing recipe of their best dishes?
Fun idea!
Wow, what an awesome idea!
This is an amazing idea!!!
Sounds fun!
Sounds like such a cute idea!
Wow…what a cool website, and without much work. I can’t wait to take a look at it and suggest to my mom’s group! It is such a great concept, without extra work…and you can try some new dishes. LOVE IT!
This is a brilliant idea!
Even if I can’t do the friend-share thing, I may need to invest in some of these cookbooks to share with future me. I would love to be able to put some dinners in the freezer for those nights that cooking is just not a good idea (because of time, my mood, the kids’ moods, etc.).
Great idea! Would love to try it out.
What an awesome idea!
My friends and I do this a lot already but I’ll have to check the website out. Maybe it can help us coordinate.
Interesting concept!
Good idea

Sounds neat!
This is such a great idea, thanks for sharing about all these new businesses!

Interesting, what happens if you do not like the food?
I love it!
I would love to start this with my mommy group, thanks for introducing me!
While I don’t cook, I still love the idea of this. You think I could trade TJs meals for home cooked ones? lol
Sounds really cool.

How brilliant!! I love it!
Great idea!
Interesting concept…bring on the food!
Pick me Pick me!!! This sounds like so much fun, but I need some good meal ideas before I start sharing food with my friends. I would hate to trade a great meal for some yucky thing I’ve made. I’m pretty sure no one would swap with me again ๐
I’d like to give this a try. =)
That is such a great idea!
This is a great idea!
With baby number 2 on the way, and living in two different places every month. I would love to win! My life could use less cooking!
Sounds like a great idea! I can’t wait to try it.
Cooking less and eating more? Sign me up! ๐

What a fantastic idea! Can’t wait to start using it ๐
Sounds great! I definitely need to cook more!

This sounds fantabulous!! This would be great as I’ve just relocated to a new city and could use the power of the webs to assist with meal swapping.
Great idea!
What a cool idea!!
Such a great idea! The only problem would be picky eaters. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m wondering if it might work for friends/neighbors who are laid up and need meals?
Laurie, Crowd Kitchen has a tool for organizing deliveries for friends who need a hand…check out the “Crowd Share” tab on the site!
…sounds like a dream come true!! My hubby hates leftovers, so I could cook just a bit more than usual and gain a whole new meal for the next night from someone else. WIN – WIN!!

What a neat idea! Love it!
What a great idea! Why didn’t I come up with it??
Love the idea!
Yea! Great Idea!
Umm. Yes, please! I’ve managed to do this a couple of times but it’s been more chance than anything else that both my friend and I were able to make the double batch at the same time and exchange it. Would be awesome to be able to have this more regularly!
Would love this! Trying to spend more time after work with my 2 yr old!
I would love to win this! Between work, law school and 3 children it’d be nice to have a break on cooking sometimes as well!
This would be perfect for many working moms (or those who just need a break). Thanks!
Sounds perfect for us. Hubby does the cooking, which I’m grateful for, but he always seems to think he needs to prepre enough for n army… it’s just the two of us and our 10mo old who just started eating table food.
I love this idea. A double batch is so much easier than cooking another meal. I might see if my friends are into this!
What an amazing idea!!
Why didn’t I think of this? It sounds brilliant!
What a great idea. Love it!!
Oh me please!!
What an awesome idea.
