Zombies: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures (video)

Here is a snippet of conversation that Crappy Baby and I had last week.

It’s about zombies. So probably don’t let your kids watch this one unless they already have zombies hiding under their beds.

Zombies are super hip now which means he learned about them via playground osmosis. Some kids were playing a good, old-fashioned game of zombie chase. While his intel is pretty accurate (zombies eat people!) his conclusion is pretty odd.

I’m scared of my future zombie-in-law.

And here I thought the dog was bad.

LMFAO, “I think we would marry”!

  2. What’s appropriate hor d’evoers for a zombie wedding?

  3. Lauren says:

Can I just say he’s got the sweetest little voice? It’s so interesting and funny to me to hear other people’s accents (or lack of). We live in southeast AL and kids around here play ZAWMBEE chase! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Kami says:

I love the video, but I think you should be very afraid of your future daughter-in-law….I mean…zombie-in-law. He is so cute. (and why are little kids teaching him about zombies? LOL!)

  5. Kbee says:

Pretty sure she’d be just in line with your average, run of the mill daughter in law.

  6. woolies says:

I think it would be great to have zombie in laws. What fun! You’ll never need to wonder what to make for Thanksgiving dinner.

  7. Shell says:

That’s hilarious! My youngest (4) is often talking about Zombies as well, but not as a future wife… he has a LONG list of girls and boys though that are contenders. I’ll never forget my oldest boy (now 8, but probably 2-3 at time he said), telling me he was going to marry Batman because he was rich and had all the cool toys.

  8. Stephanie says:

It’s a mombie-in-law. I am a mombie. Mombies love to chase lite boys and hug their guts out.

    • Jennifer says:

We play that game…my then 3 year old informed me after I was taken down by his older zombie brother I was now a mombie…

    • Lana says:

My eldest, aged three is also obsessed with Mombies. But he doesn’t think they are moms, he just says all Z’s as M’s at the moment. So even daddy would be a mombie. We got a visual art diary and we wrote all sorts of stories with our two boys as the heroes. They help with every story’s writing and I illustrate. the very first story is about zombies, plants and saving a cat. This is their favorite story compilation and was basically free to do.

  9. beth says:

Didn’t he say,”boy zombie?” So Amber is going to have a zombie SON-in-law.

  10. Tiana says:

You should watch the movie ‘Warm Bodies’ – he may not be so far off!

  11. Dannielle says:

hahahahahaha. You are definitely parenting right if he thinks that being a good boy will get him a zombie bride (or groom)

  12. krista says:

Can’t stop laughing. I love the weird things my kids come up with. Please make more of these!

  13. Oh, the boy was SO PSYCHED for this one! He loves your videos, AND he loves zombies. He said he would not marry a zombie. “That won’t work, because it’s gonna eat my brain.”

  14. Melli says:

    *Giggle*

  15. Wendy says:

Hahaha, my almost 5-year-old would agree with Zombies getting married. My almost-3-year-old’s take on the the Zombie fad was wandering around with a Barbie doll who was saying, “Brains for dinner!” in the appropriate zombie-like voice.

  16. Em says:

lol, I think someone on the playground saw the movie “Warm Bodies”

  17. Carla says:

What program are you using to create the video?

  18. amanda says:

my 10 yr old is so fascinated with Zombies. Around the time the world was supposed to end he asked the Walmart guy about the zombie apocolypse and was going on and on about it. Too funny. But of course he then taught my 3 yr old about zombies, not funny at all! Yes zombies were under their bed and gonna eat them, and all of a sudden my good-night sleepers were no more. Ugh thankfully we’re getting to the end of te scared phase and we can now all “play” zombie. Nothing like chasing your kid around with your arms stretched out and funny weird looks on your faces saying “i’m zombie, here to eat you!” Good times haha

  19. Sarah says:

Help Amber! The video is not appearing when I load the page… All I see is a big white gap where the cute and priceless zombie video should be. Feeling sad… Do you post it elsewhere?

  20. Amy says:

Hahahaha I laughed so loud that I had to play it for my husband to hear.

  21. Joanna says:

My 4 year old daughter told me that zombies LOOOOVVVE people the other day. Yeah, I guess that they do love people. Just probably not in they way she was imagining.

  22. Dayna says:

My 4 year old pretends he is a zombie robot he does the robot voice with a touch of zombie thrown in. I told him it was time to take a bath and he said “Zombie Robot is dirty.”

  23. Tracy says:

Hilarious!! My 5 year old told me yesterday that he was going to become a zombie and eat his own brains. Perhaps we should be more careful about who is in the room when we are watching scary movies.

  24. Teresa says:

awww! he’s so cute! I got an amusing zombie conversation with my son recently, too, which I uploaded to Facebook. He wound up reassuring me that they weren’t real.

  25. tara says:

While it is super sweet that he would be willing to marry a zombie, I am concerned about his love life choices ๐Ÿ™‚ just send him over to me when he’s ready to start dating-I can tell him about all the horrible relationships I had before my husband!

    Awesome video!

    • Devan says:

Or send him to me and I will hook him up with one of my daughters…they are way prettier than most zombies and wont eat your brains at all! ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. Nina says:

Oh come on, I am sure there is one or another “nice” Zombie to find in Michael Jacksons “Thriller”…

Good that my little boy (5) does not know of the existance of Zombies yet, he is scared of witches right now (they want to rake him away at nights and due to this he is coming every single night to sleep in our bed – sigh…). I don’t want to know what it would be like with Zombies in his mind…

  27. Felicia says:

He is so precious! I love how kids’ minds work when they are so little and unprogrammed! You should definitely do more posts like this, it really brightened my morning. ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. Lisa says:

Ah yes, the zombie obsession. My kids got it from Plants vs Zombies (an excellent outlet for zombie obsession, not at all scary and then they think zombies only eat plants). My 5-year-old is known to put a bucket on his head and try to eat his brother’s brains.

    • Ariana says:

I love Plants vs Zombies! I’ve watched my sons play it for hours at a time. They play, I watch, like a vacant eyed zombie…

  29. Summer says:

lol, Had to show to to hubby he said “well at least he believes in rights for alternative life styles” ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. Jodie says:

I like that the zombie eats the Mama! Poor Mama.

  31. krtmd says:

Funny. Whenever we drive by the cemetery, my 4 year old tells me that “under the stones is where da’ zombies live”.

  32. Carrie says:

When our little guy first learned about zombies from his older brother we had a few days of confusion around the house. He kept saying that he “didn’t like salamis!” We kept wondering where this sudden aversion to a food we rarely ever have came from. Then it finally clicked that salamis=zombies. They do say never to ask what’s in sausage…..

  33. Sarah Almond says:

I’m so sad that I couldn’t find a video of the finger sandwiches scene from Perfect Strangers. Totally ruined my comment!

You can tell Crappy Baby that I think I may have inadvertently dated a few zombies in my day. I don’t know if they’re the marrying kind, but hey, you never know…

    Thanks for the LOL!

  34. Andrea PB says:

Ha. They play that at our playground too. My daughter hasn’t asked about it, so we haven’t had to have the ‘zombie talk’ yet.

  35. Katrina says:

I’m clearly a bad mom because my kids (6, 4 and 2) know zombies because I showed them the music video to Stephanie Mabey’s The Zombie Song – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPNqub966Tw

We have the song and it’s a favourite for dancing around the house and listening to in the car.

If I cross my eyes and start to moan and lurch, even my barely 2 y/o shrieks and runs before I suck her brains out of her ear. I hope the parents of the other kids on the playground don’t hate me for being the zombie influence. Oops. ๐Ÿ™‚

  36. Tammy says:

Well. At least he’s open minded to all types of relationships.

  37. Jenni says:

I love this almost as much as I love the poop monster discussion. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, if Crappy Baby marries a zombie of either gender, I want an invitation to the wedding. ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Freaking awesome!! Seriously made me chuckle.

  39. Love your post! I still believe in zombies…
I just wrote something about all my ‘music zombie’ troubles on my blog if you have time to check it out
    themusicmenagerie.wordpress.com

  40. courtney s. says:

had a bad day, stopped by to see if there was a new post to make me smile… seem to be less frequent. Hope you are enjoying summer with the boys. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Amanda says:

Yeah I have also been waiting for a new post…I come every day to check…I think the Zombies got her… x_X

  41. Summer says:

It sounds like he must have gotten dragged into the girls playing house while the boys were playing zombie on the playground. Man, I thought Junior High was hard!

  42. Daneen says:

    I can’t see the video! ๐Ÿ™

  43. Teachermom says:

My kids (ages 9 and 13) and I read your blog all the time. We just enjoy your posts, but I never comment. I had to comment on this one, though, because we just spent our summer vacation camping around the country, visiting various places we’ve never been. One of those places happened to be Madison, WI. We hung out on the terrace at Memorial Union, drank Bell’s Oberon ale (which we can’t get in the state where we live,) and enjoyed the scenery. For lunch, we went down to The Old Fashioned for cheese curds and… you got it…burgers and brats. My 13 year old, who is starting to have visions of college in her distant future, began toying with the idea of going to school there. On our way out of town, we also talked to cows and took pictures of farms. Of all the places we visited, Madison tied with Boulder, CO, for top honors. When we came back and saw your blog, my daughter and I both said, “OF COURSE someone as cool as Crappy Mama is from Madison!!” Have a wonderful vacation!

  44. Man how awesome that you have illustrated your life. This is gazillion times better than a photo album.

  45. Vicki says:

My girls are ages 3 and 4 and love Michael Jackson (thanks to Captain EO at Epcot, we live 5 minutes from it) so I showed them a couple videos on youtube, Thriller being one of them. Now they are obsessed with zombies and were insisting that they are real. I tried arguing that they are fake but there is no arguing with a preschooler, so the next best thing I could do is prove it to them. I took each of their photos and popped them into the zombie app on AMC’s Walking Dead website and turned them into zombie’s. They now are convinced they are fake but are still arguing over who is the grosser zombie. ๐Ÿ™‚
