Toy Wish Lists Through the Ages

I’ve noticed that Crappy Boy’s answer to, “What do you want for Christmas?” has evolved a bit over the years. Here’s how…

Age 1

toys-through-ages-1

This year doesn’t count. He didn’t answer. I just wanted to remember that he was age one once.

If he could answer, he would have said “Just get me a cardboard box and some wrapping paper to shred, that’s all I’ll play with anyway.”

Age 2

By age two he could answer:

toys-through-ages-2

Except he’d just name whatever he was currently playing with or holding. His definition of ‘toys’ were the ones he already had.

Age 3

At age three his baby brother (Crappy Baby!) was born.

toys-through-ages-3

His only request was a candy cane for himself and a teddy bear for his baby brother.

His sweetness and generosity made me want to give him seven thousand million presents! I would have given him anything! Anything!

When other people heard his teddy bear request for his baby brother they wanted to give him the world too!

I really thought I was doing the parenting thing right that year.

Age 4

And then four came.

toys-through-ages-4

I don’t really remember what we got him that year but I’m sure it made him mad.

Age 5

By age five there was a major shift. He realized that asking for specific things can get you specific things. And being nice and friendly helps too.

toys-through-ages-5

He went through a toy catalog and circled the things he wanted.

Except he circled everything. On every page.

Age 6

By six he learned that even if you ask for the entire toy store, you won’t actually get the entire toy store.

Plus, you aren’t likely to get the one toy you really want if nobody knows which toy you really want because you asked for fifty different toys.

So he got organized.

toys-through-ages-6

He handed over a multi-page collated, annotated list. In a binder. It was a scrapbook, with a single toy featured on each page. With notes.

It included cut out pictures from toy catalogs, drawings of toys and names of toys that he wrote himself. Then they were ranked. A circle meant he really wanted it. A circle plus a star meant he really, really wanted it. Two stars meant it was the one single thing he wanted most. He even wrote down some things he specifically didn’t want.

It was truly a work of art. I kept it.

Of course it didn’t actually result in any more gifts for him, but he did receive the one double starred thing he really wanted. And the project itself was fun.

Age 7

I thought for sure we’d see a repeat of last year, but so far he hasn’t been very interested. He has a single piece of scrap paper on the wall that has a couple things written down on it but that is about it.

Unless I show him this post of course.

Then he’ll probably ask for a LEGO set for his baby brother.

  1. Leslie F says:

My 4 year old wants a pink van. No she hasn’t seen one before and the size and use changes regularly but that’s what she wants. My 2 year old wants a helicopter or at least that’s what his dad told him to say…. 🙂

  2. Grace says:

I love this! My daughter is two and doesn’t get the whole Santa and Christmas thing yet… every time I ask her what she wants, she says “yeah…” with a smile (which is what she does when she doesn’t know the answer to a question).

    • Angry Dad says:

How old does your kid have to be to know that Santa isnt real?

      • Dee says:

My 11 year old still believes.

      • Amber says:

Every family is different. I don’t think there’s a set age. When I was little, my family ignored the Santa Claus part of Christmas, but some of my friends believed in Santa Claus in early elementary school.

      • Laura Austin says:

Our family has been consistent in its use of “Santa as the Spirit of Christmas.” Makes for an easy transition and a secular yet service based holiday. That way, they never have to stop believing.

        • Angry Dad says:

Really? 11? My 5 year old niece nearly tore my head off when I asked her what she wanted me to get her for Christmas (Jew faux pas) and said “YOU DON’T GET ME PRESENTS SANTA DOES!!!”

      • momofsquirrles says:

well, sometimes your b*tch sister in law tells your 7 year old behind your back…good times.

        • Minnie says:

Funny- I don’t think “believing in Santa Clause” is a big deal at all. I would much rather they know what Christmas is all about in the first place- Christ.

      • Amy says:

        I am 36 and I still believe. 🙂

      • Gabrielle says:

That depends… have they read “Yes, Virginia”? Moves me to tears every time.

“He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.”

      • sandra says:

my 5 year old questioned when he was 4.5 but our rule is if you don’t believe, you don’t get gifts from santa.

    • Elizabeth M says:

We’ve never made a big deal out of Santa either way. Jesus is the point of the season but I am not opposed to the historic Saint Nicholas, a kind and generous man who embodies the spirit of Christmas view of Santa, and I don’t want one of my kids to be THAT kid who ruins the magic for their peers, so we just used to mostly leave the topic alone and give noncommittal answers when our oldest asked. But my, very precocious, now 2 year old, just latched on to the whole Santa thing in a big way last year (he was only 15 m) and that has not let up this year, so we’re just going with it for as long as the “Danta” love lasts. We do most our presents on Christmas eve though and those are the really good ones and they know those are from family, stocking stuffers Christmas morning are the “Santa presents” (that’s how it was when I was a kid too)

  3. Renee says:

Doesn’t matter what they want, I already got them a play kitchen (which has been set up for months) and some accessories to wrap up for under the tree and re-engage them.

    • Trish says:

That doesn’t seem fair! My kids would have never fallen for that, and now with the grand kids….Christmas is very big in our house. Not just for the presents but for remembering what it’s all about.

  4. Amanda says:

I don’t know what to get my 3 and 1.5 year old honestly. There are things I would LOVE to get them…except that costs too much…oh and that too…and no, you already have 5 of those. What I really need is something they can safely and easily expend their energies on…grass. Yep, I checked, we already got that too…

    …I might look into some coal… 😉

  5. Jen says:

It doesn’t matter when I ask, the eldest (4) always wants something that requires feeding and to be kept alive. He gets very sad thinking about all the homeless hermit crabs, iguana, chameleons, cobra snakes and dinosaurs that he could rescue!

Littlest is 18 months. He will just want whatever eldest has!

  6. Leah says:

anything that has to do with horses.

  7. Julia C K says:

My son doesn’t know what he wants, so we’re trying to convince him he wants a camera since that is what Santa is bringing him.

  8. Angelina says:

Craft supplies and animal figures or puppets.

  9. Jen L says:

My daughter wants a toy skunk. I’m not sure exactly where the fascination came from, but it’s easy enough to indulge!

  10. Michelle says:

My son wants an Xbox and my daughter wants anything to do with American Girls!

    • Tammy says:

American girl doll furniture can be made. Check our ana-white.com and search the plan catalogue. I use toys for toy ideas. Most of it can be made so easily. I hope to make the farmhouse beds at gifts this year. I have one done so far

  11. C Smith says:

My older kids give me itemized lists in order of their favorites. They all want electronics. My 4 yr. old wants the entire sales catalog, but she will probably be mad about whatever I get her 😉

  12. Lexi says:

My kids want video games. Bleh.

  13. Miriam says:

Fabulous wooden toys to win… can’t wait for my son’s first proper wish list.

  14. Michelle H says:

My son is not quite 4. He wants EVERYTHING! Ha, but he is very into the Disney Cars characters, so he is getting Flo’s V-8 cafe (purchased 2nd hand… wonder how long I can get away with buying used toys for Christmas?)

    • forever. 😉
i think almost everything we got was second hand, mine are 9 and 3.

    • Dawn says:

My 3 yr old asked for ALL the cars, ALL the trains, toys for the cat and dog, and flowers for Nana. 🙂

    • Dawn says:

Sorry…not sure how that last comment popped in there again. My son received Flo’s V8 Cafe last year from my sister and he loves it! It’s a great gift for a little Cars fan. (Most of the toys under the tree are second hand…saves money and he’s none the wiser!)

  15. meredith says:

Ninjago. Also, a kitchen playset (for the girl who really wouldn’t like it much it at all, but would rather be really cooking in the *actual* kitchen.)

  16. Heather says:

Totally lame and we barely do gifts. But I’m commenting so maybe we’ll increase our gifts this year!

  17. Fuzzy says:

So far, no idea what they want. The oldest is 2 and he doesn’t talk yet, and seems to match Crappy Boy exactly. He wants what is in his line of sight (or his hands) at that moment. The youngest is only 2 months and he seems quite content to eat his bib and fingers. I think we’ll get a tree and just let them enjoy the twinkling lights.

  18. Chelsea says:

My little guy is still at the “shred the paper” stage. We are getting him a bouncy inflatable horse, though, that I think he’ll like, and his grandparents are getting him some kind of walker thing to push around.

  19. Chrissy says:

Our requests have included a pink scooter and a “snowy Christmas puppy.” Sigh. 4 year olds … Pretty particular sometimes

  20. Rachel says:

My son is only 1, so he can’t tell me what he wants. But if he could talk, I’m pretty sure he would want some kind of ride-on or push toy. He spends all day pushing our dining room chairs around, so maybe an actual toy would be good.

  21. It changes daily…my son is in the “circle the whole catalog” stage

  22. Alex says:

My son would be happy with anything that has wheels; he’s super into trucks right now! So he’ll be getting some vehicles and a play kitchen from us 🙂

  23. Shelly :) says:

My son is only 15 months old so he’s getting a play kitchen 🙂

  24. Jessica says:

All my son wants is a hockey net, and when you ask him what presents he might like to give people he insists everyone would want hockey nets too!

  25. Rachel says:

My 3.5 year old daughter wants a pillow (I have no idea where this idea came from) and a camera.

  26. brett says:

my son loves cleaning supplies, so that’s what he wants for christmas (i’m guessing, he’s still a little young to articulate)

  27. Mandy says:

Boy do you have age 4 pegged. I get “I just want coal, no toys” and then “I don’t want coal or toys” and then “Maybe Santa Claus can bring me some trains” and “I don’t want any trains for Christmas.” *Sigh*

  28. Carrie says:

    Anything, it all looks wonderful!

  29. Breenah says:

My daughter asked for a fish about two months ago and I asked what color she wanted. She responded with blue. SHE STILL REMEMBERS. She’s two. I wasn’t expecting her to remember it that long, so it looks like we’re gonna get her a blue fish.

  30. Sam M says:

Our 3-1/2 year old is in the circling everything phase.

  31. Rebecca says:

my2yr old wants whatever she is holding also! can’t wait for the next phases 🙂 She would love some of those wooden sorting toys….

  32. Anne says:

My girls mostly ask for various stuffed animals. My in laws are getting them american girl dolls. I think they are going to be thrilled.

  33. Erin says:

My 7 yr old has a list of only 3 things herself. She helped my 2 yr old pick candy and trains. Which are her loves, and she was holding a train at the time. So accurate!!!

  34. Charlotte says:

My 4 year old wants the entire toy book too! And he’s getting it… or close to it. 😛

  35. Stephanie Klemm says:

My 3 yr old wants a train set. My 3 mo old wants my boobs.

  36. Elizabeth says:

My 2 yo wants “one heli-cotter”. I think Santa will be able to get that!

  37. Tracy says:

    Electrinics. CHA CHING!

  38. Deb says:

My kids are grown, so they just want cash! 🙁

  39. Charity says:

I guess I’m mean because I haven’t asked what they want. They being my 3 year old because my 1 year old resembles the first picture up there. We are getting them a play kitchen and a table for their legos that has a reversible flat side and storage! I’m excited about this table. I know it will change my life, right? Like all the legos will be picked up all the time since, storage!
(I’m actually not that delusional……most of the time)

  40. Toby says:

Oh my – I have been looking for wooden unicorns for my little 5 year old daughter for Christmas. Yours are so lovely! Thank you for the opportunity – it would be such an amazing holiday gift to win!!! 🙂

  41. Amber says:

    pick me~

  42. Liz D says:

My 7yro daughter wants accessories for her beloved dollhouse & my 3yro son wants anything that has to do with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & the Marvel Superheros 🙂

  43. Jen says:

Awww this is great! and as a mom of a 2-year old, I’m melting at seeing the stages they go through!

  44. Tricia says:

My babe’s too young to have an opinion yet (1 mo), but I would have fun picking things out for him if I won.

  45. sally says:

shoot- I wish I’d written down all the toys my son has asked for over the years. I do know that – 2 years in a row (3 year old and 4 year old?- or maybe 2 and 3?) he asked for a race track. even though he did have one by the 2nd time. this year (5yo) he says ’10 lego sets- 4 big sets and 6 little ones….’

  46. teneisha says:

My daughter is 20 months and I have never thought to ask her what she wants! How terrible of me! Im pretty sure, if she understands the question she will say one of a handful of things; Fish, Rio, Bike, Milk, and maybe Waffles 🙂

  47. Jennifer W says:

My 10m old already has her big present from Nana, a learning tower I found on Craigslist. But seeing how it keeps her from going to play with the garbage cans when I’m trying to cook dinner, that is more of a present for me. 🙂 I think we’ll probably get her a bongo drum, maybe that will keep her from trying to drum on the toilet.

  48. Lindsay says:

She’s asking for a basketball… but she confuses basketballs and footballs… We’ll probably go with both, just in case. She’s only 2, so she’d probably be fine with anything 🙂

  49. Laura says:

Our standard response to “Can I have that (ninja figure, Lego Star Wars ship, pet monkey, etc)?” is “We can put it on your wish list, and we’ll see.” 95% of the time that satisfies him and it goes no further…but that list’s getting awfully long!

  50. Amanda B says:

My boys want construction equipment for the backyard this year. It’s pretty adorable.

  51. Jill says:

My boy is 5 this year and the asking for toys is getting out of control. I’m glad to know…as I always am because of your blog…that I’m not alone. Thanks!

  52. Betsy says:

The almost 4 years old wants all little Legos and nothing but little Legos (the Lego City theme, since he has decided he is not old enough for the Star Wards theme). The almost 1 year old wants little Legos too. Perhaps to eat.

  53. Becky says:

My kids are still at the age where they don’t realize they’re supposed to expect presents, and when they get them they’re equally enchanted with the box and the wrapping… Especially the ribbon, for some reason. They’d probably be thrilled to just receive a bunch of ribbon for Christmas.

  54. Angela E says:

My 2 year old hasn’t figured out how to say what he wants consistently. But I’m sure he’d love a musical instrument or two. I love what Crappy Boy said at 3, it’s so precious. I hope my boy loves his sibling on the way just as much!

  55. Melissa K says:

Our 2 year old has no concept, yet, thank goodness. Our 6 year old, on the other hand… he loves to make lists, but the problem for us is that the list changes constantly! Its like playing Christmas russian roulette, we may get it ALL wrong this year, LOL!

  56. Sarah says:

My daughter wants the mermaid and my son wants the shark!

  57. Stephanie says:

I’m not sure my 2-year-old would understand asking for toys. He just figured out that presents were cool at his birthday in August. I’m pretty sure he’ll be thrilled with whatever we get him. We actually maintain a wishlist for him on Amazon.

  58. Stephanie G says:

I have a 10 month old, so no requests yet. I just hope he shreds up a bunch of paper!!

  59. Cari says:

    Sooooo true

  60. Jessica C says:

He’s two, so he just says he wants a book. The same book that we read every night before bed. :o)

  61. Erin says:

I usually rely on their Santa visit to figure out what they REALLY want. This year, when he asked them what they both want for Christmas, they replied, “Presents.” Both of them. Seriously. I’m at a loss. 🙂

  62. Erin says:

My almost 4 year old hasn’t picked up that he can ask for things. If you ask him, it’s always random items

  63. Jennifer Spencer says:

My oldest (who is 8) desperately wants a bike and tons of books and the twins (who will be 1) would literally just eat the wrapping paper and be thrilled.

  64. Steph says:

I haven’t really asked my son what he wants – I probably should.

So far all he’s getting is Thomas pajamas and a bucket of dinosaurs. We’re keeping Christmas pretty small this year.

  65. Marisa says:

My 8 year old has the circling going on a few years now.
I am trying to explain to him that since he wants more expensive items- that means less quantity. Esp those giant Lego Chima and Ninjago sets.

My 3 yr old is not picky at all. He just wants a ‘BIG present”. 🙂
He has all of big brother’s saved toys so it is really hard to buy for him.

  66. Cari says:

    legos of course!

  67. Kayla Rippe says:

I have not done the “daunting” task of asking my kids. I will prob get them a catalog and say, circle 5 things you want MOST. lol.
Last my 6 1/2 yr old told me… “I want a DS from Santa” :\

  68. Amanda Olsen says:

Unfortunately, my kids change their minds daily!

  69. Jodie says:

Age 3 was so sweet, probably won’t happen again till he is much much older!

  70. Heather says:

My oldest (also 7) wants lego and a science kit, the little boys (4 and 2) don’t have a specific wish list yet 🙂

  71. Brandy cole says:

    Lego Lego lego

  72. Kimberly Riley says:

I’m thankful for my 4 year old’s caring and generosity towards her baby sister (2 months). She was a bit spoiled before, and she still kinda is, but she is so much more generous and giving than he has ever been before.

  73. thea says:

My 6 yr. old wants an ipad! When I explained it was too expensive he said-“Well, Santa can make it!”
    hmmm….

  74. Jen says:

My daughter (2.5) is waaaaayyy into princesses. And trains. That’s all she is asking for, “princess” and “choo-choo’s!”

  75. Bobbi Kilbarger says:

My daughter wants anything Superman and my son wants teddy bears and a wooden train set.

  76. Mandy says:

My 3-year-old wants Santa to bring him a garbage truck. My husband made the mistake of showing him his garbage truck options, so instead of being happy with a small, cheap truck, my son has his eyes set on a 3-foot-long $60 model. Yaaaay.

  77. Tiffany says:

Well, they’re babies, but anything educational will suffice. Those rainbow block stackers look awesome!

  78. Kristin says:

My daughter wants lego duplos and little people play sets for christmas 🙂 or at least, that’s what I’m saying she wants, she’ll be two this week so she isn’t great at telling me yet 😉 I love your description, so right for this age!

  79. My kids are teenagers, so most of the items on their list cost several hundred dollars EACH.

  80. Anna Grahn says:

My son wants anything to do with trucks!

  81. esther says:

My kid is all about riding toys. Whenever we’re at the park he practically drools over the other kids’ scooters, so that’s what we’ve decided to get him.

  82. Kara Lesperance says:

If my kids see the sharks, I am going to be broke, lol.

  83. Brieanne Causton says:

My daughter really really reallllllllly wants a Barbie Dream House, which I am reminded of every second of every day. My son wants anything with wheels.

  84. Julie S says:

    Ha! I didn’t count year 1 either 🙂

  85. Claire R says:

My kids want Legos, anything fire truck/ambulance/police related, dolls, gifts to give each other …. and a real unicorn. 😉

  86. Olivia says:

My 3-year-old is still in the “want whatever I’m currently playing with” stage. My baby wants what her brother’s currently playing with, or whatever is least baby-safe. Or both.

  87. My boys want the superhero flyers like the old skydancers, my daughter wants the fairy that hovers over your hand.

  88. Aimee says:

My kid can’t talk yet, so I’m going to have to guess what he wants this year!

  89. jamie says:

The only thing my 3.5 yr old has asked for this year is a spinbrush…I know this won’t last forever so I’m remembering this for all I’m worth 🙂

  90. Jessica says:

    Wooden animals and fun books.

  91. Neula says:

My 12 year old son is in the change-your-mind-every-day category. I can’t really complain because he’s not asking for anything crazy like an iPhone – well, other than the $30 Pokemon card he found online. What?!?! He’s really into the Rubik’s cube so he wants more of them. My five year old just wants a race car track. I asked him what else he wanted and he said “race car track”. My 8 year old daughter is pretty easy too. She just wants a toy claw machine and table top pinball so they can have their own arcade. 🙂

  92. Jana says:

Yeah, this six (nearly 7) thing is rough. Kid doesn’t want anything, yet was also very greedy about getting gifts every night of Chanukah (and we also celebrate Christmas). I’m almost looking forward to my daughter’s next holiday because she’ll be 3 and ready to ask for stuff. Almost.

  93. My son will be three next month but has a bit of a speech delay so it can’t really ask what he wants but he’s very into trains right now so he’d LOVE an electric train set.

  94. Kristin says:

My four-year-old son asked for a dollhouse, and then for “something really cool,” and then for a fast car. Santa better get busy. My one-year-old daughter is, precisely, in the mood for some wrapping paper.

  95. Amy says:

My kids are all about dress up clothes

  96. Brandi says:

My kid wants “eleventy hundred and seven presents”. He circled every thing in the catalog. >.<

  97. Laura says:

I love giving interesting toys for the little ones. my daughter always has a long list – guess she didn’t learn…

  98. Helen Mortimer says:

We visited Santa by chance at a garden centre… my biggy asked for a computer… I cringed.. there is no way in the world she’s getting that… no concept of money yet! when I explained this on the way home she asked to go back… we saw santa at a school fair, this time it was a flying fairy… so I bought her one… only problem is now she wants to go back because she’s changed her mind… I may have to find the receipt!

  99. amy says:

My lil one is all about felt toys and calicou critters

  100. CL says:

My 3 year old son wants Flynn, the fire engine train from Thomas. Every time I ask, that’s his response. When I ask what else he might like, he gets so upset and yells “Flynn!” Like if he asks for anything else he may not get it. Its so cute and no amount of explaining has convinced him otherwise. His twin sister very emphatically tells us she wants a “Belle car.” No one but her seems to know what this is exactly, so we’re going with a Barbie car and Belle doll. I’m sure she’ll fall into the mad category b/c we’ll probably get it wrong!

  101. Courtney says:

My big kids (10 & 12) want electronics and clothes, so the little one (2) will be much more fun for the next few years!!

  102. Angie says:

My son is 3 and he wants an airplane and a firetruck, like real ones.

  103. Heather Sellers says:

My 4 year old has been pretty specific for the past 4 months that he wants all of the Octonauts Gups and the Octopod. That’s it. He also knows what he wants for his birthday in February, Hooks Jolly Roger ship (that’s all!). My two year old has been more difficult because a) he doesn’t know/tell us and b) every time we come up with a gift one of the grandmas buys it. Honestly, he would be happy just playing with his brother and his toys.

  104. gem says:

My son, almost 3, wants a stuffies and hugging Elmo…solely because they’re on the commercials. He runs to the tv, arms wide open, for Elmo. We bought the darn hing…he will likely play with it once. He uses sign language for”more” In regards to stuffies.

  105. Robyn says:

My 3 year old wants a red light saber and a red pack pack (backpack) and a red Clifford and…sensing a theme here? 😉

  106. Lisa says:

My son wants the train he plays with at his great grandma’s (she’s giving it to him) a kitchen (his aunt is getting that) and a microphone (Santa?) He also tells us his 8 month old baby brother wants a vacuum cleaner 🙂

  107. Dee says:

My 11 year old made me a pie chart as a Christmas list this year, when her baby sister ruined it, she provided me with a graph chart.

  108. Kirsten Glinke says:

I wish my daughter were easier to shop for. My boys (5 and almost 2) are so easy to find gifts for but it’s never easy to find things that my daughter (3) will love.

  109. Kat says:

She wants a kitchen set and a vacuum… and a broom.

  110. SUZAN says:

My sons would love the dinosaurs.

  111. Monica says:

My 4 year old hasn’t really committed to wanting anything specific yet but he has made it clear that he wouldn’t mind coal. I’ve threatened him with that a few times and he told me all about candy chocolate coal he saw at the store…I told him Santa would bring REAL coal instead and he was more excited about that because he could use it with his toy trains and to draw on the driveway. :/ So now I have to threaten with no toys OR coal if he doesn’t behave.

  112. Heather says:

Love all the toys! My kids would love a bendy family.

  113. KCMomma says:

My 4 year old told me he wants more cars (Hot Wheels, Matchbox, whatever) and little toy puppies because his sister keeps stealing them. More Duplo blocks for the same reason.

My 2 year daughter is a shoe thief, so I found a six pack of princess-y dressup shoes that I hope will keep her out of my sneakers. Also found her a five pack of baby dolls. For her, it is very much quantity over quality.

My brand new little squirt will have some Taggies stuff and a bigass jar of teething rings.

  114. Violet says:

My kids want cheese. At least, thats what the 2 year old said. Not sure how Im gonna do that one…

  115. Amy says:

My son will be just barely 1.5 at xmas, so I think his wants center mostly on books, balls, and Sesame Street.

  116. Kelly says:

My son is one, so he will like shredding the wrapping paper and gnawing on the wooden peg puzzle he’s getting. Also every kid needs new holiday pajamas! They just make the pictures so cute!

  117. Nicole says:

My daughter will only be a little over 11 months when Christmas rolls around, but she loves rainbow anything and she loves cats! So something along those lines.

  118. Kelly George says:

my 4 year old wants skylanders stuff. My 3 year old wants a bike, and the baby will be happy taking his sisters toys

  119. Allison says:

My youngest is 4 and is asking for a trombone, a tuba, lots of cars and trucks, and “toys.” His older brother (12) wants his own computer so he can go in his room and play in peace while NOT being hit on the head with a toy car, truck, or musical instrument.

  120. Dianne says:

My 6 year old’s list has gotten smaller and more expensive as she’s gotten older. Last year was at least a dozen things. This year her whole list was a Kindle Fire and a Baby Alive doll. When pressured she added books & puzzles!

My almost 3 year old wants whatever he sees on tv. His cutest answer when I asked him what he wanted for Christmas was a tree, lol.

  121. Robyn says:

My kids want American Girl dolls this year. They want other stuff too but that’s sort of topping the list. My oldest was just diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and she’s on a mission to get them to make a set that would go along with her diagnosis since they have wheelchairs and dolls with hearing aids. She’s already imagining how they will see the wisdom in her suggestion since they can sell sets with insulin pumps, glucose monitors and syringes. It will be a goldmine!

  122. Megan B says:

My 3.5 year old is pretty consistent this year: “A Cinderella set and roller skates.”

  123. anneliese says:

    A step2 clubhouse climber!

  124. Julie says:

My daughter doesn’t quite get that Santa will be bringing gifts, but if she did, I know she would want at least a microphone, if not a karaoke machine.

  125. Jennifer Hawley says:

    My kids wan skylanders giants.

  126. Jodie Sellers says:

My 10 year old son wants books, 6 year old son wants a remote control corvette, and 3 month old lil girl is happy to be here.

  127. Sheri says:

My kids are 2 and 4- they are at the exact same stages as yours at this age. The 2 year old doesn’t get it, the 4 year old changes her mind daily!

  128. Heidi says:

We don’t do a lot of gifts for each other. But we like to adopt other families and buy for them! We also like our tradition of going to the theater on Christmas day as a family!

And yes, I realize we’re part of the problem of causing people to work on Christmas, bla bla bla.

  129. Steph B says:

My 6yr old wants a wind turbine. 🙂

  130. Carolynn says:

The one year I remember being asking to get a remote control T-rex. This wasn’t in the stores, and I had no idea where to get one. He wrote a letter to Santa, told the mall Santa that’s what he wanted. He mentioned it thousands of times. I finally found one on eBay and though it was about a million dollars I got it. I was so excited to give it to him. On Christmas Day he opened it, played with it once, and then was terrified of it. 🙁 I tried!

  131. Kes says:

My kid is four and still usually picks what she sees around her. Earlier today she asked for a lap top, a bottle of soda, and snow boots. All of which are sitting on my desk.

  132. Kathy says:

My 2.5 year old is making a list and there are so many random things on it: new pants, movies, boats, paint…..

  133. Amber says:

Cars, trucks, trains… anything with wheels. She loves things that go “vroom vroom.” Also a doll with her own pacifier and bottle. We’re tired of her trying to “feed” her stuffed animals graham crackers and crunchies, haha.

  134. Lisa says:

My 20 month-old doesn’t understand Christmas yet, but I made him an Amazon wishlist with a play kitchen and lots of trucks.

  135. Samii says:

Last year it was a real dog — which she did not get. This year it’s a stuffed horse. Off the hook!

  136. Kate says:

I tried having the “Christmas is about helping others” talk with my 3-year-old…when I finished my lecture, she looked pensive for a moment and then said “No…I want a tinkerbelle barbie”…well, I tried!

  137. Jennifer Addison says:

My boys want anything Cars, even stuff we swear they have only dreamed of! 🙂 Can’t find the racetrack our 1st grader was describing this AM as of yet…

  138. Theresa says:

My son is almost 2, so he’s getting Word World toys I found on eBay since that’s a show he loves and it’s educational. Thanks for the non-crappy giveaway too! Mommy’s wish list has your book at the top of it. 🙂

  139. Genny says:

My 5 yr old daughter saw this Princess Ballerina Barbie dolls last year, once I was finished shopping (and so was everyone else). She was a little disappointed she didn’t get them, but was distracted by what she did get. But she has talked about them ALL YEAR LONG. Then we saw them again…the exact same set at Kohls…in October. She was so sad when we said we were not buying them that day. But we did…as daddy took her to the car. And now they will be under the tree this year. Can’t wait to see her face. But with my luck, she won’t even notice and be distracted by something else.

  140. Rana says:

Oh ha ha!! Yup, we are at the “4 Year Old” stage…so we are getting him what he has asked for knowing full well he won’t like it when he it opens it and will be adamant he did not ask for the gift even though he has been talking about it for 6 months!

  141. Heather says:

Oh man, it is that magical year where he is wanting the expensive stuff and when I say “Santa can’t make all of those expensive things for just one kid” he says “but it doesn’t cost him anything, it’s Santa!”

So, one gift from Santa and lots of things from mom, that I get to pick out. Less expensive toys, clothes, and things he needs, like baseball pants and basketball shoes. And fun bandaids and toothbrush and soaps in his stocking. Yep, I’m lame. Frugal and lame. But they will be decorated cute!!!

    • Birgit says:

Yep. Same here. I am starting to think that he doesn’t really believe in Santa anymore (he is 9, after all), and just uses the Big Guy as an unlimited toy making machine. But we did make reindeer cookies yesterday!

  142. Jade Sanford says:

My kids would like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/162791606/kids-wooden-toy-chop-dollhouse-dinner?ref=shop_home_active

and pretty much everything else on there.

  143. olivia says:

My 4 year old wants “all the Angry Birds stuff” I can find. My 2 year old twins want “flowers” and “the moon.” 🙂

  144. Josefine says:

“A ball, a car, and a dinosaur.” She is almost 3.

  145. csa says:

that’s so cute! i could never decide what i wanted as a child…
there were only a few years (like, 2) where i really wanted something, and it was one thing only. it worked once.

  146. JoAnne Carlson says:

My daughter would adore many of these things…but I would love to get her some play silks & would love to get the teething things for my new grandson! 🙂

  147. Ksusman says:

My three year old wants Santa to bring him all the toys at the store so that we can give them to other kids….um, that sort of puts Santa out of a job. Also, he wants superheroes. Nothing more specific than that. Three is fun.

  148. Amanda says:

My daughter is almost 2, so she wants everything… in every toy aisle… that is at eye level!

  149. Beth says:

I wish I knew what my kids wanted – at 3 and 4, they are complete mysteries to me. Probably something involving Minnie Mouse!

  150. Caitlin says:

I have three kiddos. The twins are too young to care, they want boxes and wrapping paper. My three year old lists off every.single.thing he sees on the tv. So he’s getting a Jake and the Neverland Pirates thing. He loved it in the store, hopefully he loves it once he opens it!

  151. ashley says:

all my three year old will tell me is “toys” helpful.

  152. Annette says:

My kids (3, 5 and 6) ask for really strange stuff. Maybe because we don’t have cable so they don’t see toy commercials? Last year my oldest wanted a drill. This year he wants a metal detector.

  153. Tanya Mize says:

We are breaking out the big gifts this year, since they kids are getting bigger. My 11yo is getting an XBOX360, the 13yo is getting a tablet and I’m *trying* to find reasonably priced dollhouse furniture for my 3yo.

  154. Rachelle M says:

My 21 mo old wants a kitty. Walks around all day talking about kitties. Daddy is terribly allergic so we’ll have to stick to visiting Grama’s cat. Next year she’ll have more opinions I’m sure!

  155. Allie says:

Great post! I love the scrapbook wish list. Pure brilliance. 🙂

  156. Rachel says:

I think both my kids would LOVE the dino stuff and the Montessori toys!

  157. Noelle says:

My daughter is 3 and had a list for a few months now. I’ve been very surprised that is has not changed. All the items remain the same.

  158. mamamama says:

    Love it!

  159. Allie says:

My son would probably go crazy about the wooden sorting aacorns. We have a bucket of real aacorns he’s collected in the driveway that he’s not allowed to bring in the car. lol

  160. Kelsey S. says:

My son is 16 months (will be almost 17 months by Christmas), so he is blissfully unaware that presents even exist. Our real challenge is reining in the grandparents, who have a history of going slightly overboard. 😉

  161. Heidi Rosen says:

The Heidi 3 posts up has a great idea…^^^^ Might start doing this too -)

My oldest kids (8 and 3) got a Hisense tablet this year…while it was for them, I have to say, it was kinda for us too. No more asking to play with our phones or ipad. Best part? We are going to train the 3 year old to play with it in the morning instead of waking me up at 5:45-6:15am. Oh. My. Gosh. Sleep until 7:30am? Unheard of.

  162. Cara says:

My 3yo is happy with trains. My almost 2yo is happy whenever anyone plays with him, and likes Marbleworks. My 5yo wants something new each week, usually related to my little ponies or building/making things.

  163. mamamama says:

My son is two, so his answer changes with whatever he’s playing with. 🙂

  164. Much like Crappy Boy at one, I have no idea, I just want to remember she was 19 months once and couldn’t talk. The talking is coming though, we are afraid, very afraid…

  165. Bonnie says:

My daughter wants a trampoline and my son doesn’t know but would probably love a room full of balloons.

  166. Mabel says:

My boys have learned the joys of gift cards they like having the cash to spend as they like. And more Lego sets.

  167. Sharlea says:

My son is four. He wants/hates everything right now but I think Legos and Angry Birds crap will win out for Christmas. We’ll see if we make it all the way to Christmas … he’s being a terror right now.

  168. Amanda O. says:

My lil girl is one, so she will happily play with wrapping paper and ribbons. She’s getting a Xylophone.

  169. Becca says:

What does my kiddo want? The better question is what doesn’t he want! Our 3 is looking like your 5 (except instead of a fully circled page, he just points to everything and announces that that’s what he wants.)

  170. Stephanie h. says:

My 5yr old wants the monsters inc scare factory.

  171. bec says:

My 9 year old wants a guitar and guitar lessons for Christmas. Because something else that makes incessant noise and I have to nag her to practice is going to bring goodwill and cheer all year long.

  172. Kellista says:

I have a 4 year old and I’m afraid we will get yelled at this year no matter what she gets.

  173. Rebecca says:

Oh, this is tooo funny!! My daughter is at the ‘circle everything’ stage. That, and she thinks that she ordered something online and “it’ll be coming in the mail soon.” (I’m not sure what it is, but that’s not the point I guess)
Otherwise, I think she wants Princess Sophia stuff 😛

  174. Rose says:

My kids want digging tools and metal detectors. Hopefully I can find five all alike or someone will end up getting mad…. ah kids.

  175. Ellen says:

My 4 year old wants a Dalek and a toy robot, by 1 year old doesn’t car yet, lol

  176. Aphie says:

I’m not even sure what the child who has Everything wants this year – though we shan’t be repeating last year’s mistake, where he wrote a request to Santa letter at preschool, surrounded by other children doing the same.
He played with the Spiderman toy for five whole minutes after he got it and did not pick it up once in the last year!

  177. Melissa Bedford says:

My nephews have been inspired by dinovember…so I think it is going to be dinosaurs this year!

  178. Sue says:

My 2yo wants a Knuffle Bunny. Yup, that’s it. He keeps going around asking (in 2yo ‘ease, “Where Knuffle Bunny? Where you bunny?) So stinkin’ cute but I am worried because we have 22 more days until he gets it. Must. Be. Strong….

  179. Megan says:

My daughter would be happy with anything (she’s 2!) I love that you can customize the dolls to show different races – our family is multi-racial and it’s pretty much impossible to find a family set that would reflect that. This is awesome!

  180. Christine says:

My 1 year old has no idea. This will be his second Christmas and I’m pretty sure a box would be wonderful. My almost 3 year old still has a very basic understanding of Christmas. Currently she only cares about “decorationing” the house. The concept of asking for something for Christmas is way above her head still. I think she would want stickers if I asked her.

  181. Stacia R says:

My 2 year old hasn’t really requested anything specific, but she’d be happy with anything Tinkerbell

  182. Jenn says:

My daughter seems to be in the same stage as age 5 Crappy Boy. 🙂

  183. Velvet says:

My 5 year old wants cardboard boxes to make a train out of, a water shoot gun, a hot wheels bathtub toy, and hungry hungry hippos.

  184. Linda R says:

I see myself spending a lot of $$$ even if I don’t win!

  185. Lauren says:

My daughter is 2 so she’s in the “whatever toy is already in my hand” phase. Currently we’re trying to put as many books and puzzles in her hands as possible.

  186. Suzy says:

My son has finally started to pay attention to commercials unfortunately. So this year he asked for a “Batman cave”…… He has no idea who Batman is…..

  187. Shaunna says:

My little crumb snatchers want bicycles! Anything to keep them outside!

  188. Abby Damron says:

We’re seriously considering wrapping toys the boys already own…

  189. Samantha says:

    I love Waldorf anything.

  190. Wendy O. says:

We’re redoing my son’s room with a space theme, so the Astronaut Puzzle / Playscene and the Max in Space Moon Landing Playset with Stacker would be perfect! He would LOVE it!

    • Wendy O. says:

Ok – so I thought I was supposed to write what they’d want from the site. My bad. In that case, my daughter wants a pink Melissa & Doug ballerina dress up set she found at the store (she doesn’t know that Santa purchased it already). My son is only 15 months, but I can tell you he wants whatever his sister is playing with. So my guess is he also wants the pink Melissa & Doug ballerina dress up set. 😉

  191. Emily P says:

a remote controlled crab. anyone know where to find one of those? LOL

  192. CJ says:

My daughter is all about My Little Pony and the Equestria Girls. Her little brother is only 16 months so he’s pretty much about whatever she’s playing with!

  193. Sara says:

My 1-yo won’t say. The 3-yo just wants new rain boots – but only because I suggested it.

  194. Jenn says:

I buy for my nieces and the top of their list is My Little Ponies this year.

  195. Amy says:

My 3 year old has an OBSESSION with Ninja Turtles-anything that has those crazy green turtles on it he goes ape for!

  196. Diana Snyder says:

My 4 year old wants to BE a mermaid and my 2 year old wants whatever the 4 year old is playing with at any given moment.

  197. Hannah says:

They are all obsessed with a light up pony. Do I know what this magical pony is, or where I can buy one? Not a clue. Santa may be screwed this year.

  198. Alex says:

My 3 year old wants cars. This is the first year he understands presents and Santa :). Here we go!

  199. My five-year-old wants Legos. And then more Legos. Plus some Legos. My two-year-old doesn’t know who the hell Santa is, so he just wants whatever his brother does.

  200. Kelly Ann B. says:

My 2yo is nonverbal, so he can’t say what he wants….but he loves cars, so he’s been pretty easy. My 3yo has been asking for Play Doh for the past six months now! I’m scared.

  201. Cheryl P. says:

My son wants whatever the commercials says. Recently, he said he wanted Barbie’s Dream House. He doesn’t even own a Barbie nor Ken.

  202. Katie Yeung says:

Mr 5 wants all the Lego ever. Actually, all the Star Wars Kego. He did a scrap book with drawings. Every page was Lego.
Miss 3 only wants one thing, a Barbie. Never. Gonna. Happen.

  203. Jill says:

My 6 year old wants anything Monster High, My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop and oh, yeah, another cat (not like we don’t have 3 already)!

  204. Mary D says:

anything from the Bubble Guppies, but circle and double star for Bubble Puppy

  205. Daphne says:

Just waiting for my kid to be old enough to make Christmas demands. Fun!
And the shop is super cute. Love all the wooden toys!

  206. M@SSBD says:

My kid-o doesn’t understand the concept of gifts, yet. He definitely enjoys the wrapping paper, though. WE want to get him either a train set or a play kitchen. We’ve been saving up most of the year for one of them. 😀

  207. Cat W. says:

She’s just shy of 2, so she just stared at me when I asked what she wanted and went back to her toys. She’s getting a play kitchen 🙂

  208. Adriane says:

I’m only at age 2 but I can see that description is spot on, at least. My son didn’t even answer a specific toy; he just pointed to a book I was holding and said, “Dat one.”

    Efficient.

  209. Amy says:

My daughter is 18 months. She wants wrapping paper. I had to agonize this year over what to put on her wish list. Secretly I want her to get all clothes.

  210. Colleen says:

My 5 year old has asked for a set of walkie talkies and a magnifying glass. Check and check.

The 2 year old doesn’t really understand the asking for gifts thing yet.

  211. Santana says:

I’m glad I can get by with inexpensive gifts now! I know that growing up, my brother always asked for the latest video game system- let’s hope that doesn’t happen for my little guy!

  212. Heather says:

I love the nativity play set!

  213. Michele says:

My 4 year old son wants a baby sister. Unfortunately he waited until last week to tell me so I think Santa may not be able to get that together in time. So I think he’ll be mad. 🙂

  214. Samantha Frederick says:

My daughter wants the Cinderella movie and a kitten. We already have a cat…we definitely do not need another one. My middle son wants anything cars or monsters. My baby is obsessed with airplanes so he will get something airplane.

  215. Monica says:

My 8 year old boy has his heart set on some enormous Nerf gun. My 4 year old girl wants some set where you make bracelets that change colors. They both went through the Toys r Us ad and wrote a list of everything they want.

  216. Rekella says:

My youngest want a crappy barbie castle gah!!!

My eldest want craft supplies, lots and lots.

  217. Jodie Sell says:

My almost six year old requested her own computer and a real phone :- /

  218. Julie W. says:

My 4 year old wants a chocolate bar. And a telescope. But mostly a chocolate bar. 🙂

  219. Natalie says:

lol! I love the organized binder! What a project. My three year old is so excited for christmas but all she wants are some stamps. 😀

  220. Jodi Rose says:

I would love to win this to help with Christmas shopping for my nieces!

  221. Dawn says:

My 3 yr old asked for ALL the cars, ALL the trains, toys for the cat and dog, and flowers for Nana. 🙂

  222. Tessa says:

My two year old still might be mostly into the wrapping paper and boxes 😉

  223. Ashley says:

    Elmo!

  224. Mandi McGonagle says:

My 4 year old wants pretty much everything. But specifically? He says Spider-Man stuff, Iron Man stuff and a small baby doll. Specifically a SMALL baby doll – I’m not sure why. My two year old wants Iron Man and Hulk stuff, toy dogs and a box of those really crappy plastic dinosaurs. He is absolutely obsessed with them. I can’t wait to step on those constantly. {} <- sarcasm brackets.
My 7 month old hasn't told us what she wants but I'm thinking she would agree with Crappy Boy, year one – some nice wrapping paper to shred.

  225. Lucy says:

What are the couple of items he has listed on the scrap paper for this year??

  226. Angela says:

My 4.5 year old wants a play doh set, roller skates and stickers. My 14 month old doesn’t know… but her sister says she wants a stuffed bunny.

  227. CathyC says:

My little one is yet too young to ask for gifts. (And since we don’t celebrate Christmas in our culture, it may be a while before she learns to do so.) But we have just very happily given her (and she, happily received) a whole bunch of Black Friday gifts =)

  228. Beth says:

My two month old and two year old don’t care yet. 🙂 My five year old says Snap Circuits, the eight year old wants a sled, the ten year old wants art supplies, and the eleven year old wants Adventures in Oddysey.

  229. Tina says:

My 8 Yale old daughter wants grown up teenage girl stuff, ugh. My older boy wants car tracks, or anything with cars. My little boy doesn’t care hes almost 2 and lovess the toys he has

  230. Zita says:

I want stuff for my 2-year old. She says yes to everything I ask her if she wants it for Christmas. Tough choices for me to make…:)

  231. Bethany says:

Yesterday my four year old wanted a fire truck. Today he wants a tractor trailer car transporter thingy. I’m afraid to give him a pen.

  232. Jess H says:

My girls would love anything in the pirates and mermaids section. Shark Week is a huge thing in our household, and mermaids just make it better lol!

  233. Sarah T says:

My 2 year old wants duplos. I think the 6 month old will just get a box.

  234. Lisa says:

Well, I learned that it is a HUGE mistake to take a 4 yr. old girl into Costco in the weeks before Christmas – it was Princess haven! And of course, she wanted every.single.thing. in the toy section – desperately.

  235. Kirsten says:

Nothing!!!! And I hope it stays that way… Ahh, bit that’s not going to happen. Oh well… Break out the catalogues.

  236. Rachel T says:

My son, who just turned 2, wants “trucks and cars and choo-choos and trucks and cars and choo-choos and trucks and cars and choo-choos and trucks and cars and choo-choos and….and..and…and a Thomas (the train) blanket.”

  237. Lisa Martinez says:

The only thing my four year old has asked for is a Didgeridoo. Yes….a didgeridoo. LMAO!

  238. Alicia says:

My boys, 8 & 5, want board games. They really have a lot and their list is just minimal.

  239. Sarah Stedman says:

The main things my kids want this year. My 4 year old wants the electronic kitty that meows and plays with it’s toy, my 6 year old wants the calico critter caravan and car, my 11 year old wants a kindle, my 12 year old wants a tablet, my 14 year old wants legos, and my other 14 year old (almost 15) wants the new Skylanders swap force game. I have found some amazing deals this year. 😀

  240. Alex says:

My 3 year old says she doesnt know what she wants. I’d say that applies to more than just Christmas gifts….

  241. So thankful we are not at the “circle it in an ad” stage. My LO is 3 1/2 and I think she will be excited for anything. She hasn’t even really talked about what she wants and I don’t ask her. Trying not to make a huge deal out of it.

  242. Lauren says:

    Someday I’ll win a giveaway! 🙂

  243. Tiffany says:

My baby is nine months old. We don’t know what she wants and we’re contemplating not getting her anything…. Is that cruel?

  244. Amanda Bucher says:

My 2.5 year old wants a baby brother. Her cousin just got one. Sigh.

  245. Toria says:

My four year old has changed her “double-star” present three times so far. She’s not getting all three. How do I narrow it down?

  246. Doreen says:

He’s too young to care yet. I may just wrap up his current toys since he loves them so much….

  247. Christine says:

My three year old says she wants “a caterpillar to draw on”. There’s a Very Hungry Caterpillar that is white an comes with washable markers so kids can draw on it again and again. Although today at the store she was pointing at pretty much everything and saying that she wanted it, but she did make sure to pick out a Hello Kitty music box for her little sister. ^_^

  248. Morag says:

My 6 year old wrote his list, including the LEGO set identification numbers and when my husband asked him to prioritise the list he added stars to everyone of them. My 5 year old has mentioned a couple of things she wants, I think I might have bought one of them but not sure if it’s the right thing. Sometimes she is quite opaque in the way she talks about stuff.

  249. Jennifer says:

My 22-month-old son would like “mans”. My husband is getting me Parenting Illustrated with Crappy Pictures after he came downstairs to ask me if I was on drugs the first time I read your blog because I was laughing so much.

  250. Sierra says:

My son is four and is FINALLY excited about Christmas for the first time. But every time we ask him what he wants, he says he wants a Mario game. Specifically the cat-Mario game. Little does he know, that one’s already been purchased and is waiting as a gift for his daddy… And for the life of us, we cannot get him to tell us anything else he wants!

It’s always just, “Mario game! Cat-Mario! We play Cat-Mario on Christmas!”

Yes, buddy, we know. But srsly what else do you want? Ah well, at least he’s not being greedy yet.

  251. Kristi says:

Luckily, mine is still in the wrapping paper and box phase of life!

  252. Jessica says:

My daughter is more excited about Santa then anything, we have been listening to Christmas songs since before Thanksgiving so I should be burning out on them pretty soon. Every time she sees Santa she wants to call him and tell him how good she is being, and more importantly that there will be cookies and milk for him-as long as she can have one too.

  253. Erica says:

Our two year old wants anything we mention to her. Since we keep saying things about monsters, she wants a monster for Christmas. This is very handy because *ironically* we already have monster books and stuffed animals already purchased for her. *wink wink*

  254. Jlynn says:

My oldest is 4 and she is in the five stage and gets her brother who is only 2.5 going with the “I wants” while looking though stuff. He will look through Daddy’s farming magazines and point at the tractors and tell me he wants them, yeah they cost more than our house…

  255. Angela H says:

My daughter, 18 months, would adore play silks!

  256. Julia K says:

My son only wants crazy bones ~ not even sure what they are ~ just that he saw them in the Sears wishbook and he wants them!!
My daughter is 2.5 and wants anything pink and girly ~ she loves dolls!

  257. emiko says:

My 3 year old wants a piano.

  258. Sara Gibson says:

My kids are HUGE fans of the Schleich toys; especially the knights and fairies. Although my 3 year old’s theme song this year is, “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”! LOL

  259. Amanda says:

My almost 3 year old wants a blimp and a soccer ball and hot wheels. My one month old wants her brother to let her nap longer then 3 minutes.

  260. Hannah says:

My son is two. And he would probably say the same thing as Crappy Boy – he wants what he has! That and to sing Winnie the Pooh songs all day long.

I want some of the beautiful toys from Enchanted Cupboard (especially the wooden rainbow!).

  261. Rachael Apple says:

All three of my kids want transformer rescue bots. My boy wants anything that flies, has wheels or can make choo-choo noises. My girls want Doc McStuffins.

  262. Kristin says:

My son is still in utero, but I have bought him a wooden robot shaped teether from another Etsy shop. 🙂

  263. Ellie says:

My 5-going-on-6 son has also got serious with lists and presented me with a code to understand the annotations on his list. The spelling is very endearing. 🙂 Mostly Star Wars lego. We will see.

My almost-3 son has autism and no language, but I still know what he would like most. A selection of toy toilets to go with the ones he already has. Do you *know* how hard it is to find these now?

  264. Jennifer K says:

We don’t celebrate Christmas, but my oldest daughter really wants a new American Doll soon, and my 2 year old really doesn’t care…lol!

  265. beverly says:

A cash register! with money in it!

  266. Angela says:

    My kids would love this.

  267. Chelsie says:

I don’t have kids yet, but I want just about everything on The Enchanted Cupboard website 😀 and perhaps I’ll share my lovely toys w/my kids when I finally have them. heh

  268. Cassie says:

I used to think my kids were hard to shop for when they were a little bit younger. Now that they are 11 and 16 I find it to be waaaayyy harder! The 11 year old still thinks she wants toys but whenever we look through the catalogs or browse the toy isle nothing really catches her attention. The 16 year old is a man child now, so it’s hard to get more than a grunt from him about anything at all.
My new mission is to not only get them something they will like but to surprise them as well. Wish me luck!!!

  269. Kathy says:

I have cut out scraps of toy catalogs all over our table right now!

  270. Francesca says:

My almost-7-year-old gave me the circled toy catalog this year. Although she assures me she didn’t circle EVERYTHING. But she did circle more things than I would want to purchase her.

  271. Mary says:

The 12 year old hipster wants a record player (I remember when I wanted one as a kid, and it was retro THEN,) the 10 year old gamer wants a gameboy color and Pokemon Emerald (he already has a DS and a 2DS), the 4 year old juggernaut wants ninja stuff (lawd help me), and the the 2 year old wants barbies (I have failed as a gender-neutral mom).

  272. Samantha Moore-Schwermann says:

I never win these things, but it sure would be cool if I did!

  273. Lorien Q says:

My big (4) wants Lego firetrucks. Oh, and every piece of crap in the catalog that comes home from daycare 😛 My little (5 months) wants fingers. Lots of tasty fingers, mama <3

  274. Elena D says:

A magic set is what my 7-yr old would like

  275. Kristin says:

My oldest wants money (preteens suck to shop for). My 3 year old wants Santa’s reindeer. He told Santa that “he has enough-he needs to share the reindeer”. My baby wants boob.

  276. Susanne says:

I really love those toys from Enchanted Cupboard.
Also, my 6 year old has a 250 item wishlist on Amazon 😛

  277. Jennifer Nishizaki says:

My girl’s 21 months. I bet she’ll take anything, but her current favorite activity is walking around with a bag on her head, so maybe just gift bags!

  278. Jaci Kulish says:

    In general? Hero Factory!

  279. Rachel says:

My 2 year old son found an old commercial for a Play Doh Sesame Street Color Mixer (they’re discontinued now) on youtube. He watched is over and over again. When we asked him what he wanted, he replied “Color Mixer!” It took two trips 40 minutes away, but he’s getting his color mixer. I don’t know who is more excited for Christmas – me because I can’t wait for his reaction when he sees it or him.

  280. Rachel says:

6yo wants an american girl doll.. unfortunately for her, it aint happenin 😉

The 4yo wants a magic wand that can do real magic…err…sorry, wish I could!

The 2yo… he’ll really like the boxes and shredding the wrapping paper.

There’ll be plenty of stuff under the tree that they will be thrilled with to make up for not getting the big things they ask for!

  281. Alicia says:

All my three year old wants this year is a pink ballerina doll. Easy!

  282. Lindsey says:

He wants a little talking lightning McQueen car.

  283. Kimberly Adams says:

Wrapping paper to eat. Everything goes in his mouth right now

  284. Jenny Trickett says:

Our 4 year old son only wants a REAL horse or a REAL robot. Toys seem to just anger him because they’re not the REAL version of anything. Hmmm this is going to be fun…..

  285. Dave says:

My children haven’t advanced past the circle everything stage yet.

  286. Andrea says:

My youngest just turned 1 so wrapping paper and an iPhone case (all the rage with the 1 year old crowd. They love to chew!) My oldest is turning 3 in a few days and he’d like more Thomas trains.

  287. Angela G says:

My 3 year old wants a tractor…to add to the collection I guess. And my 4 year old wants nothing…he is in the angry stage.

  288. Jessica B says:

My 2.5 year old daughter wants a pink princess castle, which is baffling how that’s on her radar to her tomboy mommy. My 3 month old is a huge fan of chewing on his hands 🙂

  289. Christy says:

    3 y.o. is asking for everything. 7 y.o. wants a gaming computer. 9 y.o. wants a robotic dog.

  290. Crystal Pariseau says:

This is EXACTLY my boys! 2yo doesn’t get it yet so asks for more of what he currently has in his hand, and while 5yo gets it, he isn’t yet organized. When I asked him to look through the TRU catalog, he handed it back to me and said “this.” Not. Helpful. But his sweet side also said, “Santa always knows what’s best – he can bring me anything!” An amazing heart, but talk about pressure!!

  291. Flatlander in VT says:

Heh age 3 was pretty awful for us, we’ve got ages 1.5, 4 and 5 this year, its going to be awesome 🙂

  292. anna says:

My boys are only 20 and 2 months so they don’t really know anything about Christmas or about wanting/asking for gifts : ) But we do have things that we want for them including a balance bike, learning cube, wagon, kid tablet, and a bunch of wooden rattles/ toys.

  293. Kelly Nelson says:

Tot wants anything pirate, weapony, super hero-y, or cute. What a funny age!

  294. Joanne C says:

My 4.5 year old wants the movie Epic (we rented it recently and she wanted to keep it) and some dolls. I’m enjoying this age when she is easy to please!

  295. You have such a good memory. Age 2 was spot on!!

My boys are 5 and 3, and they still don’t know you can ask for things. We’re trying to delay the inevitable. 🙂

  296. Rachel Carter says:

3.5yo – a real guitar with real strings and everything (quote)
    1.5yo – can’t talk!

  297. Elizabeth M says:

4 year old, “Sparkly blue princess elephant we saw at the store.” I have no recollection of seeing such a thing, I have not been able to find it at any of the stores we generally frequent, even Google has come up short. Sorry kid, no sparkly blue princess elephants in existence so far as I can tell. Assorted Disney princess paraphernalia shouldn’t be frowned at too much, I hope.

2 year old “Cismiss! Danta! Yay Danta! Yove Danta!” He kind of gets stuck on the whole Santa thing and the conversation never really moves on from there.

  298. Jennie says:

The 5 year old is asking for a baby sister. As if her full on toddler brother wasn’t enough. When I ask him, his older siste answers for him “he wants a sister too”.
Yeah… They’re both getting books from Santa.

  299. Larissa G says:

Baby is 11mos old. He likes toys to hold. I’m going to get him maracas and bongos.

  300. Kim says:

…I love that shop. That’s all. My five year old won’t tell me what she wants except in the tinniest whisper that I can’t understand. XD

  301. Casey P says:

My daughter is 4 years old and this post was right on for her age…she circled everything in the catalouge. EVERYTHING.

  302. Laura says:

My kids? They’re 2 1/2 yrs and 6 months. Whatever is shiny and/or pretty and/or what the other one is playing with. And “yummy.”

  303. SJH says:

My baby will be 5 months old this Christmas, so I can’t ask her.
I’ll probably get books or clothes for her. Next year will be more fun! 🙂

  304. Amanda says:

My baby is 7 mo so she is super easy as she will like anything I get her. So far I have an activity table, some other toys, and some clothes. I have been randomly giving her the toys though so she gets a new toy here and there not all at once.

  305. Darcy H says:

My daughter is only 2 and hasn’t figured out what she wants. She doesn’t even know she’s getting anything! 🙂

  306. Kim says:

My daughter wants a cell phone.

  307. My 5yo keeps changing his mind, from a toy gun that makes noise (so he can play with the older neighbor kids who keep telling him his nerf gun isn’t good enough because it doesn’t make shooting noises) to the mechanical dinosaurs he saw at Target one day. My 2yo is the same as Crappy Boy at that age… she just wants whatever comes to mind at the time, so I have NO idea!

  308. Helen says:

My girls are 2yrs and 1yr so they have no requests yet. For my 1yr olds birthday my SIL gave her a boiled potato, she loved it! I think I’m sensing a theme.

  309. Patty B says:

My kids have no idea what they want. Candy is all they say so far. But they rarely have candy so I’m not sure they even know what they are talking about. My 2 year old has asked for a doctor kit. she’s more decisive than my 3 or 4 year old. And my 16 month old- forget about it. She wants whatever the other kids have that looks fun. Who even knows.

  310. Erika says:

Pink. Glittery. Hello Kitty. Bonus points if it’s all 3.

    • Elizabeth M says:

Sounds a lot like my house, except bright tirquoise blue is preferred to pink (though pink is completely acceptable too) here and Disney princesses have recently overtaken hello Kitty as #1. But glitter yes, glitter is king.

  311. grace g says:

My son for the last 2 years has wanted a snow ball gun! I so do not want to get this for him, but that is all he is asking for……princess’s for my daughter, and my youngest (girl) wants anything with minnie mouse 🙂

  312. Smiley Momma says:

My kids love anything…but especially dress up and music. My favorite is my niece who asks for goldfish crackers every year!

  313. Diane says:

My 2 year old keeps asking for a unicorn hippo (?!). I swear we are drug free over here and have no idea how he came up with that.

  314. Kat says:

My son will be 5.5 months on Christmas. All he wants is cuddles, naps, and liquid love (aka breastmilk).

  315. Chelsea D. says:

My son is so into trains, so he’s getting a train table/train sets. (He’s pretty young, so still doesn’t get the “what do you want concept”.

  316. Stacy Crawford says:

    chocolate!

  317. Rebecca says:

this is amazing! also, my son is almost 6years old, and he’s being very specific with his lists this year. it’s pretty adorable. 🙂 xo

  318. Mary Colvett says:

My kids have turned in lists that include lines like “surprise me!” and “candy” I think I can do that.

  319. Cindy Clayton (Claytonia) says:

My eldest (8 1/2) is mostly into books, rubber-band jewelry, and her 18″ dolls. She’s not asking for much, though–she’s actually fussing more about her own inability (due to having no cash flow) to buy us stuff. Who *is* this kid??

Our 4-year-old daughter hasn’t really noticed it’s almost Christmas, or at least she hasn’t made with the gift requests thus far. I’m almost afraid to ask her–but fortunately, the worst that can happen is she’ll blurt out a bunch of weird stuff and then forget all about it within a few days.

  320. Jillynne says:

My kids are 29 and 42 months old, they don’t really get the concept of asking for gifts yet. They are super excited to be making things for other people though, asking to paint for so-and-so every day.

  321. Lisa King says:

My 8-year-old asked for 5 twenty dollar bills. He said that way he could buy his own toys and Santa wouldn’t have to make as many.

  322. Melissa says:

Hmmm…I hadn’t thought to ask my two-year-old what he wants for Christmas. I just presumed to write a list for him, based on what he likes. This could produce some fun results!

  323. Leanna says:

My 4-year-old asked for a Skylanders guy (the name escapes me…I can barely remember my kids’ names!) and his own computer. He IS getting said Skylander guy but, shockingly, not his own computer.

My almost 2-year-old wants every single Minnie, Daniel Tiger, baby, Clifford, Octonauts, and animal item she ever sees. Having a birthday on January 2 means she will be getting quite a few of her wished for items!

  324. kathleen says:

My kids want a trampoline and a “grown up camera”

  325. Jessica says:

My Son Just Turned 2, So I’m Not Sure What He Wants Exactly, But He’s Getting A Slide And Books.

  326. Valerie says:

My 4 year old mostly just wants MORE Dino’s. He did however circle everything in a toy magazine as well. He’s getting a soft blanket like mine- because I’m tired of him stealing it! My 2 year old has no idea what Christmas even is yet or what a present is… He’s getting a vacuum to encourage his obsession for cleaning 😉

  327. Melissa K says:

My 3 yr old son wants a bike (already has one) and a Christmas tree with a lot of lights on it to shine in the dark.

My 6 yr old son wants everything that Santa can make, a phone, 2 Kindles, and a Nook.

  328. kathleen says:

Oh, and my 4 year-old wants a monster truck. A real, full sized one lol

  329. Blanca M says:

My son is 3 and for the last few months everything’s been Angry Birds themed….

  330. Rebekah says:

My oldest wants marbles. That’s it. He’s almost 14, so I have to admit, it’s a relief that he’s not begging for technological things. My 11 year old son wants pokemon – ANYTHING pokemon.
My 9 year old can’t make up her mind. The list changes daily, and liekly will right up until Christmas morning and beyond.
And my 4 year old wants whatever her siblings want. Or whatever she sees. Today as she was walking by the computer, she saw a castle set on the screen, so that’s her current wish.

  331. beth says:

My boys wants Nerf blasters, Skylanders Swap Force, and books.

  332. Olivia says:

My son wants a dinosaur. He’s obsessed with them.

  333. Sheena says:

All my 3-year old wants is “a little umbrella, so I can hold it myself.” And a horse. The umbrella I think I can do….

  334. Aurora says:

We are at the circling everything in the catalog stage, but he is (they are, but the baby is too young to know) getting power wheels, so I think he will be happy;). Mostly we are living vicariously through him; both of our parents refused to get us power wheels despite much begging!

  335. Kelly says:

My kids just wrote lists yesterday and then I had to get on Etsy to search for the one thing they asked for that I hadn’t already gotten!

  336. Barbra says:

My three year old doesn’t yet understand the concept. If he did, he would probably say dinosaurs.

  337. Sevender says:

I would order the dollhouse bendy dolls, and probably the kids wooden rainbow acorns for my chipmunk obsessed sisters.

  338. Mary says:

My 2-year-old Rosie keeps having me call Santa on her toy phone and ask him for “a present and cake and pie.”

  339. Tiffany Underwood says:

A pet cow, an American Girl Doll, and pink hippo!!

  340. Tricia says:

My kids are 1.5 and almost 3, so they have no idea. My 3yo wants chapstick and beyond that is anyone’s guess.

My plan is to stock her up with toys that require her imagination. The baby wants whatever his sister is playing with so that will be easy! Two sets of everything, please. 🙂

  341. Nora says:

My kids need more fairies. And butterflies. And pretty dolls.

  342. HL says:

My girl is 2 and it’s also her bday in December. Not sure what she’s getting yet!

  343. Risa says:

Love it! My almost-one-year-old is in the silent drooling phase this year.

  344. livlaugheat says:

For his birthday, all he wanted was “a soft Buzz Lightyear I can cuddle with.” And for Christmas he couldn’t think of anything so suggested/tested some ideas and he seemed to like them. I’m especially excited about the avengers band aids. The kid loves band aids and “super zeros.”

  345. Katherine says:

My little one is only 2 months old so personally I won’t get her anything because the adoring family will surely find some clothes they just MUST give her.

My son just turned 3. He is like the 3 yr old version of crappy boy – just loves his baby sister! As for Christmas, I think he’d like a crib and a chair for his baby doll, because he keeps putting her in his sister’s crib and bouncy seat!

  346. Lisa says:

Our 18 month old has no concept of the holiday… but i did get him several toys- only now i am afraid it will be over stimulation! so he may get them one a time over a month or so 🙂

  347. rose says:

My son is only two, he still dosent realy get christmass, but he loves any kind of car.

  348. Sarah says:

We have a birthday, Hanukkah and Christmas (usually) within a month or less of each other so my kids get super spoiled by no other reason than there huge present celebrations all around the same time. My 4 year old wants everything he sees on tv (darn you commercials on Nick and Disney after a certain hour!!) and constantly asks to add things to his amazon wish list.

  349. Amelia says:

The TV remote and a cell phone! (She’s 17 months, those are 2 of the things she is NOT allowed to play with.)

  350. Kathleen says:

HAHA this is spot on with my youngest, also a 7-year old boy! 🙂 He did add “A CAT” this year, written like that, so I guess that means YES THIS! LOL. My 11-year old…whatever costs the most money…American Girl stuff or electronics. sigh.

  351. Tammy says:

Too cute! My daughter is 2 1/2 and she is asking for marbles and a rocket ship haha!

  352. stacy says:

My boys will be two 2 days before Christmas. I don’t plan to get them anything this year – they’ll get lots of presents from grandma and great-grandma, and auntie, you get the picture. We pretty much just get them things as they need them throughout the year. But I can see how the progression can evolve year to year once they start realizing what presents are all about!

  353. Lauren Moylan says:

My son changes his mind every two minutes. He’s in the “4” stage. And my daughter is one. But if I get them both the same thing, I’m good!

  354. Jessica says:

My 4yo wants, everything. every toy ever made. yup.
my 1yo wants numnums (breastmilk) lol.

  355. Laura says:

My kids want the walking, talking, “oh my God, does that thing ever shut up?” toys this year. My 5 year old wants Cuddles the monkey and the 3 year old wants Daisy the cat (both by FurReaal).

  356. Lisa says:

Your blog is hilarious. I look forward to seeing a new post in my mailbox!

  357. Rei says:

My niece would say something along the lines of of “princess dress” , she loves Tangled & calls her ‘Punzel.

  358. Gretchen Barr says:

My son is 7 months, he’s content eating my shoe string, and playing with the cat.

I’m sure well get him something non-toxic/non-living to put in his mouth

  359. Heidi says:

My 5yo son would love some switch n go dinos. oh, and a beyblade??

  360. leslie says:

My daughter loves anything to do with pretend cooking or her baby doll.

  361. Emily says:

My older boys (ages 6 and 3) want Legos. Millions of Legos. The baby (7 months) would be happy with millions of those baby chain links.

  362. Erica says:

My 4 year old daughter asked Santa for a pigeon (a live one). At least they’re easy to find, I guess.

  363. mrs. P says:

My Little ones would love the stacking rainbow! So bright and cheery!

  364. Thalita Dol says:

This is the first time my daughter asks for an specific toy. She is 4yo now. She asked for a scooter! (not automatic, the one you push with your feet!)

  365. erickajen says:

    so cool! 😛
my son does the list circling. and man, there are a lot of things he wants. 😛 HAHA. of course.

  366. Jennifer says:

    Love your site!

  367. Laura says:

Both the 4yo and the 6 yo want tablets because they’re savvy to all of the games/photos/stories available on them. The 6yo also wants to have an email address so he can write to and send pictures to his Grammy whom he snail mails all the time even though she only lives 1/2 hour away:)

  368. Kari says:

I didn’t ask my daughter what she wants for Christmas. She’s only 2, so she wouldn’t understand. I have some Backyardigans DVD’s on her wish list, because she’s obsessed with them right now. I’m also hoping she’ll get a plush cookie monster and some Melissa & Doug toys. I felt terrible that our daughter didn’t get very much from us for her first Christmas, but she was 3 months old, and we had just bought a house. Scratch that. We bought our daughter a house for her first Christmas. 😀

  369. Elana Davis says:

My kids are happy with pretty much anything they can toss around the room. My son just likes to open up presents, but doesn’t care what they are.

  370. Rachel says:

My kids want a trip back to Canada to visit their grandparents + cousins…

  371. Carrie says:

My daughter wants anything to do with princesses.

  372. Meghan Zeile says:

I literally LOL’ed at the part where he asked for whatever he was playing with. Hilarious!

  373. Meghan Zeile says:

Also, my daughter lights up when she sees a baby doll. She’s only one so I might regift her something she already owns. She won’t notice. My son wants everything to do with super heroes.

  374. Denise Z says:

Funny! And good to know that my son has followed the same path of asking for nothing or everything in the same order as yours. I love that you saved his gift scrapbook, too!! The Enchanted Cupboard is so colorful and fun, love it–!

  375. Jenny Coe says:

My son would love a ton of mushrooms….he likes mushrooms!

  376. Alessa says:

My 4 year old asked for a singing toothbrush.

  377. My 2.5 year old would probably ask for crackers, if she got what we’re asking her… I am strongly considering getting her a box with small pieces of cloth inside, or shredded paper.

  378. Kelly says:

I Love Your Posts But I Have No Idea Why My Phone Is Capitalizing Each WOrd. I Bought Your Book A While Back And Have Been Showing It To Everyone. My Husband And I Are Planning On Trying For Kids Soon So You’re Showing Us What To Watch Out For!

  379. Tiffany C says:

    A guitar & a Strider bike

  380. I’m pretty sure, according to your list, that my two-year-old has skipped right to the four-year-old stage. There is no pleasing that boy. He’s as fickle as the weather.

  381. Colleen says:

My 3-year-old wants a sled – he probably wants a bunch of other things, too – he’s very suggestible! We made the mistake of walking into a toy shop the other day – he was in heaven!

  382. Mindy says:

Thanks for the giveaway, I really love all of her stuff!

  383. Jen says:

DH is obsessed with teenage mutant ninja turtles so he wants anything and everything related to them!

  384. Megan McKinstry says:

Right now my 2 year doesn’t talk (he’s in speech therapy) but if I had to guess he would want anything hot wheel/matchbox related. He loves cars. Or wooden puzzles which he also loves and they help encourage speech.

  385. AngieG says:

This is exactly how my son is! He’s 6 this year. It’s so much fun living through him this time of year.

  386. Charlene H. says:

My 2 and a half year old wants light up sneakers and my 5 month old wants to nurse…

  387. Jordan says:

My son would LOVE a kitchen and pretend food. Currently he uses the ‘tool station’ at grandmas as a pretend kitchen. I already know we can’t afford it though. I’m hoping I can atleast make the pretend food happen and a few books. #povertysucks

  388. Allison says:

3 boys at our house and the older two BOTH want Legos. Of course. The toddler just wants more cars! Or trains! Or whatever he’s currently holding in his hands!

  389. Jennifer says:

My daughter (4) did the circling everything in a toy catalog…and continues to give hints on every toy commercial that airs on TV. My son (5) has been having a really hard time behaving in school, so I had to do the PNP (Portable North Pole) video from Santa saying he is on the naughty list so no presents unless he can try very hard to improve. He did go through the toy magazines like his sister and mark things though.

  390. desiree says:

my three-year-old yesterday, “can you get me a car that’s just my size so I can drive it places and you won’t have to give me a ride? and I can give my baby brother or sister a ride too.” this wanted specifically a holiday request, but she thought it was a really good idea.

  391. Karianne says:

My lo is still only 20 months and doesn’t get the whole wish list thing. But if he did he would wish for his own vacuum cleaner (real, of course, not a stupid toy one!) that nobody could take away and that he could bring to bed with him every night.

  392. Jen says:

    Strollers

  393. Heather says:

He’s only 25 months, so he doesn’t know Christmas is a thing yet. He’s getting trains. Because he loves trains.

  394. Liz E says:

My almost 3 year old told Santa he wanted chocolate and a treat for baby brother 🙂

  395. Jennifer s. says:

The older two want gadgets, the toddler wants play food & the newborn is getting cloth diapers!

  396. Kaydee says:

    My boys want electronics.

  397. kelly says:

My kids want legos, video games and the younger 2 are drooling over the wooden waldorf sets!

  398. Devann says:

My son has a November birthday & got a mountain of toys. He has requested Santa bring Daddy a Donatello Ninja Turtle to match the Michelangelo one he just received so they can play together; and a Build a Bear. I told him he could use his birthday money on either one of those things but he said he’s pretty sure Santa has it covered.

  399. Meesa says:

I’m afraid to ask, but she might ask for more legos or something hello kitty.

  400. Tiffany says:

My 3 1/2 wants a drivable police car, and he assures us that he will share with his brother. He’s been talking about this police car for about four or five months now.
We recently got cable and my boys have discovered commercials. They “really want” a Stuffy.

  401. Shannon Mulholland says:

This is fantastic! Wait until he is 10 and tells you he bought what he wanted for Christmas already via amazon and used your credit card. 😉

  402. Vicki says:

My girls want everything Doc McStuffins!

  403. Teresa says:

The color sorting bowls are too cute!

  404. Amber says:

My niece has begged Santa for a box of legos and a (play) medical kit.

  405. karen says:

We’re still getting over my 11 year old’s birthday, where we gave him the cricket set he really wanted then as an added surprise bought him a brand new shiny bike and he got so upset he cried! Ungrateful little brat. So I think I’ll stick to his list for Christmas….
3 year old is much easier, I’ve been buying him little bits and pieces all year when I see them on special. Not sure about the newborn – obviously she doesn’t want or need anything, but her brothers will think it odd if we don’t get her much :-/

  406. My kids just shout “I want that” at every toy ad on the TV. And I never know what they really want because they just want everything!

  407. Trisha W. says:

My kids ages 3-16 are not very good about creating a wish list, so I have to do a lot of brain storming.

  408. Jess says:

mr 7 wants a toy machine gun, mr 6 wants a toy rocket launcher, mr soon to be 4 wants marbles and miss 2 wants babies (dollys)

  409. Annie says:

My son has decided he wants all of the legos. All of them. He is not discriminating.

  410. andrea says:

My 3 yr old wants a chimpamzee, cheese and gum…

  411. Laurie says:

Still have the letter my 3-yr. old (now 34) son dictated to Santa–he wanted a light bulb.

  412. Shannon says:

I wish my kiddos still asked for something other than money for Christmas. I still have my oldest son’s letter to Santa when he was 4 asking for a remote control that would control his little brother’s volume and mobility. I miss those days!

  413. Michelle L says:

    Big eye dolls… ugh

  414. Tracy says:

My 20 month old wants everything! But she is going to love the Pound A Peg and the Doc McStuffins doll she’s getting.

  415. cori says:

    video games 🙁

  416. Laura says:

My 4 year old wants a super hero costume, only the one he wants changes daily. My 2 year old wants whatever her brother currently has.

  417. Kara says:

My twins are 4. They want anything remote control – airplane, car, monster truck, helicopter, whatever they can think of that moves…

  418. EVERYTHING!! Lol. 14 y/o wants a tablet, 13 y/o wants a cellphone, 10 y/o wants anything to do with horses, and 2`1/2 y/o wants anything Dora or Doc McStuffins!

  419. Renea says:

6 year old has asked for a vanity. 3 year old wants everything she sees.

  420. Kristi says:

My 5 year old wants books from Santa. The expensive things she is asking Grandma… I think she has it figured out! My little one (almost 3 – that precious age) just wants a doll. Books and a doll, I can handle that!

  421. Emily says:

We are at 4 now, exactly as you described it. It is a special age.

  422. Jen kitchen says:

Three year old says, “I still don’t know, what I want for Cwitmas” One year old says “Awewa” which means Cinderella.

  423. Jen Auschwitz says:

He’s 1 so he’d probably want the cardboard box! That or an hour in the bathtub!

  424. Lynn says:

My 3 year old son wants ballet barbies and Rosie the Thomas train. My 7 month old wants cloth diapers in the next size up, he is huge!

  425. Anne Pernick says:

My daughter wants Legos (the Duplo category, with the bigger blocks and lovely colors!).

  426. Tineka says:

Christmas lists with my daughter have been nearly as interesting as in your house!

  427. angela says:

My 5 year old wants lalaloopsys, my 3 year old wants Octonauts… at least thats what they want today 🙂

  428. Anne says:

My chickie is only 2, but she loves blocks and tools, much to her father’s delight!

  429. Rachael K says:

What she’s getting is some blocks. What she wants is whatever is in front of her. Or what her cousins have 🙂

  430. Sarah says:

My 6 year old wants the entire toy catalog including games for the 3DS and Lego. My 3 year old doesn’t really get it this year and hasn’t really asked for anything.

  431. Ashley B says:

My twins are 18 months old, so this is the 2nd year that I have no idea what they want. But we’ve decided that they would like an electronic keyboard and a fisher price farm set. =)

  432. Kristi Pena says:

My oldest (who will be 16 Jan 9- I know great timing right!?) wants a car and the 5 year old wants a crossbow. Shoot me now, lol

  433. Corinna Lougheed says:

My son wants Thomas’ friend Percy…my husband wants all the trains. We settled on 5.

  434. Lynn N says:

My 18mo old doesn’t want anything. We’re asking for a tool set!

  435. jennifer wang says:

I love these toys. I’d most definitely get a set of the wooden peg dolls of the world (in 8 shades). My two boys are mixed race. One is clearly darker skinned than the other. They came home talking about diversity the other day, and the older one said “just because my skin is darker, does that mean I’m better? No.” To which the younger one followed with: “just because my skin is lighter, does that mean I’m better? No.” They think the two of them are diverse. It’s precious.

  436. Monica Duncan says:

My 7 year old wants Legos, my 3 year old wants a baby doll cradle, and my 2 year old loves dinosaurs and painting.

  437. Sarah Lyon says:

My daughter, even though she’s 3, doesn’t get the whole Christmas thing yet. She’s mildly autistic, so we just keep an eye out for what she really likes to play with in the store. This year? Trains!

  438. Andrea says:

D is 14 months, so right now, all he seems to want is everything in our kitchen cupboards and lots of empty boxes.

  439. Donna Armstrong says:

Love the counting bees – we keep bees and “bzzz” was my 16 month old’s first animal sound! Glad to see a fellow Pennsylvanian featured on your blog, too!

  440. Donna Armstrong says:

In my house, Legos rule with my older 2 sons (much to my husband’s annoyance).

  441. Kristan says:

My child is obsessed with Hex Bugs, though he doesn’t actually own any. He saw a commercial, and then I let him watch some toy reviews on YouTube. And now he can’t stop talking about Hex Bug Sharks. Luckily they aren’t very expensive and they’re small so they won’t irritate me.

  442. Kim says:

Thanks for the giveaways! Keep the funny posts coming, I love your kid stories.

  443. Raminta says:

with a nearly 4 and nearly 2 year old, we’re big into imagination right now… set up a fort and go to the moon!!! those silks might be a fun addition to our toys!
So far, neither have expressed any specific, long-lasting needs in the toy department 🙂

  444. Jenn says:

    very insightful!

  445. nurture says:

    11 yo BOY: airsoft rifle

    9 yo BOY: airsoft pistol

7 yo BOY Chima lego set

sweet BABY GIRL under a year old : She is getting her first doll, a handmade one from etsy dressed in a matching oufit…awww~so cute! from yarnandclothclothier

  446. Erica says:

    Too funny!

My kids want Legos and some instruments for a garage band (they are 8, 6, 3.5, and 1.5).

  447. Tiffany says:

My 2 year old wants Mickey Mouse. Since he has like eleventy billion Mickeys he’s getting Mickey blocks.

  448. Amanda Derr says:

    My kids want it all…lol

  449. Caren D. says:

Ohhh, love handmade gifts!!! Yeah! Will be getting something educational (can’t help it).

  450. Susan says:

Woot woot! Thanks for the opportunity!

  451. KipT says:

My 2 1/2 yo wants clothes and books. Yay! Indoctrination successful for this year!

  452. Alison says:

I’ve always told my daughter that Santa isn’t real, he’s a game people play at Christmas. She still happily writes him a letter and sits on his lap at the mall. Today I was looking at toys on amazon and she pointed out the one she wants and told me to tell Santa to get it for her.

It’s nice because she still gets to enjoy Santa and I don’t have to lie to her.

  453. Danielle says:

Everything! But really wii u and legos and a Crayola marker maker.

  454. Lydia says:

My oldest wants a Dusty Crophopper glider plane. My twins are two and they are getting a school bus and a baby doll. Oh and I got a HUGE set of Loving Family furniture and dolls along with the giant doll house on Craigslist for $50 a couple months ago. Their grandma has a set an they all love to play with it. I’m so excited about that present.

  455. Kate says:

this is hilarious. I especially remember the 2 year old phase. This year (my daughter is 3) we went to Kohl’s together for black friday shopping. She wanted the entire store.

  456. Cristin says:

Last year (age 3) my daughter kept me on my toes by telling me she was going to ask Santa for 1 thing, then asking for a completely different thing when she visited Santa (after I had already bought the first thing, of course). This year (age 4) she is taking it super seriously and says she has to think about it. Which probably means she is just going to wait until the last minute when I’m already done shopping.

  457. Kim c says:

Your blog is the best! You crack me up and I always think, “wow, I wish I could draw as well as she does.”

  458. Rebecca H says:

Toys? No. My 21 month old wants to drive. Toys only hold her attention for a few moments, and can be put away without issue. But try to put her in the car seat when she wants to sit in the driver seat, and she screams for the entire car trip. If I win, maybe I’ll give the playset to my niece. Or at least keep it until my daughter is older and will appreciate it.

  459. Becky says:

My 5 year old wants everything from the Traget catalog that accidentally got left out one Sunday morning (Furreal cat, Barbie house, play doh ice cream machine) – ugh. My 2 year old will be happy with anything that has wheels!

  460. Erin says:

My 2 year old would love any musical instrument, tools and things having to do with fire fighters.

  461. Adrienne says:

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  462. Jennifer Balina says:

They want everything my little pony and sonic the hedgehog

  463. Zoe says:

This post is the cutest, especially age 4! My son would love the road crew playset.

  464. Tracie says:

My daughhter just turned 3 today and is starting to get really specific causing “Santa” to be worried. I’ve been Googling : “a blue truck to fit all her Little People princesses and a tiny tiny plane to fir her Squinkie princesses”

  465. Daria says:

At 19 months he is still fairly happy with boxes and paper but duplos are gaining popularity and the toy vacuum he is getting should be a big hit.

  466. A typewriter to be a “real news reporter”, Nightmare Moon (My Little Pony), books.

  467. Myssie says:

The binder is genius. You have a Crappy Genius on your hands! My 8yo asked for an “RC helicopter that shoots bullets (not real ones, just like nerf or something)”. I answered with “no, you’ll shoot your eye out!”

  468. Colleen says:

I have 2 boys also. My 3 year old just wants to circle everything in the catslogs , but asks for everything he already has. My 5 year old wants everything ninja turtles and crafty stuff.

  469. Laura says:

My seven year old wants a guitar – his one year old brother wants a box and some wrapping paper to shred and something gross to chew on because everything I give him to chew on isn’t gross enough so he has to pick up the one thing on the floor that the vacuum didn’t get.

  470. jamscraps says:

My daughter is 6 and she’s going through what Crappy Boy did at 5. She wants everything she sees. Hopefully she is happy with whatever people pick from her endless list. I love the scrapbook list. What a treasure!

  471. Brigette says:

Such a sweet thing for The Enchanted Cupboard to do. Thank you, even if I don’t win. :0)

  472. Shelli says:

This is the first year that I think Christmas will actually mean something for our 3-yr old. Hooray!

  473. jessica says:

our holiday is almost over (channukah), but my daughter got a million things from my in laws, and her favourite gift was a booklet of dora stickers.

  474. Katie Nguyen says:

My two year old son wants a red train. He already has an abundance of trains, and he has a red train, but that’s all he’s asked for!

  475. Lynne W. says:

    So many cute things!

My daughter is 2, so she’s still fairly oblivious to Christmas (though she does like stories about Baby Jesus.)

  476. DebbieKL says:

My little ones still don’t get it. Surprisingly my 6 year old hasn’t come up with a list yet.

  477. Cindy says:

Ah… the Christmas wish list… so much of the magic was in the anticipation… and all the little touches, like the elf peeking out of the stocking or the perfect new train car added to the train around the Christmas tree…

  478. Ashleigh says:

Too funny! We’re still on the circle-everything-in-the catalogue stage, and totally skipped the adorable want-something-for-my-sibling phase.

  479. Nicole says:

Why does everything make 4 yr olds mad????

  480. Melody Cason says:

My daughter is 2 and doesn’t understand wanting something for Christmas. But I bet she would LOVE a dollhouse. She also likes the rainbow things on the enchanted cupboard site.

  481. Liz H says:

My kids are 1 and 3. I don’t ask the 3 yr old, he’s just happy when wrapped stuff appears that’s for him

  482. Krystina says:

Brendon LOVES looking at the toy shop books. He hasn’t circled things yet, but he gazes at them for minutes (he’s four, attention span is lacking) and taps it saying “this, I need my angry birds” or he wants “a lightsaber that lights up and makes noises!” My two year old would he happy with “trains! Or books!! Or a backpack! Yay!”

  483. Melissa Yatzeck says:

My kids have an Amazon wishlist. Every time we encounter something they want, it gets added. It makes everyone happy. 🙂

  484. Amy B says:

My kids are 1 and 2.5 so they don’t really “get” the concept yet. But they like anything with wheels so probably some trucks or something!

  485. Courtney says:

I have no idea what they want. I think they are most excited about grandparents visiting and the new baby on the way. We got them some books and a lego trio toy, among other things.

  486. Wyndee B says:

My 7 year old has only written to Santa once when she was 3 and that was to tell him not to come to our house. She was terrified of having someone come in the house at night.

  487. Liz Jimenez says:

My son is only 18 months so he doesn’t know what he wants but he loves tools so he’s getting a tool bench.

  488. Rachel DeFo says:

My kid won’t tell me anything he wants cause he’s not quite two, but we got him a ball pit and a laptop and digital camera for toddlers.

    SO EXCITED!

  489. Deborah M. says:

My daughter wants a labradoodle and playsilks. She will get playsilks, but no labradoodle.

  490. Holly says:

My 2 year old doesn’t ask for much. Elmo, planes, horses, and “‘saurs” (dinosaurs) are all hits though…

  491. mb says:

My little man is just one now! I want to get him some (more) tonka trucks. His dad, who is a professional musician, wants to get him some (more) musical instruments. Since his dad is a ‘struggling artist’ we’ll have figure out a compromise there…

  492. Ju says:

My Two year old just wants cars. So we bought him LOTS of different cars!

  493. LJ says:

    argh love playsilks for tents!

  494. Celeste says:

He wants a red race car. No, an orange race car. No, a green tractor. No, a purple race car. No, a ride on a ferry boat. (I’m guessing that came from watching Mighty Machines.)

  495. Jeni says:

My kids want a pink minnie mouse car.

And my baby probably just wants nursies and a chance to attack the puppy.

  496. Kelly says:

I have a 4yo who wants everything advertised on television including the pooping dog game…and gets mad at me and screams “NO!” When I ask her later about the same things…and a 6yo who wants trains, anything to do with trains, and a Disney Infinity for the wii we don’t have…

  497. Lisa MH says:

My oldest had at the very top of her list “My cat to come home” and THANK THE GODS she got it. He came back one day before we moved. *phew*

Now she wants everything she sees on tv. My son also wants everything he sees on tv. My youngest is 20 months and really likes playing in trash. She’s easy.

  498. Laura says:

My beasts all want video games. One also wants an iPod, and another a PS vida. They’re getting coal.

  499. Mel & Nolie Raelin says:

My kid is about to turn 1 and he just loves opening and closing boxes, and ripping apart catalogues. So Crappy Mama is 100% on the money there!

  500. Mary says:

My kiddo wants Sorry!, Legos, and Mario Party 8!

  501. Jody P. says:

My 7 year old keeps whispering his Xmas list to our Elf on the Shelf when I am not nearby. I’ll ask “What did you tell the Elf you wanted?” He replies “I can’t tell you, it’s a secret.” Real helpful, kiddo!

  502. Jenn says:

MY kid is only 16 months but keeps asking for Minnie (mouse) even though she doesn’t have one… so I guess that is what she wants!

  503. Jane Ahearn says:

I love your posts! And thank you so much for featuring a giveaway from a crafty small business. I love the custom painted dolls and my four year old daughter would love to have a family set. (Giveaway aside, I think I’ll be purchasing from the talented Beccijo.) This year, the four year old did, indeed, circle everything in the Toys R Us catalogue, but I know she really just wants dolls and accessories and a sword (she IS a mighty Viking princess!). My nine year old son wants anything Minecraft and a new bike. They also believe that Santa can make anything in his shop. Le sigh. Luckily, the craft fair circuit was good to us this year, we may be able to pull off a small miracle…

  504. Jenn says:

I know my three-year-old wants a doll. She will DIE without one. Ah.hem. And my six-year-old wants roller skates. Not blades, skates. Yeah, that’s easy to find. 🙂

  505. Beth says:

My girl wants everything. Until about two minutes later when she gets distracted by something she wants even more.

  506. ErikaKuchenmeister says:

My 4 year old probably wants trains or a garbage truck but he has quite a few already. He is geting some awesome books , and so is his little bro (1.5 yrs). There will be toys too, but not quite sure what yet. Once again, we’re trying to shrink Christmas down in terms of the million gifts they get each year. (Is that possible??)

  507. Teresa says:

My boy would probably love the trees to add to his train set.

  508. Kathy says:

My older kids are getting, well older, so the 12 yo wants expensive stuff and so does the 10 year old. Which means they get fewer gifts for sure! And told no. Sometimes it’s not fun to be the mom.

It is fun this year buying for my 18 mo old daughter. First girl and she is getting some girly stuff!

  509. Becky says:

My son doesn’t understand a wish list yet at 18 months, but I have a very long one for him!

  510. Lauren Barker says:

My daughter is dying for a bike..she is only 2, but for some reason is obsessed!

  511. karina says:

my poor deprived-of-sugar 6 year old girl wants a candy cane, cookies, a white chocolate polar bear and jelly beans. Oh and a pink lava lamp and a slack line! Random much?

  512. Genevieve M says:

My dad used to ask us kids what we wanted for Christmas every year and then specifically not buy it because “what’s the surprise in that?”. Now he asks what I think my kids (2 & 5) want for Christmas and still won’t buy it even though they have no idea what I’m telling him to get them. Maybe he’s worried that they’ll torture me to extract the gift information and then his surprise will be ruined.

  513. Danielle Lamoureux says:

My 8 year old wants a cell phone and a doll that pees….very odd combination. Lol

  514. Megan Gardner says:

She can’t talk yet but from the way she’s poking me from inside I’d say she wants some more space! She’s due just before Christmas so I think we can oblige 🙂

  515. Jen says:

I asked my 4 year old what she wanted from Santa and she told me that of course (duh mom!) Santa already knew. Verrrrry helpful.

  516. Liz says:

My daughter is not yet two, so no list yet, but I’m sure if I could understand Dothraki (aka toddler babble), she would ask for (in order of preference):
    1) the kitty cat (he has thus far eluded her)
    2) the neighbor’s kitty cats
    3) her godparents’ kitty cats
    4) ice chips
    5) toliet water

  517. Megan says:

Still at 9 months over here. . . So probably just some tissue to shred, a floor littered with bite sized morsels to investigate and some mommy’s milk.

  518. Tobi says:

My 2-year-old doesn’t realize he can request presents, but that’s okay because we know what he wants better than he does…a stuffed Cookie Monster! He LOVES Cookie Monster and stuffed animals, so it’s the perfect gift!

  519. Megan says:

My 8 and 6 year olds are very specific, but my 3.5 year old still doesn’t really understand the concept. When I ask what she wants she gets frustrated and yells “I’ll open what I get!” I would think it was sweet if I truly believed she’d fallen for my “you get what you get” mantra, but I really freaking want to know what she wants so there are no tears on Christmas morning!

  520. Katie T says:

My 4 year old is fun this year, he wants everything. Any ad he sees on TV, he wants it. However, there have been a few consistent things (the Dusty Crophopper track and a bike). I asked my 7 year old what I should write on his list (we exchange gifts with extended family and have an online list so we don’t all get the same thing) and he freaked out about it. He threw himself down on the ground and whined for a good 15 minutes. I figure he can get some coal.

  521. Stephanie M says:

Love the toy catalog with EVERYTHING circled!

  522. Julie says:

yippee, I love giveaways! I hadnt heard of the Enchanted Cupboard before, I’ll have to check it out.

  523. Anne says:

My 4 yo would probably say “Balloons!” (She just had her birthday & is still sleeping with the mylar one she got from her aunt floating over her head.)

  524. Heather says:

My kids want a skylander. But that means we have to get the whole setup in order to use the one they want. Sneaky. They might get coal.

  525. trina says:

I love this, especially the scrapbook list! My girls are older and very different in their listing styles. Firstborn at 15 is still making comprehensive lists with categories and asterisks. Younger daughter at age 8 wants most whatever she sees that second and it changes daily but she won’t write a list, generally. She still has strong faith in Santa bringing her what she wants however. Not sure how I’m gonna get out of that one…

  526. Rebekah says:

My almost-four-year-old told me today, “Mommy, please will you get me Optimus Prime? Pleeeeeease. I want it to be a surprise.”

  527. Melissa Russell says:

My daughter hasn’t asked for anything yet, but if it has a princess or Minnie Mouse on it it will be a hit.

  528. Olivia L says:

My 3 year old just discovered TV commercials, and now she wants everything. Luckily she’s still pretty distractable…

  529. Martha says:

What an awesome Etsy artist! Fun stuff for my kiddo. Bookmarked.

  530. Aimee says:

So cute! My five year old did the catalog with everything circled last year too. He is currently loving crafts, so I’ll have to float the scrapbook idea to him. Fun times.

  531. RaeAnne says:

    Dd wants unicorns!

  532. Lorilei says:

    Cardboard and wrapping paper 🙂

  533. Anna says:

    Marble run

  534. SD Murray says:

Mine wants the video games I’ve deemed inappropriate.

  535. Rachel says:

My 7 year old always wants Legos, for every birthday and Christmas since he was 5. My 2 year old doesn’t ask yet but is totally into kitties and puppies.

  536. Shannan says:

My 2.5 year old doesn’t seem to get the concept but she did answer “a car” once. She’s getting musical instruments, Doc McStuffins figurines, doctor kit and my parents are getting her a trampoline, which I think she’s going to LOVE!

  537. Jen says:

My daughter has finally hit the age that she actually WANTS things. I was surprised it took until almost four, but it’s happening. She actually goes back to the same toys over and over and consistently asks for them. Since she seems to have a five second memory otherwise, this is blowing my mind. Needless to say, I’ve gotten almost everything she’s asked for. Thankfully it isn’t the entire toy catalog.

  538. Raizy says:

The age 1 picture is so spot on, drool flying and everything!

  539. Cathy Mac says:

Miss 5 really would like 3 baby chickens for Christmas. She is also convinced Santa is bringing her a robotic vaccuum cleaner!

  540. Lea says:

I still make those lists. With ratings and stuff. I’m 27. 😉

  541. Elizabeth says:

Mr 7 wants a perplexus rookie, mr 4 wants as many Lego sets as he can think of, mr 1 wants whatever he gets.

  542. Di says:

This kid wants a dog. A real dog. Not gonna happen.

  543. Nicole says:

We got our then 5.5 yr old a lego set last year, but as he had a then 6 mth old baby brother, he would get in trouble for having it over the house, or it would sit under his bed forgotten about. Now we have another baby boy on the way, our poor eldest definitely isn’t getting any more lego or small toys. Lucky he is Skylanders crazy, and loves anything to do with space so he is getting a light thing that shines constellations on the roof of his bedroom from us and Skylanders and pool toys from the grandparents. Our now 19 mth old is getting puppets and play phones, but will probably just want to play with the Skylanders like his big brother!

  544. Paige says:

My kids want a new bike, Legos and a drum set (yeah- bring on the noise!!!)

  545. Johanna says:

Lol this is funny, whenever my son sees a toy catalog or a toy commercial he says “mine, Mama, thats mine”. He is 3.

  546. Lisa Bartels says:

“I don’t really remember what we got him that year but I’m sure it made him mad.”

    ROFL! Gotta love age 4.

  547. Rebecca Morris says:

I love the binder idea. Very clever kid you have there. We haven’t done lists yet (and my oldest is 8) because I hate feeling constrained. I know that whatever they get they’ll be thrilled about and most of it would never have been on any list they’d have made.

  548. Jennifer says:

My teenage baby is getting a bunch of gift cards…only because he won’t give anyone the slightest idea of what he wants other than a new car which isn’t going to happen. My toddler is getting learning games/toys so the stuff from Enchanted Cupboard would go along with that fabulously!

  549. Jessica B. says:

No matter what I get my 2-year-old, the box it came in will be a bigger hit than the actual present.

  550. Kristen M says:

For the last few years my oldest (now 9) has been all about the circle and star rating system. His name is Riley so we get one R, two Rs, circled and starred. The 5 year old wants everything. Especially if it has a cool commercial

  551. Chrystal Lowder says:

So excited about the chance to win! My children, both boys-2 and 4 would LOVE just about anything for sale in her shop! And this post is so true, my two year old wants whatever his older brother wants and the 4 year old wants everything plus random specific things like chocolate cake under the tree. Weirdo.

  552. ah yes, the evolution of wish lists. i wonder if they would believe that i at the ripe old age of 42 haven’t even thought of one thing i want (in way of material presents at least) but my youngest (5) just recently watching a couple of shows on network tv with her older siblings. so she wants just about everything.

  553. Heidi says:

I have a one year old, so still in the cardboard box phase. But I’m making him slipper socks that don’t slip, because we have hardwood floors and he falls all day long.
    https://www.etsy.com/shop/CrochetLightly

  554. Allison Watson says:

    Pick me!! 🙂

  555. Jennifer says:

Yay for giveaways! And my 5 year old’s list is just like crappy boy’s 5 year old list! Hah!!!!

  556. T. says:

My boys want every train on the Isle of Sodor….and Misty Island.

  557. Carrejo says:

We’re currently in the 2 year old stage. It’s both awesome and frustrating.

  558. Amy W says:

Mine are still too young to really get it, but the 3 yr old has asked for playdoh

  559. Erin K says:

8 year old: Books and a marshmallow gun
7 year old: Some huge dinosaur and art supplies
3 year old: “presents!” He has no idea.

  560. Emerald says:

My four year old is apparently ahead by a year, he did the “circle every toy in the catalogue” thing this year. However he was very specific about ‘needing’ skylanders swapforce lol.

  561. Serena Harwell says:

    What a cool give away!

  562. carole says:

My four year old (twin) daughters want small cars (hot wheel type), drawing paper, whipped cream from a can, lollipops (an endless supply I would guess, ha!), books, and building toys for Christmas. 🙂

  563. Laura says:

My girls don’t know what they want. My 4 YO changes her mind every day, and my 2 yo still doesn’t understand christmas, lol.

  564. Amy says:

My daughter says she wants more bunnies (we have one), oh and bunnies for Mommy and Daddy for Christmas too!

  565. Angie says:

My son wants a tablet. I got a great cheap one on groupon!

  566. ashley ph says:

we don’t have regular tv so my three-year-old doesn’t see commercials…i don’t think he has the concept of asking for something and then having it show up! we are putting it off as long as possible lol. we are planning on getting him some boring things he needs while we can still get away with it. 😀

  567. Heather says:

My 4 year old wants the Lego Aisle 🙂

  568. teagansmomma says:

My 2 1/2yo daughter saw a red Shelby convertible power-wheels sort of car at Costco and fell in LOVE with it.

  569. Nora N says:

My lil one wants a bike (or anything with wheels on it) the 7 yr old still hasn’t let us know

  570. Sara R. says:

My daughter wants a lifesized stuffed cheetah. I think that its a little over the top, but I’m pretty sure Grandma has already bought it for her.

  571. RileysMom says:

We are at the one year old stage so I’m way more excited to get him certain things than he could possibly be to get them (miniature soccer ball — yes! child’s laptop so maybe he we stop smashing the keys on mine — let’s try it!) It is magical how he loves every toy — even the “toys” he finds around the house like my measuring cups.

  572. Laura G says:

Erm.. I haven’t asked! The four year old most likely wants either things that light up and make noise or whatever his little brother gets. The two year old most likely wants whatever one of his brothers has, and the four month old wants whatever he can cram in his mouth! They’ll be getting blocks for Christmas. I doubt they’d think to ask for them, but they love to build, and I think a larger set will be played with for years. And be far less obnoxious than blinking singing pieces of plastic. 😀

  573. Becky Z says:

Yeah, when my first was little, I thought I was winning when he was so generous and not greedy about Christmas! Ha! Chalk up one more thing I gave myself credit for that he outgrew! 🙂 He still rocks, but definitely wants things!

  574. Kristie L says:

We have four kids. Since we already have WAY too many toys rattling around the house, our 2-year-old is getting some My Little Ponies and some dress-up clothes that used to belong to her big sister. (She couldn’t care less, and big sis thinks it’s great that her baby sister will be playing with the same toys!) 🙂

  575. Pam says:

When my son was 4, all he wanted for Christmas was a “Lion King stuffed animal.” I was worried about where to find one until I was at a yard sale where I found a brand new HUGE lion for $1.00. Jackpot! He still has it 10 years later.

  576. Hillary says:

My four year old son wants and is getting the two foot tall transformer Metroplex :o)

  577. Christina says:

My five year old wants faeries, my two year old wants bouncy balls, and my nine month old wants to eat my hair.

  578. Carmen says:

My 2 year old says he wants everything, literally EVERYTHING, he sees advertised. I just keep saying “Okay, I’ll look into that…” I have a feeling that line will only work for a few years.

  579. Carrie Reichelt says:

My two older kids (ages 7 and 10) want things like a Kindle, IPad, xBox games, legos (which they already have a gazillion of). My 3-year old hasn’t really said anything but he NEEDS jeans and a bedspread for his twin bed we are getting him.

  580. Anna M. says:

My girl wants cars or anything that is even remotely mechanical like. Cars, planes, helicopters, trains, motorcycles… you name it, it has her interest. I’m afraid I have a future need for speed junkie on my hands, or one of those X-gamers. Oh my nerves…

  581. Lindsay says:

With 5 kids Christmas Lists are a pain… My 2 step-kids never give me a list, my 5 year old wants everything, my 9 year old won’t tell me anything, and my 3 year old doesn’t want anything more than Minnie Mouse… And no, I don’t mean a Minnie Mouse toy, I mean Minnie Mouse literally… GAH!

  582. amy says:

pink and purple almost anything really. Lots of talk about some combination of wings that go on your arms and feet and “really, actually work”, ie allow a four-year-old to fly with “the unicorns”. The dolls have separate requests.

  583. sylvia says:

my 6 year old wants a rainbow loom and my 3 year old wants barbies.

  584. Kate C says:

Mine’s 18 months, so she’d be pleased with a box of kleenex. She’s getting a play kitchen, though 🙂

  585. Jessica M says:

I don’t have kids yet, but watch my niece and I would love to get some of these for her! Especially some of the play food sets!

  586. Catalina Vindas says:

I think my 1 year old wants his cousin’s little doll LOL I bought some presents and somehow he found the doll and keeps trying to get it :p

  587. Elizabeth says:

My two older (5 and 3) girls want a silver necklace. My baby wants wrapping paper to eat. 🙂

  588. melissa says:

Your son sounds adorable. My 8 year old wants every electronic that exists! She is so difficult this year!

  589. Sarah C. says:

My daughter is still in the drooley stage. This will be our last list-less Christmas ever. 🙂

  590. Kayla Kingsley says:

The kids loves the pegasus family! (I’d try to convince her to go unicorns though :D)

  591. Erin C. says:

They all love trains at the moment.

  592. Joyce says:

My daughter also circles everything, and wants everything she sees. But she really wanted a mermaid, so she’ll get that. Her brother wanted Mack from cars. They also want live pets, which they are not getting. A cat and dog are enough!

  593. Mimi says:

DS is in the asking for everything in the catalog phase. I guess eventually he’ll figure out that that means that mommy picks!

  594. Melissa H says:

My son always asks for dinosaurs, and my daughter wants a dolly with pink cheeks. 🙂

  595. Beth J says:

    Sorting toys and puzzles

  596. Sadie says:

My boys are four and autistic but this year they sort if understand you get gifts with Christmas. They have actually pointed to toys they might want! Yay!

  597. Karin says:

    Oldest only wants Legos.
Middle wants a “big Thomas track” and animal magnets.
Baby wants us to take the gate down so he can attack the tree and climb on the fireplace.

  598. Julie says:

My oldest is at the circle everything in the catalogue stage. My youngest couldn’t care. And I feel like they have way too many toys as it is, so we’re going to be picky this year!

One of my oldest’s childs requests when he was two was for a Christmas tree. I tried to explain that we’d get a Christmas tree set up and he could ask for something else, but that’s all he wanted, so he got his own mini tree that year.

  599. Ruth Chowdhury says:

My 7.5 year old son wants Lego Chima castle/city & an Airhog helicopter. My 5 year old daughter wants a flying fairy, my 3 year old son wants a Veggietales puzzle. My toddler won’t tell me what he wants. 😉

  600. Julie says:

yeah for one year old baby needs!

  601. Anina Duren says:

I am not joking, my twins (3 almost 4) are insistent that they get a toilet for their barbies. They are very distressed that barbie apparently has no where to relieve herself.

  602. mariah says:

My boys want legos, boats and citiblocs. As of yesterday they want their daddy’s job back. Who lets someone go right before Christmas because they can do the job themselves and save money?

  603. Brittany sanders says:

The little one has no idea what Christmas is, and the big one just can’t decide!

  604. Lori says:

He wants a ninja. How he knows what a ninja is at four years old with no tv, I can only guess.

  605. Shelly says:

My 5 year old is in the “I want all the toys” phase. Hoping there won’t be huge disappointment on Christmas.

  606. Diana A says:

3.5yo b/g twins, and I have no clue what to get them! When I ask them what they want my girl says “I want a rainbow, that is very tiny so it is only over our house, so I could touch it because it would not be too fragile” and my boy says he wants “to go to Mimi & Poppy’s house (which we already do about 1x/week). Their answers are soooo cute, but also not super helpful 🙂

  607. Robin says:

My little man is 1. I have to say, I went a little overboard with the toys this year for Christmas. I hadn’t bought toys in so long, that going shopping for him made me feel like a kid again! Can’t wait for Christmas!

  608. Trisha Bowers says:

My kids never gave me lists until my middle child started when she was 9. After that they all realized that they were more likely to get what they wanted if Mommy actually knew what they wanted.

  609. Missy says:

My son is 14 months, and is currently happy with tinned baked beans and spaghetti-os. He will be getting a big Tonka truck though… His dad and i would love to play with it!

  610. Kirby says:

My son wants a Lego set, an ATV!! A new bike, skateboard, and lots of other things. He has his toy catalog sorted and circled what he wants…lol love this blog!

  611. Allyson says:

My daughter has outgrown toys. Fortunately, my son and husband have not. (They both want a TARDIS for Christmas.)

  612. Bethany says:

My 3 year old has now figured out that she will be getting presents for Christmas and that she can ask for things she wants. So now every time we go to the store she asks for whatever she sees. It’s right along with your circle-everything-in-the-catalog year, but at the store instead. And we have had some meltdowns when she asks if she will get a certain thing she sees and I say no. I think I will do the rest of my shopping online.

  613. Esther says:

My 4 year old son really likes dolls and makes up stories with them. He wants a doll with long hair but it can’t be a doll for girls because his friends would laugh at him :-S
He’d really like a custom made doll with long hair!

  614. chrissy says:

My kids want LEGOS and more LEGOS.

  615. Melissa says:

My 3 year old is still non-verbal so he hasn’t really told us what he wants for Christmas yet. He loves playing with his Mega Blocks so we’re going to buy him a couple new sets. He also likes Jake & the Neverland Pirates so we’re going to get him something for that.

  616. barrie says:

oh those toys are wonderful! please pick me!!! so that i can present them to my now 7-month-old who will move beyond the ‘oooh this wrapping paper is just as awesome as this choking device thingy’ phase and appreciate real toys soon enough 😉

  617. Rebecca says:

My son wants a pet turtle! Yay!

  618. Lynn says:

My daughter will only be two months old this Christmas…so I imagine she’ll be content with a few bottles, diaper changes and naps 😉

  619. Christina F. says:

she’s two, so she doesn’t really “get” christmas yet. so we’re letting all our relatives spoil her silly and we’re just getting her something small to open on christmas morning.

  620. Liz says:

I use upcoming gift events as an excuse to not buy stuff now. “Let’s take a picture and add it to your gift list!” gets a cheerful “okay Mommy!” from the 5-year old. This year she was all about jewelry kits and beads and she also wanted some temporary tattoos.

  621. Mimi Sheffer says:

I don’t have kids, but I have two nieces, 2 and 4 months. The two year old loves matching colors, so I’ll probably get her something along those lines!

  622. Laurie Coursey says:

Oh my heavens… those family dolls are so adorable!

  623. Rachel says:

I have a 6 mo old that we still haven’t figured out what to give and a 2.5 year old who doesn’t know what to ask for! He’s really into pirates, so we are getting him a pirate ship and other pirate things.

  624. Chriss says:

My little man wants anything with Elmo on it.

  625. Mehera ortiz says:

My son loves anything trains or planes. And he loves books.

  626. eireann good says:

My two year old still doesn’t get it so I think he would ask for a new hammer or a spoon. He loves kitchen spoons!

  627. Stephanie Jacobson says:

my little ponies from build a bear. and a fairy with wings that really fly.

  628. Lisa Marie says:

What a lovely giveaway! It was fun window shopping. Thanks!

  629. Tara says:

My 3.5 year old doesn’t quite get that she can ask for what she wants. When asked what she wants Santa to bring, she just said ‘presents!’ and ‘I don’t know, Mama, can you tell me?’ But she’s also in the phase where she changes her mind a bazillion times a day!

  630. Heather P. says:

I don’t have any kids myself (yet), but I do have an almost 4 yo niece and she hasn’t really asked for anything specific, just toys and books in general. She is always wanting to learn, so I figure some of the toys from The Enchanted Cupboard would be right up her alley ^_^

  631. My 5 year old wants pretty much anything she sees. Ever. The toddler wants one of whatever Big Sister has. In a complementary color.

  632. Kim J says:

He wants teenage mutant ninja turtles things

  633. Tiffany says:

My oldest nephew (7 yrs) writes his Santa Letter for himself and his little brothers (3 yrs and 9 months). This year he “helped” the youngest ask for Santa presents. He said “We’ll get you something washable since you drool a lot now.” Too funny.

  634. Kerri says:

Both my boys want Skylanders, so at least it will be easy to please both of them. My oldest (6) also wants: Rainbow Loom, Pokemon and BayBlades (and about a billion other things)!

  635. Hanna says:

My little one is a year old, so doesn’t comprehend gifts yet. I’m most excited about the toy broom she’s getting from her grandparents, since she’s started showing an interest in “helping” while I sweep. 🙂

  636. Tara says:

I haven’t asked my boys what they want yet. We have a birthday to get past before I can even think about Christmas. I really need to get more organised!!!

  637. Amy says:

All my 3y old son talks about is getting car transporter, & my 9y old daughter would like a nice remote control car.

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  638. Vanessa Urias says:

I keep asking my daughter what she wants for Christmas and her reply is nothing! But what do you really want for Christmas….ummmmm nothing. Lately shes been into puzzles. I think I will find a few floor puzzles for her this year.

  639. Kerry says:

Wow, what a giveaway! I want way too many things in this shop.

  640. DrL says:

My 3 year old wants a pink tiger and a purple dragon, to go with the purple tiger and pink dragon she already has. I guess Santa needs to go shopping one more time 😉

  641. Nike says:

My daughter is 6 months. So far she’s demonstrating an interest in her friend’s balls and Sophie. So, we’re thinking rubber teething toy, some bath toys and balls.

  642. Jessica Ross says:

My kids want the rainbow badly!!!

  643. Brooke says:

My boys are three and five, and what they currently want most of all is whatever toy is currently being pimped on the TV. I’ve been asked for the Glow Pillow Pets SO MANY TIMES.

  644. Megan Smith says:

My 2 1/2 year old son asked for a yellow kite (thank you, Amazon!) and a cookie. When I told him that Santa is usually the one who gets cookies for Christmas, he had the saddest look on his face I think I’ve ever seen. And then proceeded to ask, so sweet and innocently, “Will Santa share one cookie with me?” So, now I want to buy him a bakery.

  645. Laura says:

Everything in all the toy aisles at Target! All the things!

  646. Ellie says:

Respectively for my four girls books, roller skates, a baby and a stuffed polar bear. I ignored the Xbox request.

  647. Sandra Bargas says:

My son has mentioned a couple of things he has seen on TV, but honestly, they are still young enough (5 & 3) that I can still decide what they want for them…..it makes my life easier

  648. Kristen Eilerts says:

My two year old is holding strong on a “pink baby doll” our five year old is wavering between roller skates and a remote control car. This post reminds me of the hours spent with the Sears catalog circling all I dreamed of owning. 🙂

  649. Rana says:

I love your blog. I’m not sure his I found it but all your posts have me rolling. My 4yo son pretty much asks for everything cars. He is obsessed with cars and trucks. He really love the hot wheels cars so we know we can’t go wrong if we get him something like that.

  650. Christine R says:

I asked my son what he wanted for Christmas and he said “Ponies”. I’m pretty sure he means the hasbro app I have on my phone (he’s only two).. but if he means the real deal, I’m afraid he’ll be disappointed.

  651. Lyndsi says:

My baby boys are 3 1/2 and 1.
Neither of them totally understand the concept of Christmas. My 3 1/2 year old, Matthew, has a learning disability for speech so when I ask him what he wants he just says “no” because that’s his favorite word.

  652. Sara says:

My 3.5 year old has recently become obsessed with batman. And Legos. So naturally she wants a Lego batman minifigure (done), cat woman (found one), a vehicle of some kind (easy) and green arrow and his plane (wtf? Do they make those? I can’t find one anywhere!)
She’s already passed off several stuffed animals to her new sister (4months old) but still wants to get her a doll of her very own. We’ll how shopping this weekend goes…

  653. Elizabeth says:

My nearly-4-year-old wants “a rocket ship with fire comin’ out for blastin’ off!” and “a red airplane with a one propeller goin’ round-round” and “tiny baby in blanket for snugglin'” and “Mr. Feely (Mr. McFeely from Mr. Rogers) come to us house an’ say “Happy Delivery””.

My newly-3-year-old (yeah, I’m one of those extra adventurous moms who had single births less than a year apart…) wants “fauty-eight ladybugs” and “bum-um bee dis big (arms wide)” and “go to store, right back, you stay here! just me!”

My soon-to-be-born overdue baby wants TO GET OUT OF MY BODY if there is ANY justice in the universe!

  654. Kara K says:

My coworkers son once told me that all little bad boys get clothes for christmas. My nephews are getting clothes and books. I’m the worst aunt ever.

  655. Brittany Miller says:

    Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs and more Dinosaurs

  656. Laura Sheriff says:

    I’d love to win this!

  657. Carolina Little says:

My daughter wants a scooter and we are getting her that and a kitchen for her birthday that is DEC 22!

  658. KASP says:

She’s too young to care. She just cuddles with stuffed animals and thinks everything else is a ball…

  659. Mary D says:

My children would love the dinosaurs or any of the color sorting toys! Or the little people. Or the rainbow. Who am I kidding, they would love all of them!!

  660. Helen says:

What do my kids want? Here is my facebook status from a couple weeks ago.
E: Mommy, I didn’t have any self control and I did something I wasn’t supposed to do.
Me: *deep breath* and what would that be?
E: I accidentally circled every toy in the Toys R Us catalog. *pauses, then continues sadly* it was like my hand couldn’t stop. Now it hurts.

Everything. My seven year old son wants everything. From Bratz dolls to Thomas the Train to dog heads that make gross sounds.

  661. TC says:

My girls, ages 3 & 6, both want Polar Bears. WTF???

  662. Anna says:

Loved this! My 5 and 4 year old went through the toy catalog and circled everything this year too. But other then everything on their wish lists are Legos for my oldest, dolls for my middle, and my youngest still could care less!

  663. Cas says:

Is it horrible that I haven’t let on to my kids to the fact that they can ask for presents? They get what we get them. Ha! Nobody tell them, mm’k?

  664. Cyn says:

My boys are 2 and 1, so they are too young to tell me what they want. I can’t wait until they start doing fun stuff like circling everything in the toy catalog! 🙂

  665. SarahS says:

My 3 year old wants her very own remote control car and a Sonicare toothbrush like mine. Easy and done. Also, a rocket ship to take our family and cats to space. Not so easy or done.

  666. Jennie B says:

love this. thankfully mine don’t know that wishlists exist, but as my oldest is in 2nd grade, i fear my days with no wishlists are numbered.

  667. Kate Mills says:

I have a 2 year old and a newborn, so this year we (the parents) still get to pick what we think they’ll want or what we like. Can’t wait to start getting some feedback from them. 🙂

  668. Elizabeth says:

My little one is still too young to choose for herself, but I’d have fun choosing for her! Great giveaway!

  669. Emma says:

I love this post! and I would love to be able to afford the enchanted cupboard! such wonderful toys!

  670. Sheena says:

My daughter is still too young to ask for anything, but she’d really love all the balls 🙂

  671. Lauren says:

I guess we’re the mean parents who don’t actually ASK what our sons want… we just surprise them! It’s only so long before they figure it out and start dropping hints though! I remember when I was finally old enough to play that little game!

  672. Jeeva says:

My kids are 3 and not asking for anything specific. But one got excited about the trees & Stars in the website

  673. Anna Ward says:

My five year old circled everything in the toy catalog as well, lol. The baby just wants something she can destroy.

  674. Am Vanatti says:

I actually don’t have any kids yet, but I love putting together unique gift boxes/bags when I go to my friends’ baby shower. I think I always have at least 3 friends pregnant at any given time, so it’s definitely cool to have some new gift ideas!

  675. Nia says:

The three your old wants a Lego set meant for 12 year olds! We may get it anyways to play with it ourselves 🙂
The baby is at the stage where she doesn’t know any better. But maybe I’ll ask my son what his sister wants. That should be an interesting conversation.

  676. Twila says:

My 5 yr old wants a unicorn…. Ya.
My 4 yr old asked Santa to surprise him… Free reign?
And my 2 yr old asked for cheese, popcorn, oh and his rc dump truck that’s on the shelf he can’t reach 🙂

  677. franca says:

my 3-year old daughter changes her mind all the time. but right now, she wants Santa to bring her a scooter. But she also wants a bike, and a blue toy kitchen, and a pink toy fridge. And really, who wouldn’t want all those things?

  678. Natalie Lannatewitz says:

I am local to the enchanted cupboard and she has the most amazing stuff!

  679. Lesley says:

My little one is still a bit too young to grasp the concept of a wishlist (16 months) but she loves books, so my husband and I have theorized that she would want some Baby Lit books (so cute! Usually counting primers that use literary classics like Pride & Prejudice and Wuthering Heights!) and a set of the princess “little people” from fisher price. She also “wants” some cars and I think my husband may have decided she also wants a children’s tool box and workbench. A little girl must be well rounded, after all!

  680. Kathleen P says:

He is 2 months old today and gave me free range to choose!! I think the rainbow stacker would be a huge hit eventually!

  681. Rhonda Toole says:

I just hope that the binder story is 100% real, because it’s one of the best things I’ve ever heard.

  682. Merissia says:

My kids LOVE blocks and to build things so that’s what they want

  683. ACsMama says:

My 4yo wants a “big-girl bike” and more ponies (hopefully the toy variety?) and ballet lessons, and a hairband.

  684. Rebecca says:

My little ones want a robot butler, which I cant understand why since they have a mommy butler.

  685. Charlotte says:

My boys mostly want books. Unless they mostly want candy. 😉

  686. Susanne says:

    EEEEKKKKK!!!
    So excited I won!!!!

  687. Simone says:

My 5 year old did the same thing this year – circled practically every item in a catalog.

My 7 year old has picked out a few items from that catalog, but can’t quite make up her mind which ones she wants the most.

  688. Amanda says:

Is the age 4 response a normal behavior for that age in general? Because my (nearly) 4 y/o does that ALL THE TIME. Seriously. “I want ____, I don’t want ____. Wait, I do want ____ after all.” It is maddening. JUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND, KID.
