Hi there. I’m supposed to have a new post today. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever missed posting on a Thursday.
But I’m having technical difficulties.
Yep. Technical difficulties.
I’m having technical difficulties with my time creating machine. It was just about to go into beta testing and then BAM it broke again.
Since I can’t rely on the extra time it was going to make for me, I don’t have a proper post today. Just this lame one.
I haven’t been sitting around drinking cocktails though. Not all the time.
In all honesty, I was nearly crushed under the page proofs that my editor sent me.
Paper is heavy.
(The “page proofs” are a complete printout of your entire book. The publisher sends them to you to edit and then you sit next to them and pretend they aren’t there because you are scared of them. Then you realize that the deadline to send them back is in two days so you are going to have to pay a million dollars to overnight them. Actually, only $69. So you stop being afraid of them and start being mad at them and then you sit down for twelve hours straight and get it done. And then you are a zombie because you haven’t slept in over 24 hours. And then you write posts like this one explaining this whole process because you really don’t want people to think you’ve just been drinking cocktails and slacking off. And then you want to drink a cocktail and slack off.)
I’ll be back next week. The time creating machine should be up and running by then.
No, my book isn’t out for many, many months yet. Next April in fact. Did you see what it looked like up there? It isn’t quite ready. It would be hard to sell a messy, 53 pound stack of papers. The shipping costs would be high. Once they shrink it down and glue it together and it actually looks like a book I’ll let you know though. Promise.
