Non-Crappy Giveaway – a SIGNED Copy of My Book!

To apologize for the fact that I have no actual post to share today, I’m giving away a copy of my book. And also to say thanks for all the support with the book launch. It has been amazing. Amazing.

Today I’m doing a “radio tour” which means I’ll sit in a room and talk to radio station after radio station. It starts at 4:50AM. I’ll be doing interviews with more than 20 different radio stations all over the country! In my pajamas.

(Oh & if you are here for the first time because you heard me on the radio I’m sorry that this post is so lame. Also, hi! Scroll down and read a different one. Really, any post other than this one. Try this one. Or maybe this one.)

So anyway, today I’m giving away a signed copy of Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures.ย Which is rare. None of the giveaway copies that have been going around have been signed. So this one is super fancy.

I’ll even draw you a picture in it. Write a personal message. Whatever you want.

(Okay, maybe not whatever you want. I won’t include a lock of my hair. I just can’t spare it. Plus, that is creepy. But messages & drawing requests are okay.)

I know a number of you have already bought the book (THANK YOU!!!) so you can pass it onto a friend if you win.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

You’ll actually be getting the copy I purchased at the bookstore on book release dayย so you’ll be the happy ending to the story! Book will ship from my house so anyone can enter.ย

  1. Jill says:

I entered! I was woken up this morning by a poke in my eye. I hope I win!

    • Jill says:

Oh crud, and my favorite crappy pictures story is the “mutated stronger version of the virus” where you all get sick! So funny because we just experienced the same thing two weeks ago.

    • Shauna says:

I have no idea what I’m doing but here goes?
It’s hard to choose just ONE fav but I think Ive narrowed it down to Gifts From Children.I LOVE the “kneeling like I am accepting a holy offering” pic!

    • Kathy Harrington Sullivan says:

My favorite blog post? That’s difficult, but I think I’d have to pick (so far) the “when we all got sick” post – hilarious (but wait, they’re ALL hilarious!)

    • Tripseeker says:

Yesterday was my “first time” with you guys, so I guess yesterday’s blog about getting ready for TV interviews is my fave. Can’t wait for more!

    • Chrizzle says:

      Enter me please. Thanks!

    • Jennie says:

Sorry, I’m replying to a random comment because it’s impossible to scroll to the end on an iPad. Does that still count?

The one about photos of people’s houses in magazines and how they’re really walking on cereal too still makes me feel better every single day. Thank you!

      • Amy's says:

Me too! I still remembering laughing so hard in my office that I had tears running down my face while reading the what it’s like not to sleep at night — starfish baby, the cat, not wanting to move for fear of waking. It was like reading my own life at the time.

  2. Cristy says:

My favorite is “Parenting: I Quit”

Best post on any blog ever.

  3. MissPinkKate says:

My favorite story is the whole buddy/butty debacle. We call our son buddy!

  4. Robin Jingjit says:

My two favorites are the one where you don’t sleep all night and the one with the non career server/hot French fries.

    • Jane says:

I don’t know how people can pick a favorite but the post about not sleeping is one of my faves.

      • Robin Shepherd says:

The (not) sleeping with children is the first I ever read and is still my absolute favourite (though love them all). I have shared it numerous times on facebook and still think of it every morning when I wake up.

  5. Em says:

It must be hiding in the bathroom. Why is that they can be playing quietly and as soon as I close the bathroom door (without making a sound) it’s like a call to bang on the door and yell at me.

  6. Carla Morais says:

The best ever is the monster car seat. I see it every time any of my 3 kids do the screaming. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Stephanie says:

It’s so hard to pick a favorite story. Maybe toddler diaper changes (as we currently have a toddler) or car seat hallucinations.

    • spiffmiff says:

yes!! the cloth diaper post really struck a chord in our house – my twins wear them too. it was the first post of yours i read, and i loved it! and keep coming back for more obviously ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Laurel Basciano says:

I love the one about cats pre and post children. So true!

  9. Jessie says:

I still love the text to/ from your husband as I do that most days! Simple but so true!

  10. Tara says:

My favorite Crappy story is the Well Child Visit story.

    • Karli says:

YES! Crappy Boy licking the chair is a story I tell often when referring people to this blog. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Stephanie says:

I will have to look that one up! I’m a crappy pictures newbie who really enjoyed the public toilet post you linked to in this post.

  11. Katie S. says:

    Hi, Amber,
I think my favorite story is the spider under your lounge chair, mostly because I can totally relate. I am not only afraid of them but I am highly allergic to their bites. Plus all those legs and eyes just creep me out.

I think the other one is more recent: The Quickie Window. It is a universal truth.

Thanks for all the smiles and laughs!

    • Ainslie says:

I’m with Katie. Quickie window all the way. It was like you’d flown half way round the world to spy on husband ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Karen says:

I still get a kick from your Target illustration. It really is the store where you find yourself walking out with a million things you didn’t think you needed!

  13. Renee says:

My favorite was the spanks story.

  14. It’s hard to pick just one, but my current favorite post is “The Old Man.” It makes me want to snuggle Crappy Baby (I swear I’m not a creep).

  15. Brenda says:

I just read yesterday, and I was tearing up I found it so funny. Hilarious!

  16. Jen says:

my favorite was the fisher price talking dog entry. i’ve actually forwarded this to many people–every time i meet someone who has it (which is everyone with a baby i think).

  17. I think it’s the toddler diaper changing one and cleaning with a toddler. Mostly your drawings in your posts.

  18. Megan says:

I was sick last weekend and went through most your archives ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorites include taking kids to a restaurant and Parenting I Quit and your youngest teaching a friend’s kid to climb the wall. Congrats on the book!

  19. Sarah says:

I would love to win this!

  20. Maria says:

I really liked the penis pizza one. I had a kind of similar story, except in Grad school and with a journal. Well it was similar in that a friend didn’t know how to pronounce the name of a journal and pronounced it penis. At a meeting with his supervisor. And he didn’t even know he got it wrong until we laughed at him. It really was funny..

  21. N.P. says:

I love the “Car Seat Hallucinations” post! Every little one I have ever had to put into a car seat has done this! My current little person was fine up until 6 months old, and at 7 months, now the car seat is the enemy. (Once she’s actually buckled, she’s fine, though.)

  22. Sarah says:

Oops. I didn’t post what my favorite story is. My favorite is about Target. That store controls me. I had to stop going there because that store alone was breaking my budget. I miss Target.

  23. Amy says:

In regards to the lock of hair… I once checked out a book from the library and someone had placed pieces of hair in between pages all the way through the book. Don’t do that. It was disgusting. I returned the book and didn’t come close to finishing reading it.

    • amber says:

That is just…weird! The important question is, what book was it?

    • plink says:

Ugh! Thats awful! Are you sure it was human hair? I get that a lot with cat hair, which is also gross although not quite as gross as cutting your own hair into a book.

  24. Andee says:

I’d say one of my fav posts was about potty training girls, but since you made a link to it I feel like I am cheating. I loved your post about how your house changed an the netting on the wrought iron railings. That post was fantastic, or when you had Mono and the kids had a cereal party. Oh I just love all your posts.

  25. Meredith says:

Oh, they’re all so good (and creepy. You really don’t peep through my windows & chronicle my life with kids, do you?), but my husband & I were in tears laughing over the quickie window post a week or two ago.

  26. Brad says:

It’s like you have a window into my crappy house.

  27. Lisa abejja says:

I LOVE gifts from children !! I’ve been handed my fair share of interesting gifts from my lot!!

  28. Erica Cob says:

Love your blog – am sure I will love your crappy book even more ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. Kim Q says:

A favorite? Good grief, how to narrow it down??? Whichever new one is posted? Okay, I’m going to go with “It will not be a bad feel.” That one just tickles me something fierce and ferocious. Wait, that doesn’t sound very tickly does it?

  30. Heather Davidson says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I LOVE your posts! After my typical crappy morning, I read “I Quit” & literally cried tears of joy. It’s like you’re right here, in my house! You rock!

  31. CE Harris says:

Woo hoo. I would love to win!

  32. Daria says:

I can’t pick a favorite! I love all of your stories. So I’ll share a cute story about my boy. The other day, he introduced us to a man doing carpentry inside our house (whom I already knew, of course): “I’m Phil, and this is my friend Mommy.”

  33. Ruth says:

My current fave is the post about toddler diaper changes because my kid is turning into an octopus.

  34. Cara says:

My favorite is the one where you are watching your friend’s kids and you say, “I found myself doing this” and then the picture of you lying down with a glass of wine. LOVE IT!

Runner up would be your post about cloth diapers where the diaper sprayer pressure was on too high. That is the one that brought me here in the first place! And then the “My Precious” sharpie marker. Or the mutated virus one or the restaurant one — pretty much any of them that I can relate to. Which is all of them.

Congratulations on the book — I can’t wait to read it!

  35. Alison says:

I would love to win a physical copy, since I always buy kindle things these days (mostly because I’m impatient and never get to a real store).

My favorite is hard to pick, but I love the Pet Annoyance one, it’s spot on and made me laugh so hard.

  36. Dee says:

I love the one where you took the kids to a party, and one of them (or both!) decided to wee all over the place. Hilarious and so true!!!

Congrats on the book launch, and radio interview. All the best! ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. Kris says:

LOVE reading your stories! You’re hilarious and the pictures make it that much better!!

  38. Aliya says:

If I win this I’m passing it to one of my favorite mommy-friends since I already bought a copy. ๐Ÿ™‚

I would LOVe to read your new book ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks !

  41. Alicia says:

I love your site, hopefully will be able to get your book one day soon.

  42. Kara says:

I would love a signed copy. If I got to pick, I would love a picture of my kids, drawn Crappy Style ™.

  43. Michelle dunajcik says:

As usual even funny when not trying! I work in my Jammie’s too. Taking care of the house and kids while running a home business is hard work, be comfortable! I can’t narrow your posts down to one! Anything about potty training, kids fighting with each other and general stubbornness is the story I live and u write. That’s why u r a daily read here, down to earth reality and darn funny. Thank u so much!!!!

  44. Rebecca says:

I love your blog! My husband and I are first time parents with a 4 month old. I can tell we’re in for a wild ride!

  45. Jana G. says:

Would LOVE to win this. My six year old routinely requests Crappy Pictures as bedtime reading. He’s very excited for me to get the book for my birthday (which is soon, so I should win, right?).

  46. Carol says:

I would LOVE to win a copy; it would probably get to me before my pre-order does. (Massive issue with Chapters being out-of-stock on pre-orders. I have one coming but it’s taking FOREVER!)

And my favorite blog is toddler diaper changes. <3

  47. Michelle says:

My favourite is ‘Learning to Love Books’. We are at the pretension stage… ๐Ÿ™‚

  48. Suzanne Fraser says:

I entered! As a university student it’s hard to get enough money for extra books but I love your website. I don’t have kids but I work with preschoolers!

  49. Emily Ray says:

My favorite entry is about the talking toy dog in the car. “It’s learnin’ time!!!!” Every time my daughter plays with that toy I crack up.

  50. AmyH says:

My favorite post is probably “GOING VIRAL, THE PUKING KINDโ€ฆILLUSTRATED WITH CRAPPY PICTURESโ„ข,” although admittedly there really are too many hilarious posts to pick just one.

  51. Amaury says:

My fav.story in the book so far is in the long drive, all of you peeing on the side of the road under the stars!

  52. Liz says:

^ who are some of those people that haven’t yet bought your book? That is crazytalk, people! Don’t just leech off this blog for free, support it and buy the book, it is awesome!

I bought 3 copies (one for me and to for gifts) but would love a signed copy.

My favorite story from the book is the road trip one!

  53. Ellen says:

I can’t pick a favorite! You can’t make me! Or can you? Hmmm…I am not sure about that! Ok, ok, maybe the one about the car seat as my 2 year old currently screams and tells me he doesn’t need ”
those things” anymore. (meaning the straps for the car seat). Ahhh, the joys of toddlerdom! ๐Ÿ™‚

  54. Ashley says:

  58. Christy says:

The pet post is so spot on – I laughed and laughed!

  59. amy e says:

Love you blog! My fav post is gifts from children… even moreso after catching a whole handful of my daughters puke!!

  60. Erin says:

I feel like you might have hidden cameras in my house as inspiration for your posts. LOVE THEM!

  61. Liz McCracken says:

My fav blog post is the one where you show off your positive discipline, but then you show what you’re thinking. Hilarious!

  62. Patricia Oliveira says:

Favorite post, by far, hands down, no hesitation: Spanx
    Made me wet. My. Pants.

  63. julie says:

long time lurker, first time poster! love this blog!!

My favorite post (it’s the first one I read and it made me a follower) is “THE PHENOMENON OF PARENTING AND PET ANNOYANCE, ILLUSTRATED WITH CRAPPY PICTURESโ„ข” It was exactly what I needed to read at the time! Love your blog!

  68. Mel G says:

Ooh how exciting! My favourites would be the New Year’s Eve post, or any of your bathroom posts….coz they’re so true!

  69. Melissa K says:

So much of your blog is true for all of us moms… that’s why we all laugh, relate, and want to own your book! I have to say, my favorite story, and the one that got me hooked on your blog was the one about Elephant Poop. I laughed until I cried!

  70. Jessica says:

One of my favorites is the parenting and pet annoyances post. It’s so true! I have three cats and three kids, and the two oldest girls were taught early how to pick up kitty with a nice bearhug.

  71. Amber says:

I’m not sure I can pick a favorite, but the story in the book where Crappy Papa pees into the diaper made me cry it was so funny. Would love to have a signed copy!

  72. Meg says:

How am I supposed to pick a favorite story? UNFAIR. I love them all. But I guess, I especially enjoy the before and after kids posts ๐Ÿ™‚

  73. Melissa says:

Pick me, pick me! I have no favorite post, they’re all damn hilarious.

  77. Alex says:

A favorite is the one about being young and visiting people with kids, and being way more interested in their cats. We just had that experience with some youngins who had dinner at our place, our maybe our cats really are that awesome….

  78. Tricia says:

I like the story about public bathrooms.

  79. Jamie says:

I’ve been a follower ever since What It’s Like to (Not) Sleep at Night

    • Jamie says:

Oops- my son sent that before I was finished… The joys of computer time while he’s awake! Not sleeping is still one of my favs! Oh so true…

  80. Lizz says:

My favorite is the co-sleeping illustration – what it’s like to (not) sleep. That is the story that got me hooked on your site! Baby turns into starfish! I cried from relief because it was so soo similar to my nightly adventure. I would love to win this book! I’ll buy it anyway – and have already for a friend, but I’d still love a signed copy!!

    • Sara Golden says:

Co-sleeping is my favorite post! Just this morning, about 3 am my 10 month old rabbit kicked his daddy in the family jewels. I’m searching for the post to show my husband:) that or cloth diapering. We had two in cloth until we recently potty trained our older boy. And it’s spot on!

      • Shelley says:

I also love the Co-Sleeping (nursing, kids, cats, husband giving the Zzzzzzzzz) was the first one I read and with the last of my zombie-mum energy, I laughed so hard! The next one I read was The Real House Tour. I’m thrilled for your success, long may it continue ๐Ÿ™‚

  81. Charlie says:

My absolute favourites are your posts about cloth diapers. I use cloth on my 9 months old son and they’re awesome. In front of my husband I can talk for hours about how much better they are for the environment and blah blah blah, but ask me privately and it’s all about the colours and patterns! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  82. AngieG says:

My favorite is the one where you all get sick but your husband has the “mutant” flu….so funny, totally my husband!

  83. M. Bridges says:

As a new mom, I can’t get enough of crappy pictures. It makes me feel slightly normal with my own little guy. haha!

  84. Kelsey says:

I just finished reading the book, and the story that made me laugh the hardest was the car trip. Specifically the part where Crappy Papa is peeing in the diaper. I totally lost it from that point forward, while my husband gave me puzzled looks. But then I made him read the story and I could hear him laughing all the way across the house. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  85. Eva says:

I think my favorites were the “while mama was in the bathroom” series.

  86. Cat says:

My favorite Crappy Picture – when you’re co-sleeping and Crappy Baby turns into a starfish on the bed. Hilarious!!

  87. Sarah says:

The Spanx story. Cracked. Me. Up. I can SO see myself in the same situation. Extreme panic sets in as soon as I figure out I’m trapped in clothes.

  88. Eva says:

By the way, I think it is sooooooo fitting that you are giving away the book you bought the day it came out!! Love it.

  89. Trisha_K says:

I have always loved the Shopping at Target post – I never leave with just the few items on my list! A more recent favorite was the “pizza” incident!

  90. Lorah Ford says:

I would love to win this! I already have the book but I can give it to one of my many friends who are new mommies!!

my favorite story will always be the Penis Pizza story. My friend and i re-visit that post often…we always end up crying tears.

  93. Karin says:

One favorite story? One? That’s killing me! Off the top of my head, I loved the one about Crappy Boy being a good teacher because I see the same thing with my boys. And the “Butty” one was pretty funny too.

  94. Kelsae says:

I think your recent post about trying to take a shower is my new favorite. So funny, so true.

  95. Mary says:

Well, “quickie window” has become a common phrase around our house now, so I’ll have to say that is my current favorite. Although I’m sure there are other great ones I’m not remembering right now.

  96. Mary Pierce says:

My favorite post right now is the one where you all get sick. The main reason, is that I just went through this over Easter. My 6 month old got sick, then I got the stomach flu, then my husband, and then my in-laws. So that meant that I had to still deal with a sick baby while puking myself. Not fun! Really felt like I got completely broken into motherhood.

  97. Katie says:

My favorite story is about shopping at Target. At least, I think so. I’d look for more but my almost-4-year-old is dancing on my lap because his brother and sister won’t do what he wants them to do.

  98. Karah says:

    this is aweosme!

  99. It’s hard to pick just one, but I enjoyed “WHAT IT IS LIKE TO (NOT) SLEEP AT NIGHT”, because although I don’t have two kids, I found it really hard when I was breastfeeding my daughter to get a good nights rest because I was feeding on demand, and often fell asleep with her nuzzled in close. I was SO afraid to move and wake her back up. Most nights I didn’t even try to move her to her bassinet because I was already too tired.

  100. Krista says:

The spider ones because I do the exact same thing. Also posts about taking multiple toddlers to restaurants or stores!

  101. Teressa says:

I first saw your book in the comic section of the Barnes & Noble in Philadelphia. It must have been that bright red cover which attracted my attention. I picked it up and started reading it and couldn’t put it down. I was about to buy it when my boyfriend said we were going to be late and had to go. So I made a mental note to check out your website when I got home. The next day I read ALL of your posts on in one sitting. I couldn’t believe I did that. It took the entire day. I have placed an order for the book so I will read it as soon as I get it. I really enjoy reading your posts and have recommended it to friends and family. There are many posts that I really like; the one that comes to mind right now is when Crappy Boy states that he wants to marry Abigail. Those who have not read it can read it here

  102. Kim G says:

My favorite story was probably the one about the sleeping dad while the wife is sick and up all night with the kids. I have been there way too often!

  103. Anne-Marie says:

Two words (that will probably get me marked as spam): penis pizza.

  104. Ann says:

My favourite post is the one about co sleeping and the starfish baby! That post sold me on your blog!

  105. Shannon says:

My sister told me about your blog about a year ago. Now that she is pregnant with her first, I had to buy your book as a baby shower gift for her. I started reading it and now want to keep it for myself…..decisions, decisions. ๐Ÿ™‚

  106. Chaya says:

Favorite story is going to the doctor!

  107. Michelle says:

One of my favorites is about sleeping with kids. Why must they be everywhere in the bed?

  108. Laura says:

    This one’s probably my favorite:

I like the other one about sleeping, too – when you and your husband traded off for an hour and he got to sleep but you got like 5 minutes of sleep. SO TRUE.

  109. Shelli says:

My favorite is the one about the public toilet, girls vs. boys. It was the very first one that I read and has kept me coming back!

  110. Audrey says:

Oh! It’s so hard to choose one favorite! And my favorites changes as my son grows! My favorites used to be those about diaper changing and cloth diapers. Now I’ve “grown” into the potty training and public toilet ones! And most recently… the night-time (lack of) sleeping!

  111. Miranda says:

My favorite “crappy” story is when you listen for hours and hours to your son telling you a pirate story. I love it because my son wants my attention all day, too, though not because he’s telling me a story ๐Ÿ˜€ I can tell how much you love your kids, even as they are frustrating and exasperating!

  112. Sarah B says:

Ironically enough, my FOUR year old loves your book. Good thing he can’t read the words, haha. His favorite part is when the baby is taking up half the bed by stretching out like a star, he laughs and laughs.

  113. becca says:

while I have a soft spot for the one where you all get sick, I think my very favorite it car seat hallucinations because that’s exactly how my kids are.

  114. Heather says:

Taking the kids to the park! It is fresh in my mind and SO perfectly written. It could easily be turned into a made-for-TV-movie.

  115. Devon says:

My favourite has to be “A Real House Tour”

  116. Allison says:

    Farkles the Unicorn! It’s unforgettable!

  117. One of the first posts I ever read was the one where Crappy Baby and Crappy Boy play on the dirt pile, and I thought it was so funny I had to subscribe immediately. ๐Ÿ™‚

  118. Glenna says:

My favorite is the one about the Fisher Price Laugh and Play Puppy. I cried laughing so hard! ๐Ÿ™‚

  119. Emily says:

Favorite story? That’s too hard! The one I can most relate to at the time. The one that makes my husband laugh the hardest. The one about poop. ALL!

  120. Sam says:

Have the signed book plated been mailed out yet?

  121. Elaine says:

I dont need it. But they need me to have it.

  451. Eli H says:

I like the “Coffee and Wine” post.

  452. sex after children…”theres no window daddy AHAHAHA”

  453. My favorite story is the What I Want to Say vs What I Really Say. My husband and I were laughing SO hard at that post. Especially “I don’t like you either you little s***!” DYING.

  454. Kira says:

My favorite is the cosleeping starfish and the recent one about what you want to say to your kids but what you actually say to them. Since I’m the mama of 2 boys, your posts are always relevant to my life. Pretty much like if you were in my head.

  455. Jeni says:

I love everything you do but my favorite was the phone importance of call chart. Hands down the most truthful chart in the history of the world. I nearly changed my profile picture to it.

  456. Melonie says:

My favorite story is the one you are super hero mom still taking care of the kids while your sick, but your husband is on his death bed with the same thing. My husband acts more like a needy baby when he is sick than my son. Yup, you’re dying….

  457. Jennifer says:

By far, my favorite is penis pizza. I laughed so loud I woke up the baby

  458. Jessy says:

Just one? That’s really hard… They all make me laugh. My favorite right this moment is the one about how they do something really bad or annoying, then they keep turning on the charm until you have no choice but to smile. That is so my children right now.

  459. Victoria says:

my fav is all of them, haha but right now I can relate to the public toilette one

  460. Sandra H says:

Right now I am loving the What does Blank say? So funny “gnnnn” too true!!

  461. Jessica says:

I love love love your Public Toilet post! Too funny and so true!

  462. Jessica says:

I just started my parenting journey, your book is a good pick me up for all of the things I get to experience soon in the future!

  463. Joule-E says:

Oh, how my little “library” (if I can call it that with child-torn dust jackets and volumes of books I haven’t had time to read due to child-rearing devotion) would be so much more awesome if I had an autographed copy of your book (which I already bought but am greedy…errr… so generous that I would be willing to pass along my first copy to a friend).
I think my favorite post you have done was the “Things I did as a kid, but my kids won’t EVER” post. Although, the one about the park which was designed to make you give up your first child has been quoted many-a-time with wine in my hand. Oh, yes, the wine and coffee… definately the wine and coffee post … it is my favorite too! LOVE your humor… it keeps me (in)sane ๐Ÿ˜‰

  464. Mandy says:

I hope you got hair and make-up anyway because who doesn’t want someone else to do their hair and make-up!

  465. Katie says:

My favorite blog was the one about you trying to sleep at night and getting woken up by your kids all night long. Totally relate to that post!

  466. Kaylene says:

Public Toilets is my favorite, if I have to pick. It was one of the first ones I’ve seen and it made me srsly LOL.

  467. Amy says:

There are too many good ones to pick just one. Just love this blog.

  468. Nicole says:

    The public toilet seats!

  469. Stacey says:

My favourite blog post is the one about how your husband is a deep sleeper, but you are the opposite and get no sleep. That is exactly my situation. Love all your posts!

  470. Jackie says:

I LOVED the Crappy Dog post. Not only did you rescue an animal, but you rescued one that was unlikely to be adopted and you taught your kids a valuable lesson as a bonus. ๐Ÿ™‚

  471. Alicia says:

It’s really hard to pick one….I like some of the older posts a lot! I like the one where everyone got sick, and the one about not sleeping at night, and the one with toddler car seat hallucinations, and the real house tour…..and so on. ๐Ÿ™‚

  472. Bridget says:

I have never read a post that didn’t make me laugh, but to choose a favorite I will have to say that the How (not) to sleep would be it.

  473. Cyndi says:

I loved your blog about your kids answering the door for the pizza delivery man! Hilarious! (But so are all of your posts!)

  474. Lj says:

Fav post is either your sleeping post or your sick post. Love.
    I entered!

  475. Traci says:

My favorite is What is like to (not) Sleep at Night. The phrase, “the baby turned into a starfish,” always kills me!! You capture real life perfectly!

  476. Ashley Garrett says:

My favorite entry from the blog is the one about potty training. That, or diaper changing. Or quickie windows. Or Target. Or or or. Okay, I love them all.

  477. Amanda says:

Entering! My favorite story of yours is when you all went to the circus ๐Ÿ™‚ But it is so hard to choose just one favorite!

My favorite crappy post (there are so many) is about the dogs.

    • Danielle says:

Oh! And one of my favorites is the When we all got sick! That is exactly how it goes down here except add a ton more kids!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  481. Sharon N. says:

Favorite Crappy Picture is the Target one! So true!

  482. Carol N says:

love, love, LOVE the one titled “the quickie window.”
    Note to self:
donโ€™t read hysterical crappy picture posts during the middle of a boring conference call with clients. ๐Ÿ™‚

  483. JoAnne says:

OMG… I love them all (have yet to find one I didn’t like), but if I had to choose a favorite right this moment…? Penis Pizza… all my co-workers must think I’m crazy from all the stifled giggling re-reading that one, LOL

  484. Tiffany says:

The poop story ending on page 95 of the book kills me!

  485. Stacy says:

the day I read about quitting was right around the same time I said that to my hubby. I also love the sorry about buddy/butty mix up. I call my son buddy too but the only mix up I get is when I say buddy watch where you’re going… get nasty looks from strangers

  486. Catherine Steffen says:

With my son’s first birthday coming up next month (I say this, but I don’t believe it!), I read the birthday cake post to my husband. Because this is probably how it is going to go down in our household. Of course I am going to bake my baby a from scratch organic cake!

  487. Shelby says:

I’ve only recently found you on Facebook. But so far my fav is the “windows of opportunity”

  488. Armelle says:

I really can’t pick a favorite… but I remember one of the first I read, about the various sleep positions of the baby and cat (and husband) when you were trying to sleep at night. After that I was hooked and continued to follow your blog!

  492. Amber says:

  493. Lacey says:

Oh man. My favorite story? I can’t pick just one. I think I’m tied between the Target hypnosis and the mutated version of the virus. I regularly pimp those stories, lol. Love your blog, Amber. Love it.

  494. Emily says:

One of my favorites is the story about everyone throwing up at the same time (except for Crappy Papa, who gets sick later). The nursing in bed, the banging on the door… it’s all too familiar. I love reading your stories!

  495. Jolleen says:

By far the BEST blog ever!!! I a LOT of blogs and this one, ALWAYS cracks me up and makes me remember when my crappy children were this age…I just hope you keep this blog up as they grow. I want to see the crappy teenager years!!!!!

  497. Janell says:

I love the pre children, post children cat. And the one about quickies.

  499. Karri Sonke says:

Love this blog….can’t wait to read your book!

  500. Anne says:

Either the pizza delivery or the I quit post. Is it bad that the quitting post resonated even though our kiddo’s still an infant?

  501. Traci says:

Hi! My favorite blog post so far has been parenting, I quit! I have six children including one month old twins. I think about quitting here and there, lol. Also today is my birthday so I think you should pick me to win. ; )

The recent post about sex made me laugh til I cried! Its my current favourite x

  504. Stefanie says:

My favorites are the Target and Quickie Window stories. Both are just so perfectly my life!

  505. Sandra says:

I love your cleaning with toddlers post. We are trying to teach our boy that he needs to clean up before bed, but it is so frustrating. He will clean up one toy and then take two out to play with them. And in the morning, the first thing he likes to do is to dump the boxes back out on the floor.

  506. Kelly B says:

    Fingers crossed!!

  507. Kristin says:

Hypnotic Target Eye is my absolute fave!!! Close second to the “bathroom series”, and carseats are monsters! Love your blog!

  508. Amber says:

My all time favorite posts are the crappy laws of parenting, because they are all true!

  509. Leesa says:

My fave is definitely Parenting: I quit. I totally empathize!

  510. Kaitlin M says:

I love anything dealing with the potty — I HATE potty training, so it makes me feel better that others are going through the same s*#t! ๐Ÿ™‚

  512. Amanda says:

My favorite crappy blog post is the public toilet one! But I also love any post wherein the crappy cats make an appearance!

  513. Kel says:

Fav would have to be Gifts from children. All though it is very hard to just pick one.

  514. Debbie says:

    I’d like a book!

  515. Steven Tucker says:

Woohoo! I’ve already bought the book for my wife, but I was thinking about getting one for my pregnant sister as well.

  516. Joy Luck says:

  517. Heather says:

I love the post about how dad is dying when he’s sick but mom has to be super mom.

  518. Caroline Webster says:

My favourite story is the one with the car seat hallucinations because my youngest son used to do the exact same thing only I never pictured the terrifying monster he could so clearly see with every impending car journey!

  527. Jess - a crappy mom says:

It’s hard to pick a favorite because they all make me laugh my ass off, but if I had to, I would pick the diaper changing story. I immediately thought of my daughter!

  528. Talena Krull says:

I would love to win this! Thanks!!

  529. Dianne says:

I seriously loved the Parenting – I Quit post. Who hasn’t wanted to say those things to their kids?! And if there’s anyone who hasn’t, wanna trade?

I’m also partial to the Birthday Pie bc it reminds me of my daughter, her dislike of cake, all of the fancy cakes she’s had over the years (not made by me), and the painful birthday sugar cookies she begged me to make bc she hates cake that took me hours of blood, sweat, and tears for her 5th birthday ๐Ÿ™‚ And of course this year she wanted cupcakes – funfetti ftw!

It’s hard to pick though, like trying to pick your favorite child!

  530. Meaghan says:

I look forward to your new posts every day, and I’d love a SIGNED copy of your book! You are hilarious! Too many faves to choose really, but I did love the penis pizza post!

  533. Marisa says:

    Crappy Dog! ๐Ÿ™‚

  534. Carolena Blackburn says:

I already have the book and yes, most of it was read on the toilet. I even ended up with “ring around the ass” because I couldn’t put it down.

My favorite blog would have to be the story of “rooms” before kids and after kids..where everything is in it’s place before kids and way up high on the shelves after kids. I was crying from laughing so hard at this one because my house looks like this!! Two boys (3.75 and 2) and a girl on the way!!

I plan on passing the laughter around if I win!! Thanks so much for giving me a break during the day!!

  537. Trista says:

What can I write that hasnt been written already!? You are truly amazing, and amazingly hilarious!
My favorite blog by far has got to be the Quickie. Because thats our life. When we think we’ve found that window, soon follows the pitter patter of little baby and kid feet. I think we need our hiding place! That was the first story I ever read, and Ive been quite obsessed since!

  538. Eva says:

This book is now my new Baby Shower Must Present. I’m working through the blog but need to do some real work once in a while. Love your work!

My favorite is whichever one shows up on my newsfeed each day! I laugh every time. Although, the birthday party post was really good ๐Ÿ™‚

  542. heather says:

I haven’t read a blog post that didn’t leave me in tears!! I love them all!

  543. Elena says:

My favorite (I mean not really, there is more than one favorite, but this is one of my favorites) is the Our Crappiest Trip – hahahaha. I’m still laughing. I mean sorry you had to change so many diapers and pee under the stars while a car was driving by, but still.

  544. Margaret says:

I think my favorite story is the one about the ice cream, where Crappy Boy says he’s going to ask Crappy Papa because, “he’s a little bit smarter than you.” I laughed for a long time because my reaction would also to be to eat all the remaining ice cream so he couldn’t have any.

  545. Jill says:

My favorite is a tie between the penis pizza and cloth diapers!!

  546. Erica says:

I love your blog, and I plan to buy your book if I don’t win the signed copy. ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog, and I’m hoping to win a copy of the book! ๐Ÿ˜€

  548. Sarah says:

My favourite is the kids in restaurants story. It was one of the first I read and it was so resonant with me I forwarded your blog to everyone I thought could relate.

  549. Mimi says:

It’s a window. It’s not a window. My husband and I both now talk about windows in a whole new way!

  550. kim says:

I love every post because honestly I feel like Its my life youre living. well except for the fact that I live on the opposite coast of the country and I have 3 kids and im not a published author. =)

  551. Christina says:

My new favorite is How A Mom Showers. I’m not a mom, but it never fails that the second I undress and step into the shower, someone has to pee or wash their hands or want to know if we have any milk, etc etc. And by somebody, I mean my boyfriend. >_>

  552. Marta says:

    Hi from Spain
I love your blog. It is currently my homepage. My favorite post is the one about not sleeping with a baby : )

  553. RS says:

I loved the Jedi parking guy story, but the one that made me stick with you for so long was the “what it is like to (not) sleep at night “.
By the way, I’m not sure that you are aware of the fact that you are not only followed by US, Australia, UK and other English speaking countries. I’m from Romania (Eastern Europe) if you wondered where that was, and I’m sure that the crappy blog is also followed by other continents too.. Congrats on making our lives better with your blog!

    • amber says:

I’ve been to Romania! Was in Iaศ™i & Bucharest. It was a great trip. The best tomato I’ve ever tasted in my entire life was in Bucharest.

      • RS says:

I’m from IaลŸi! You can come back with the whole crappy family to promote the book! Meanwhile, I’ll prepare some tomatoes for you.. (I can’t believe you just answered my comment. It’s like taking to George Clooney, only cooler – ’cause George has no idea what breastfeeding is)

  554. Jen says:

Favorite post is tough, but the one about the Fisher Price dog is near the top. I just spent the last hour listening (via baby monitor) to my 20 month old talk to his doggy friend. SO BIG!

  555. Megan says:

My favorite was the one where Crappy Boy discussed how we shouldn’t eat animals. Except bacon. It’s always the bacon. It was the first post I ever read and I was hooked!

  556. Courtney says:

My favorite post is about public toilets for sure! During the fall and winter, the only public toilets I have to worry about are at the grocery store or the like. With spring here and summer around the corner, it’s almost time for the dreaded port-o-potty….guhhh

  557. Jen says:

I would love to win a personalized copy. That way I won’t have to go to Target to buy it…you know what happens at Target!

  558. Carolina says:

My favorite is shopping at Target because Target has the exact same effect on me!

  559. Meghan says:

I was initiated into Crappy Parenting with How not to sleep at night, and it is still one of my favorites. Then the car seat monster hooked me, and now I don’t think I’ll ever leave. Crappy Baby and my boy must be about the same age, because they all seem so relevant and timely–especially cleaning with toddlers in the room, cloth diaper changes, and the fisher price possessed little puppy.

  560. Kimberly Cooperrider says:

Love, love, love, LOVE your blog!!! My favorite has got to be “Car Seat Hallucinations” That post had me ROLLING LAUGHING!!!!

I honestly cant decide which is my fave. But I like carseat hallucinations and the public toilets.

  563. Joy H says:

Hard to pick a favorite. I still laugh to tears whenever I read Taking the Kids to the Park. And I’m not just saying that because the image is conveniently available on the sidebar. Really.

  564. lisa says:

Hi! Love your blog would love a signed copy of your book even more!

  565. Bethany says:

I love so many but the pizza/penis one always cracks me up. I also love the Legos “this us why I became a dad” one because that’s so like my hubby ๐Ÿ™‚

  566. Jennifer Moore says:

They are all pretty freakin’ funny! But I think the one with taking kids to the park is the winner for me. The park is (to put it nicely) a bad layout….large walls hiding portions of other play areas and the water! WHY!
    Congrats to you!

  567. Kristy D. says:

Love your blog! My favorite is still the one about how mothers (don’t) sleep with interruptions from the kids and animals ๐Ÿ˜‰

Reading your blog is my and my husband’s dirty little secret. (Just kidding … Or am I?)

  570. Amber says:

My favorite is the one about trying to take a shower!! It’s true… I don’t think i’ve ever taken a shower in private since having kids. lol.

If I win I’m totally keeping it for myself and giving my bought copy to a friend. I want to make you draw me! ๐Ÿ˜›

My favorite post is cloth diapering a toddler. I am cloth diapering twins and they’re just starting to roll away….

  573. Kelly P says:

My favorite posts are a tie. First is ‘coffee and wine’ because that’s pretty much how I get through my day. Second is the story of you adopting CrappyPuppy. I’ve just been dealing with the same “you have kids? You can’t have a rescue dog!” in my own life. Thanks for all the laughs!

  574. Sara says:

It’s so hard to pick a favorite, but I think I’d have to say the one that introduced me to your blog – What it’s like to (not) sleep at night. SO FUNNY and it was totally where I was in my life when I read it!

  575. Erica Reed says:

I woke up this morning with cramps… which means I’m probably in labor. If I’m not, I have to wait until Monday to have this baby via c-section. Regardless, I’m not looking forward going through the delivery again, so to help ease the pain, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I win the book. It would make it all worth it. (Right?) ๐Ÿ™‚

  576. Michelle thomas says:

I loves the one where the kids fight over one having something that the other wants just because he has it. ( no matter what it is) my kids do this all the time ๐Ÿ™‚ just the other day it was over a Lego surfboard that I didn’t even know we had!!! (I ended up taking it and hiding it, but hid it to we’ll and can’t remember where) d

  577. Jenn says:

One of your first blog posts I read was the playground story. I was a new mama at the time and had no idea playgrounds were not all created equal. Not only was your story hysterical, it taught me to check out parks before taking my kiddos there. Good to know that sharing your stressful day could help other mamas, right?

  578. Jessica says:

So hard to decide…. I think my favorite post has to be the Maximum Cuteness/tiny manipulators one…. I forever picture myself having the “loving mama zombie” heart eyes when my toddler does something he’s not supposed to, adorably

  579. Shannon says:

i <3 you and want to be your friend! so glad your book is out

  580. Jenifer says:

My favorite post so far is the cloth diapers one. No one understands a cloth diapering mama like another one! Everyone else thinks we’re nuts.

  581. Gail says:

My favorite was the first one I read. It had to do with mother’s day I believe, you wanting to poop alone? I read it around mother’s day and I hadn’t been in the bathroom by myself in 9+ months.

  582. Shana says:

Just reread the trip to the doctor post. Love that one!

  583. 2Renees says:

My favorite thus far has been Gifts from My Children, so funny and true.

  584. Suzanne Pang says:

I absolutely love your blog! My favorite blog is “What it’s like to (not) sleep at night”.

All of them! If I had to pick I’d say the cloth diaper one because it is how I found your blog and is just too true.

  586. Christina says:

I love them all, but I always think of the one about changing Crappy Baby while Crappy Boy is trying to talk to you. Love that one!

  589. Ginger Deel says:

My favorite crappy story is when you took the boys to the car show!

  590. Alicia Owen says:

Cloth Diapers, most definitely, with the water laser. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was laughing for like 5 minutes over that!

  591. Bethany says:

I think my favorite story is Shopping at Target. Except, well, I love them all!

  592. Sabrina says:

Oh My Goodness, I Have To Pick Just One Favorite? Target, Farkles, Going To The Bathroom Alone, BeingThe Patent Who Brings The Sick Kid To A Birthday, Not Sleeping, Reacting To The News That someone Is Pregnant….I Could Go On!

  593. Jenny says:

I love the one where you have just finished your book, are working and hear the kids planning you a party, and it turns out to be a party for the dog’s imaginary birthday. It makes me laugh every time I think of it.

  594. Amanda says:

Love your blog. It’s hilarious, heartwarming, and somehow makes me feel more prepared for life with my own kiddo.

  595. Meckenzie says:

I have too many favorites! But most recently, “celebrating book day”. Lol, the dog’s birthday? And the silence of the boys at the end?? Ha! That’s how it works… Children.

  596. Kelly says:

I can’t think of a favorite. They all make me laugh so hard I cry!

  597. Dawn says:

One favorite post? That’s too hard! One of my favorites is where you’re talking about putting a toddler in the car seat and they must think the car seat is a demon…so true! My son definitely went though that faze. Oh, and the one where everyone gets sick and Crappy Papa says he must have a mutated version. Hilarious! That’s soooo my husband!

  598. Jlynn says:

I know it was a guest post but I loved the pee pee stuck in the zipper one. Your crappy drawings sold it
The “I quit” is also a favorite.

    Exciting! I want to win but if I don’t, I’ll buy a copy. ๐Ÿ˜€

  607. Melissa says:

There can be no favorite! Each and every day when I read your blog I end up calling my daughter, who is now preggers with her 4th crappy fetus, and scream “You HAVE to read the Crappy Blog today, IT IS YOU!” I find it amazing that you can see right into her house and don’t mind sharing her life with the world.
Alright, so I know it’s not really her life, it’s yours, but thank you so much for making me laugh! I am sorry that I find my pleasure at your expense, but hey somebody has to do it!

  608. James Ward says:

LOL. I entered. I love the poopy vacation!

So hard to pick one as you have so many hilarious posts. I remember the before and after decorating one as being sadly true and funnily true. ๐Ÿ™‚

  614. Kari says:

  615. Natalie P. says:

My favorites are diapering a toddler, car seat hallucinations (the monster seat totally cracks me up), and the one where you took the kids to new new park.

  616. Lauren says:

I have to say one of my more favorite posts of yours was the one where you try to catch the vomit, I have done that as well.

  617. The need for uppers and downers….your bathroom smelling like a porta potty at a concert….the circus….so many to relate to.

  618. Erica Reed says:

Sorry, jumped the gun and left the comment without telling you my favorite post. Mine is one of your first ones with the cats and not sleeping: “What it is like to (not) sleep at night”. Cracks me up every time. I also love the one where you’re changing crappy baby and crappy boy is trying to show you the booger on his finger. ๐Ÿ™‚

  619. I would love to win this for my wife. She told me about this site, and I have to admit, I would LOVE to read this book entirely. I guess if I don’t win, I’m just going to have to get a copy anyway.

  624. Angela H. says:

But honestly, I am kind of in love with all of them…

  625. Lauren says:

I can’t pick a favorite because they all are so true, but I will say I’ve referenced the recent, “Someone is coming everyone put on pants!” short multiple times since you posted it! I’ve got a girl and a boy, but some things are universal!!

  626. jo wagner says:

I have a tie….. between penis pizza and lemonade syrup.

  627. Sarah Ross says:

    You always make me laugh.
Thanks. Looking forward to reading your book.

The one where you come back to bed and crappy baby is a star fish. (And someone mentioned in the comments that your cat sleeping in front of you when you can’t is like sleep porn.)

  629. Alison says:

I’m not sure I can pick a favorite post, but I was introduce to Crappy Pictures with “cloth diapers, the good things and the crappy things” – a friend who knows I cloth diaper thought I would like the post, and I did! After that, I had to read through all of the archives ๐Ÿ™‚

  634. anna says:

Love the blog and Im sure I will love the book! Especially a signed one ๐Ÿ™‚

  635. Leesa says:

My favorite story is probably the first one I ever read. It was how you sleep! So funny! If I don’t win I’m gonna buy the book anyway and give copies of it to my friends for baby shower gifts:)

  636. Maranda says:

I think one of my favorite posts is the one about eating in a nice restaurant with kids–it is basically exactly how I feel every.single.time we go out to eat. Mommy hardly gets to eat anything because she is busy with the kids, while Dad is just having the time of his life.

  637. Mara says:

Your stories always make me laugh. Often, with tears ๐Ÿ™‚

Hard to pick one, but I like ‘little spider guy’ where you get the live spider dropped in your lap!

  642. Nikkole says:

My favorite is the what my child did while I was in the bathroom ones. Ive come down stairs to so many wonderful things after those three seconds in the bathroom. Even at one point to my two year old son being on the roof. His uncle had apparently missed him walking past him, out the door and climbing up a ladder in the three minutes it took me to walk down the hall and pee.

  643. samantha roach says:

I love the baby turning into a star fish at nighttime! That entire comic strip is so familiar!

I love “Things I Did as a Kid (But My Kids Won’t).”

  645. melanie corbett says:

I’m not sure I have a favorite, as so many have me crying from laughing so hard. Right now I really appreciate anything about potty training, as my almost 2.5yo is slowly moving toward that inevitability.

  646. Jessica Minners says:

My favorite post/ book story is the toddler diaper change. Unfortunately for us, we don’t always remember to pull out the back of the diaper and sometimes end up with the dreaded poo finger.

  647. Hyla says:

My favourite post has been about the deadly playgrounds! I feel the same way taking my 2 year old to some parks!

  648. Hannah says:

I just recently started following so I haven’t read too many of your stories…yet. The ones I have are hilarious and I can totally relate! 655. Diana says:

My favourite story is the one about public toilets for boys vs girls. Love the part about your friend carrying a toilet seat in her purse. My Mom brought a toilet seat for me when I was in the hospital many years ago.

  656. My fav is what it is like to (not) sleep at night. This sums up my nights to a t… especially with hubs peacefully sleeping through it all and then waking up “exhausted”!

  678. Mary says:

My favorite: The Shower – so true, so true

  679. Bettrietta Kime says:

I have laughed out loud at nearly every post on your blog, however two stand out- the “what we see vs what kids see” – the part with the carseat daemon. Also the one where you take the kids to the circus; Crappy Baby gets a lightsaber to “protect himself” from the pie-throwing clown- the entire description of how serious he gets and vows to protect you from the clowns – hysterical.
I’d be wrong not to mention the mother of all posts “When we all get sick”- describes my experience, especially that of my husband, down to a T.
    Thanks for the laughs.

  680. Theresa says:

My favorite is actually fairly recent with the Quickie Window. We have a tub of books that should go to Goodwill, but we keep it around just to block the door with so we at least have a minute to cover up and act innocent if the quickie window ends up evaporating!

  681. Ashley says:

    Such a fan!

  682. Beth says:

I love the one where you took your kids to the party & they get sugar highs & one of them ends up in heels. It’s just such a perfect ‘kids being kids’ moment!

  683. Deborah says:

I’d have to say my favourite one is “Car Seat Hallucinations” because it was the first one I read and how I came to read (and love) your blog!! I also love “Parenting I Quit” and had to share it with all the participants at my work, (I manage a program for pregnant and postnatal women/families). I have never heard them laugh so hard and I encouraged them all to check out your blog, which they have, and which they now tell me they love!!

  684. Kara Andretta says:

Whoa! The amount of scrolling I just had to do to get to this comment box almost froze my phone. Lol! Just evidence if how lived you are by the mommys and daddy’s of Crappyville ๐Ÿ™‚

  685. Robin says:

Wow so many favorites! I think one of my favorites though is the one where you hide the markers but the kids keep getting them. The story of my life lol

  686. Simone says:

My favourite post is the very first one I ever saw – What It Is Like to (Not) Sleep at Night. I’m not one to sit giggling in front of my monitor, but that one had me laughing out loud as I could very much relate to it! I’ve been hooked ever since, and I’m so glad you now have a book! Yay!

  687. Jenifer W says:

I would LOVE a copy of your book!!! So excited!!

  688. I want a copy of this book! My budget is tight so I can’t afford to purchase one right now (same is true for How to be a Dad’s book…why do all my favorite blogs have to release books when I have no money!)

My favorite story is Penis Pizza, I think I laughed for a solid week at that one.

  689. Christina says:

    Sex window for sure!

My favorite is (and I’m not sure of the actual name of the post) the one where there is the perceived version of how your house looks, and the real thing. I had a “I’m not the only one with a disaster for a house!!” moment lol ๐Ÿ™‚

  694. Shafinah says:

My fave Crappy Pictures story is “I Tried On Spanx And Almost Called 911”, I laughed and laughed…. and shared it with my girlfriend whom I’ve shared a lot of dressing room/bathroom hijinks with. Thanks for the laughs! ๐Ÿ™‚

  701. Nicolette Stoddard says:

I just recently came across your blog and I cannot stop laughing! all of the stories are soooooo TRUE!! I love the “When we all get sick” and “What it’s like to sleep (not sleep)” I can truly relate although I only have 1 baby and 1 cat in my life, my favorite is when the baby is up every hour screaming/crying/ talking (“all done Mama”) and the hubby is sound asleep snoring away and then he tells me in the morning “wow she slept good last night!” SERIOUSLY!!!! I give him the “I love you, but don’t have to like you look” and keep feeding/changing/entertaining the baby…..
The humor you use is truly entertaining and makes my insane moments, feel normal ๐Ÿ™‚ I would absolutely love to read your book!!

  702. Melissa says:

I would LOVE to win this! I love your blog and look forward to reading your book!!!

  703. Heather says:

I love “What it’s Like to (not) Sleep at Night”. It explains life perfectly.

  704. Amanda P. says:

Can’t wait to check out your book – love the blog and read it weekly. Favorite post – so hard to say. I regularly laugh until I pee. ๐Ÿ˜€

I can’t believe how spot-on your crappy children are with my crappy children. lol

  705. Jessica McNeely says:

As per the average parent reading your posts, it’s hard not to like all of them!! As one of those rare females that actually loves spiders I giggled quite a bit at the bedtime routine post. Yes I let non-dangerous spiders live in the house (have you looked close enough to SEE how cute jumping spiders are?!), yes Ive had Tarantulas as (beautiful!) pets, and I admit to having a tattoo of my first tarantula, she is orange, blue and green <3. I respect Black Widows and Fiddlebacks as in I'd never personally touch them, though I know some spider breeders that have held them I'll refrain.

But Widows are so beautiful I may have… admired them for extended periods of time.. In a jar… To the disdain of parents while growing up and the unappreciative criticism of hubby when he found her once. >.> Never in the house though! Though there is a certain satisfaction I get to throwing pest bugs like pantry moths, flies and mosquitoes in and watching the Widow in action, hehe.

Cue the horrified looks, disgusted shivers and freakshow reactions from the more average readers ;op

    • amber says:

That’s okay. I forgive you even though you’re a spider weirdo. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (And actually, Crappy Boy is following in your footsteps. He LOVES them.)

  708. Heidi O says:

NOOO!! I don’t have time to go back and re-read all your posts. But I would love to. I think I’ll go with the picture in your book of your whole family peeing on the side of the road.

  709. Caroline Edwards says:

    Loved “turding” one! Hilarious!

  710. Thanks for your generosity!

  711. Heather A. says:

I love all of them, but my latest favorite is Pay Attention! My son is also in that phase now. He likes to do monster truck “shows” for me. Very cute, but I’ve seen about 50 of them at this point and I think I’ve had enough for now!

  712. shona says:

I love all the posts, they make me feel less of a parenting disaster, cleaning with a toddler in the room got me hooked, my 2 boys so often dicks!

  724. Katy C says:

My favorite, and the reason I started loving your blog so much, has to be the story of what it’s like to NOT sleep at night! You had me at the starfish baby!!!!

  729. Amanda Boucher says:

My favourite is Say What? Inappropriately Random
It is my favourite post not because of the post itself (althoug it is darn cute!), but mostly because of all the comments left after the post. I was laughing so hard I cried and woke the baby!

  730. Marcie says:

It’s hard to pick one story, there are so many I can relate to…maybe the ones having to do with potty training/public toilets. I love your blog!

I love the ones with ‘kidspeak’! The things they say crack me up. My 22 month old has erm.. sensitive issues saying the word ‘Frog’ which makes her sound like a vulgar truck driver. (Fruck <– Facepalm) She likes to say 'Frog' loudly. At stores. Other parents must think I have a horrible vocabulary around her, but I SWEAR shes saying FROG.

  754. Sara says:

DRIVING THE CAR & POLICE & GUNS & MOVIES–definitely my favorite!

  755. Joyce says:

My favourite crappy illustrated blog post is the one where Crappy Boy and Crappy Baby gets sick, then you do. Then Crappy Husband does, but it’s a mutated strand and he’s “dying.”

  756. Micki says:

My favorite is the bath time pizza delivery. Nothing like a good chorus of “Penis, Penis!” to get the pizza guy to never come back and DCFS to ring your bell!

  757. Jenga says:

My favorite, Learning From Poop: ‘Help! I’m turding!”

  758. Kimberly says:

There really are so many good ones it is hard to choose a favorite but I have to pick the first one I ever read which got me hooked. It was shortly after my son was born and you blogged about your own sleep deprecation. I love to starfish baby image and dad waking up complaining how tired he is. My husband used to wake up in the morning and ask me if the baby even woke up last night b/c he didn’t hear him – ahhhh, I wanted to kick him. We survived though and are getting ready to do it all over again. I am due with baby 2 in 5 days. Is it sick that I am most looking forward to using my cloth diapers again? I love them!
Thanks for the laughs and congrats on the book!

  759. Melanie Rozwood says:

I don’t know if I have a favorite post. My boys are almost the exact same age as yours so everything you talk about is so accurate and hilarious.

  760. Nicole says:

I would love your book! I’m planning on getting one anyway, but I may as well try for a ubercool giveaway.

    • Nicole says:

And, uh, it’s best if I actually read what I’m supposed to say, right? My favorite story is by far the first one I read– BABY STARFISH!

  761. Amanda says:

  765. Laurie says:

I currently have 3 favorites, “I Quit”, “What it’s like to (not) sleep at night” and the recent one about finding windows. (That’s my husband’s favorite!) Keep up the great work!

  766. Sharon says:

I would love a copy of your book, please!

  767. Andrea says:

I have to pick one favorite? Not fair! I still don’t have my pro-ordered copy. The shipment was lost it something so they have to send it again. And they haven’t done that either! ๐Ÿ™
I like the piรฑata story, and the sleep position one. And really all of them. Even this one! ๐Ÿ˜‰

My favorite is the one where the whole Crappy Family gets sick at the same time.

My favorite is Potty Training Girls vs. Boys (I have boys and this made me appreciate them more than I already do).

  770. jacki says:

Your site is so hilarious….it always brightens my “crappy ” days!!!!

  771. Nicole D says:

I like the one where you and your husband both take naps. That is my life. I also love the one about penis pizza. My kids always scream “SOMEONE’S AT THE DOOR!!!!” whenever anyone knocks. Of course this is a problem because I don’t answer my door. So now the people out there know I’m ignoring them because my children are screaming. Or they look out their window and yell at me. And most of the time they’re in various states of dress. They change outfits 100 times a day I swear. So there they are, half naked, plastered against their bedroom window yelling at me about how someone is at the door. Your blog makes me feel more normal : )

  772. Nicole says:

I love all of your posts! A couple favorites are the cleaning with toddlers post, the spanx post, and shopping at target. They’re all so funny and true especially in our house (I just welcomed girl number 3, 3 weeks ago)

  773. Rebecca says:

My favorite is the “when we all got sick” one. And the next fave is “coffee and wine”.

  774. nicole says:

I love love love your blog! I fell in love after reading the post on nursing all. night. long, and have been an addict ever since.

  775. Darreth Naylor says:

My favorite post is the I quit parenting one, though I’m sure if I went back and looked at all of your posts, I’d find 20 other ones I love more!

  776. Laura says:

My favorite was one of the original ones – the husband getting good sleep while you have a toddler waking you and a nursing baby in your bed – I was in the exact same phase at that time! Loved it!

  777. Lorrie B says:

Favorite post was the “I quit” post – although all are pretty funny and I can relate to almost all of them.
    Nice work!

  778. Marie says:

I love you because I think we we live parallel lives, but I have one more kid (crappy drama girl) and haven’t written a book. Yet.

  779. Lori says:

Wow quite a few commmets! I love reading your posts. It makes me say”yay not just me!” Anyway my Walmart sucks cause I haven’t seen your book! Love it all tho so can’t wait till I can get a copy(hint hint!!)

  780. Cassie says:

    I entered!

I’m fairly new to your blog but i couldn’t stop laughing with the lemonade story!!!! Your blog is the bomb!!

  781. Angie says:

Love your blog and can’t wait to read your book!

  782. Deena says:

I love all of your posts! My day is always brighter for having read them. If I have to pick, I would say the carseat monster. But I’ve not read the Fisher Price talking dog one that several people mentioned. We have had issues with randomly talking toys at my house, so I’ll have to check it out. Would LOVE to get a signed/drawn in copy of your book!!

  783. Laura says:

I love spider-guy! And eating out. So sad. So true.

  784. Emily says:

What’s your favorite story in the book?

  785. Skadi says:

My favorite post … I can remember the one from yesterday where you were headed to the TV station (loved it) … is there one on memory loss after having kids? If so that would be my favorite, if only I could remember.

  786. Amanda says:

So excited for you and all of your success! Having followed your blog for so long, it’s like I’m there but without having to get up at 4:00 am to talk on the radio. Congrats, lady!

  787. Jenna says:

The yogurt from the fridge decision and subsiquent meltdown. I laughed til I cried. I’m fairly certain that post was written about my son, which is why I should win; we’ll call it royalties. ;-D

  788. Meredith Heintz says:

The first blog post I ever read was “What it’s like to not sleep at night” and it’s still my favorite! It took my Crappy-V-Card and I haven’t looked back since. Bless you and your family Amber, you make me smile and laugh out loud even on the roughest of days!

  789. Gina says:

My favorite story was the spider. We have black widows here in Texas and they terrify me! I love your posts and hope to own a book!

  790. Amy says:

It’s hard to pick one but I think I’ll go with the cats pre & post children. My poor cat is neglected and I’m acquiring a distaste for relative’s dogs who bark/lick my daughter. ๐Ÿ˜›

  791. Elissa R says:

It’s hard to decide which post is my favorite! I relate to many, I guess a lot of us moms do. I don’t have your book yet, I’m waiting for a “vacation to Barns & Nobel”, I picture my trip to the bookstore all dolled up, buying a Starbucks once I get there, walk around, find your book, look through it and laugh hysterically on my way to the register! Oh so good! Coffee and no kid to chase after! Well, I might have to hurry out because the hubs might be in the car with a screaming toddler, oh well!

  792. Tara says:

Buddy/Butty made me laugh so hard. We call our son Buddy a lot, so it really hit home. ๐Ÿ™‚

  793. Nanda says:

I love all of them and cannot pick a favorite!

  794. Brandi says:

My favorite of your posts? So hard to pick just one!

But, as an aspiring novelist, I hope to one day feel the thrill of seeing my book in stores as well… and I fear that my kids (6 & 4) will give me the same underwhelmed reaction as yours.

Love your blog, can’t wait until I can find your book in stores! (Seems to be sold out around here!) And congrats on it all!

  795. Merrilee Warholak says:

My entry – love all of your posts, but the first post I read was Parenting and Pet Annoyance – with a dog and 2 cats ourselves (my husband and I that is – not the royal “we”) – it rang so true!

  796. Marie says:

I love you because I think we we live parallel lives, but I have one more kid (crappy drama girl) and haven’t written a book. Yet.
But I love any story about puke.

  797. Jennifer says:

    Toddler Hallucinations
I remember it every day, twice a day when battling to get my son in his carseat! ๐Ÿ™‚

  798. Mindy says:

I love the gifts from children I have done that many times:-( I would love to win the book I am trying to hint to my hubby about getting me it for mothersday!

Oh I hope I win!! I really want a copy of the book but I’m pretty broke at the moment.

How am I suppose to pick a favorite when they’re all my favorites!!

  801. Sarah says:

Toddler diaper changes, because it’s pretty relevant to me right now ๐Ÿ˜‰

  803. Sarah L. says:

My favourite Crappy Pictures story is “Parenting: I Quit”. I have 6 siblings and most have young kids as well so I sent it to my whole family (including my parents) to read cause I thought it was so funny! I love all of your stories though!

  804. Kristen f says:

I am beyond excited about this giveaway! I just love you and you make me laugh every day!

  805. Kasi says:

OMGosh, winning a signed copy would be SO COOL!!! I love reading your posts (so much so that I devoted the time to go through and read them all….I promise I am not a stalker) and get so excited when I find out there is a new one.

  806. Cristin says:

My favorite post was when you first started the blog and discussed potty training. Your friend had let you use her portable toilet seat with her daughter.

  807. Megan says:

So hard to decide! I’ve been thinking of the toddler diaper change one a lot lately, because my 11-month-old is getting really good at flipping over and scrambling away from the changing mat. I also relate to the Target post – I live half a mile from one, in a city, so it’s easy to walk there – can be very dangerous.

  808. Marisa says:

My favorite was Comparing Kids Behavior….
cause you know they really do tag team shit! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And if I win….I’d like a pic of my two kids and me…only I wear black instead of purple. I have two boys the same age as your two boys that do basically the same stuff.
Like yesterday when when I took my Crappy Boy to the dr for a follow up visit and he announced very loudly to the whole office that Mommy has lady diapers in a box on top of the sink.
    Oh yeahhhh

  809. Christina Mariconti says:

Really love this blog, so funny! Hope to win the book giveaway!

  810. Rebecca Mitchell says:

I honestly can’t pick a favourite, they all make me laugh till the tears run down my leg! I do love the cats one, & the one about how your house decor changes, evil sunscreen……… Argh, so many to chose from. ๐Ÿ™‚

  811. Amber Littrell says:

    Hoping to win a copy!!

  812. Kat says:

How to pick a favorite?? I love penis pizza, hypnotized by Target, you taking you frends daughter potty at the public restroom, and adopting your crappy dog (adorable, btw! When you link to the site you got him from, they show adopted dogs and you draw him just like he looks–so cute!)…all your posts are relatable and make me laugh! Thanks~!

  813. Anna says:

I really enjoy reading your blog and having a copy of your book would make my year!

  814. Gundula says:

I love your post “Cleaning with a toddler in the room” because I can so relate to this and because I have ongoing discussions about this with my husband. Thanks for your lift-ups!

  815. Nell says:

My favorite(s) “I tried on Spanx and almost had to call 911” had me laughing SO hard I almost woke up the house. That was also my introduction to Crappy Pictures. I have to also throw in “The Trouble with Nicknames”, because it would be so like my own 6 yr old.

  816. Nicki says:

“Parenting, I quit” is my most favorite and made me laugh so hard in the nail salon, the ladies probably thought I was on something. Oh well. ๐Ÿ™‚ Love your book!!!

  817. Brenda says:

My favorite story will always be the story about trying to sleep at night and not being able to, and my husband always complains that he’s so tired even though he’s slept 11 hours. LOL

  818. Anna says:

The public toilets post is one of my favorites!

  819. jen kitchen says:

I love all your posts, but the quickly window post had me cracking when I read it.

  820. Kate says:

I honestly cant think of a favorite, they are all so funny. “Help! I’m turding!” I’ll go with a favorite quote, haha.

  821. Jeanie S. says:

Love the car show post. And the restaurant post. And how crappy baby wants “down” or “out” at the most inconvenient times. And how you explained the “bedtime routine” to your non-parent readers (and yes, it is a lot worse than it sounds). I haven’t bought the book yet since I can’t seem to get my three boys out the door and down to the bookstore, even after promising ice-cream. Hope I win!!

  822. Rachel Lyon says:

I love “The Trouble with Nicknames” blog post where you call Crappy Boy little buddy.

  823. Nessa says:

My favorite is “Sickness” God knows my hun is the BIGGEST baby EVER when hes sick!

  824. Christy Z says:

Your posts are hilarious – it’s hard to pick my favorite. I shared the one about the quickies with my husband – so I guess that would have to be my favorite thus far. ๐Ÿ™‚ Gotta use that window!

I shared your Crappy baby artist drawing with my neighbor, who’s daughter also likes to draw on everything BUT paper! Always good for a laugh! ๐Ÿ™‚

  828. winona says:

i never thought i would reach the leave a comment box! My favorite is the laundry one because it was my first…although i will be showing my husband the what sleep looks like one tonight after he made the comment that i must be sleeping well because he didn’t hear anything all night. Seriously, after four kids you would think he would know better!

  829. Jennifer says:

I love the “penis pizza” post! (well, I love all of them, but this one is my fave)

  830. Jennifer Haislip says:

My favorite is the car show. Because it’s so perfectly, exactly right, and because it’s nice to know I’m not the only one! I struggle so much between the knowledge that this sort of trial is what any outing will turn in to, and the auto-guilt (ok, AND knowledge that it helps them learn) that allows me to consider such an outing in the first place. Thanks for always making us feel normal, Amber!

  831. Mikayla says:

I love the one about what a toddler sees when you try to put them in a carseat. So true!!

  832. Sarah says:

It is hard to pick one because I laugh whenever I read your blog. But, I would have to say that crappy dog (for some reason I found it hilarious when you described pug dog faces with the word vulva), and the one about eating out with kids. That is the one that brought me to your blog in the first place!

  837. Amanda Price says:

My favorite, hands down, is “Parenting: I Quit.”

  838. Leslie says:

My favorite story from the book is your vacation where Crappy Papa has to pee in a diaper. The visual of you trying to hold the diaper while laughing is still stuck in my mind.

  839. Shannon larosh says:

Favorite blog post ever… Breastfeeding and co-sleeping post. The baby had turned into a starfish is still a phrase I use today. The. Best.

The one about parenting and the playground is the best, in my opinion.

  841. Mandi says:

My favourite is the one about taking the kids to the park. you totally captured it.

Public toilets. I still laugh so hard at that one. I bought a travel potty seat for my girl after reading your post, even before she was potty trained. I still giggle to myself when we go into public restrooms. I tell her to pretend that everything is on fire- no touch! LOL. Love your blog. Even if I don’t win your book, I’ll buy it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  850. Chelsie says:

You want us to pick a favorite?! That’s nearly impossible since you’re so dang funny, but…cat glitter I loved and the buddy/butty thing was super funny cuz a friend of mine has a baby that she calls buddy so I gave her the warning he may grow up thinking she’s been calling him butty this whole time ๐Ÿ˜‰

  851. Katy says:

One of the first posts that I read of yours was the one about cloth diapering and I think it’s still my favorite. I show it to everyone because it’s SO TRUE!!

  858. Kami says:

My favorite, is the one about breast feeding Crappy baby in bed, and Crappy Boy coming in, getting no sleep, and your hubby saying that he is tired. I read it to my husband, and he said, ” of course he’s tired, the kids woke him up!”. LOL!!!!!!!!!! Men ๐Ÿ™‚

  859. Krystal says:

I think my favourite post was the one about what you’d like to say to your kids versus what you actually say ๐Ÿ˜€

  860. Valerie says:

LOVE the spider one and spanx. Who am I kidding I love all Crappy Pictures!

  861. Sugar River says:

This is my go to blog for a laugh during my break at work. However, I have to make sure I don’t laugh too loudly as I get funny looks.

  862. Tara Little says:

I run a day home and am roasting my 2nd baby for another 5 months so let’s face it, I’m rarely put of my pjs enough to get to the book store. But i reeeealy want to read your book ๐Ÿ˜‰ lol.
    Love you

  863. Kylie B says:

I laugh at you (er, your posts) everyday. My favorite is the changing the poopy diaper while you’re other child must have your attention. Last night my 2 yr old told me I was the old lady in Goodnight Moon “cause you are so old Mummy, like her”. Thanks.

  869. amy says:

I dunno if it’s my all-time favorite, but my recent favorite is about The Windowโ€”you know the window (wink, wink). I sent it to my husband (at work) and now we have a new code word. And the first time we used our new super secret code word our kid said the same thing as Crappy Baby, (only in the exasperated, six-going-on-sixteen voice) “Daddy, there is NO window there.” Duh.

  870. Vanessa says:

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE ” Car Seat Hallucinations”! Every. Single. Time. I go to put my 2yo and 6mo DS’s in their seats I think of your post…and try not to pee my pants from laughing.

  874. Brenda says:

It’s hard to pick a favorite, because i generally love them all. But, one that sticks out is the one where you went on a getaway and you met a “pet spider” in the hot tub. lol!

  875. ellen says:

    You are awesome!

  876. Christina P says:

My Fav, and the one I have printed on my wall at work, is the Target one. I can walk into that store with the intention to buy cat litter and walk out with a new outfit for my son, new sheets, towels, plates, everything from the $1 bins, and a frozen pizza. All while forgetting to get the one thing I went in to get. Forcing me to go back and get, some candles, a new hair dyer, some greeting cards that will live in my purse (always comes in handy when I forget it’s a relatives or co-workers birthday), some art supplies, a new necklace and finally Cat litter. Only to go home and realize I’m out of detergent. That’s when I send my husband and he comes back with detergent and a candy bar. Then complains he went in for one thing and came back with half the store.

  877. Alicia says:

Favorite story, there are so many! Honestly, the spanx one, though not kid related, probably made me laugh the hardest.

  878. Charlotte says:

My favorite is the one that got me here in the first place (from the Feminist Breeder). It’s the one where you keep getting woken up by kids, cats and breastfeeding, and then your hubby wakes up claiming to be “so tired”. I can so connect to that story.

Last night, I found my 3 1/2 year old watching movies on Netflix at 2am…

  879. Elizabeth says:

My favorite is “Parenting: I Quit” ๐Ÿ™‚

  880. Becky says:

My favorite is Public Toilets, where you help your friends daughter use the facilities.

I think my fav has always been THE PHENOMENON OF PARENTING AND PET ANNOYANCE. Butt stamp, lol! We have a cat and dog and that term has been used many times in my house since reading that post.

  883. Sarah says:

    I’d love a signed copy!!

  884. XD says:

Phew! Made it to the comment box.
Okay, so my favorite blog story post with awesome crappy pictures is the one where you explain the changing of cranny baby’s diaper. I laughed (a lot) and it made my husband cringe. (He doesn’t do poo. It was the first one I read. I love it. The story. Not the poo. ๐Ÿ™‚

  885. Cindy Clayton says:

My favorite story, hands down, is one of your more recent ones: The Quickie Window. I have since discovered all kinds of places in our home where there is no window . . . this explains so much. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  886. Johanna says:

My favorite story from the blog is when the pizza man delivers pizza and crappy boy is in the tub yelling “penis”.

I laugh at so many of them but I love the public toilet and visit to the doctor’s office… thanks for all the laughs!

  889. Amber says:

Favorite post: Shopping at Target. The post is hilarious, but the italicized paragraph at the end is even better. Especially the part about the Whole Foods toothbrushes smelling like ass. Whenever I need a good laugh, I read it. Actually, I’m going to go read it again right now…

  890. Cass Powell says:

favorite story is a tie between “Coffee and Wine” (OMG that is so ME!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ and the poor pizza delivery man who had to hear “penis, penis, penis!”..I wish you had your blog when my kids were little but I can still are fabulous!

  891. Lena says:

My favorite is definitely the road trip. Crappy Papa peeing in a diaper almost made me need one for myself. Damn you, weakened pelvic floor!

  892. Hannah says:

I have two favorite stories and really can’t decide which I like better so I’m going to mention both ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the “Penis Pizza ” story and also the one about the road trip where you help Crappy Papa use the diaper–I laughed so hard when reading that story that I made my husband read it too & he laughed pretty hard to when reading it!

I think my favorite is the one about how your pictures turn out (from “oh, look at the cute baby” to “I swear the blur is my child, I just can’t make him stand still for a picture”). ๐Ÿ™‚

  894. Kristen says:

I love the one about how Crappy Papa sleeps all night while you are up and down and nursing all night bit Crappy Papa is sooo tired in the morning. It helps me to realize that our situation is normal.

The blog that brought me to you for the first time! The one where you were cosleeping with your littlest boy and he kept splaying out like a starfish, your cats kept waking you up, and you were up all night. And then your DH just HAD to say he was tired in he morning after sleeping soundly. Seriously, most of my nights go like that. But replace 3 cats with dogs. Love that!
And the toddler poopy diaper change post! I lol’d tons!!

Pet spider in the hottub was my favourite

It’s so hard to choose a favourite. I think I’ll go with the recent one about pregnancy announcements, though it was a hard call. The lemonade post nearly had me peeing my pants, so that’s a close second. ๐Ÿ™‚ Congrats on the book release-can’t wait to read it!
