Talking about another blogger’s book today, spreading the love, baby!
This time it is (drumroll please) The Honest Toddler.
I didn’t get a chance to talk to Honest Toddler (too busy) but I was able to talk to Honest Toddler’s mother. And we arranged a little text chat between Honest Toddler and Crappy Baby.
And so on.
(I really did hold up the book to Crappy Baby and ask him what he’d ask the child on the cover of the book. Those were his real questions. He asked about hurting his arm because he accidentally banged his arm on the coffee table right at that moment. He’s since been better at reminding me to give him gummy vitamins after dinner. Hmmmmm.)
But about the book… I loved this book. I really did. I followed my husband around for two days reading him stuff and laughing my ass off and saying, “It’s brilliant!” over and over.
For example, in the section on books (about Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree):
“In this book, a young boy with beautiful overalls kills a tree over the course of many years.”
Or in the section on food:
“Unless you plan on watering down your pinot noir, don’t you dare serve your toddler intentionally weakened fruit beverages. Ruining perfectly good juice by cutting it with lukewarm tap water is disrespectful and shows that you know nothing about friendship.”
And those are just two tiny snippets. It is just so, so good. If you have little ones you will love it.
