I’m still on pause so don’t get excited

Hi there.

It’s been a long time, no?

Why am I on pause? How many bags of money do I make on my books? It’s all here in this interview conversation produced by my dear friend Marisa. That dear friend part is important, because really, only she could have convinced me to do something like this.

Yes, episode 3 of the Creative Thursday interview series is…me.

You even get to see my lizard. That is not a euphemism. (Uh, thankfully.)

You can also watch it here.

This is where I’d normally put a disclaimer. But I don’t need to because there are plenty in the video. So I think we’ll be okay for now.

I just wanted to say that I think that it’s always better to create things for yourself, that are true to how you feel in the moment, and to share if you choose to… and also to not share if that’s what feels right at the time.

Forcing things doesn’t usually work out too well anyway.

    Be well ^^

    ::waving empahtically:: HI!

  3. Missed you! Welcome back(ish)!

Thank you for sharing this! It’s taken me several sittings over several days to get through the whole video, given that I’ve been solo parenting my 4 and 2 year old boys during an epic blizzard while my husband is away. But. It’s been great to see that a) you’re still alive and well b) to learn where else I can follow you online, since I’ve only ever followed you here c) hear your perspectives on the online/fast consumerism culture. I recently read a very thought provoking book called Reclaiming Conversation: the Power of Talk in the Digital Age, and I think this interview conversation is a great antidote to the heavily edited, quick snippet blasts that we are so used to getting online. There are so many topics for which I am nodding my head in agreement and I want to hear more of what you have to say. I love that you are pausing and that you know exactly what that means for you. But I think that you have lots left to share with the world and I’ll look forward to seeing/hearing from you, whenever that may be. Even if it’s when we’re grandmas!

P.S. I’ve never gotten into Instagram but if I have to in order to follow you, so be it. I love the homeschooling and unschooling tags!

It was nice to hear from you again. I miss your stories.

  6. I GOT EXCITED. I did. We’re ready for you to come back now. We need it! Make us laugh so we can bear the daily joys and trails of raising all these crazy children.

–mom of 3 boys with #4 on the way.

ps–seriously. We are codependent and we admit it. Come back.

This video made me feel kinda sad, it doesn’t feel like a pause, it feels like a good bye, especially since this was posted up back in January at the beginning of the year and we’re already at the end of the year now. Oh and wanted to point out that I was part of that 1% that purchased books lol, love your stories! 😀

  11. Clare says:

Please come back! I just saw your blog for the first time and your pics etc are not crappy!! We need more blogger mummies like you.

  12. Hevynn Bolen says:

    Aloha!

I LOVE your perspective and your writing style. I’ve never read anything more down to earth and true! I sincerely appreciate this post and the other hundreds i’ve addictingly read since stumbling on your blog (maybe an exaggeration but I have spent a lot of time on your page!). I just starting dabbling around in the blog business – i write mostly about marriage and relationships but also the struggles of being a small business owner, etc. I would be beyond honored if you stopped by and gave my website a look over!

  14. Awww… just randomly visited in case there was new content. So glad to see your video. I’m a fan – have your book and love to see where your creativity flows next. Somehow missed book #2 – so that will go on my wish list for a purchase treat soon! But I totally love that you are just raising kids, teaching them, and gardening. Follow the joy… I’m a gardener too. 😉

  15. Sarah Johnson says:

not ‘just’… that came out wrong. I meant ‘focused on’…Haha. Those are the most important moments in our lives a lot of the time!!

  16. Lisa H. says:

Guess you’re on a longer break than you thought. Maybe done?
I’m sad your page seems to have been abandoned. It’s happened to other mommy bloggers I’ve followed. Life just happens I guess.

  17. crappyfansosad says:

So you aren’t coming back, are you. I saw your facebook picture updated and I guess that was just to tease us. You suck.

  18. Candace says:

  19. Hannah says:

just so so happy to hear your voice back in this space. can’t wait to tell the husband you’re back! you make our dream of getting the kids out of the city and going rural seem much less crazy. hope we will still get lots of chicken and creek pictures on instagram! I lurk. I never post – and I turned it all off for a long time, but dang – a little bit of connection and sanity and humor, even in virtual form, is good for the soul most days.
    Welcome back!
