What is it about the floor, concrete, dirt, etc. that makes food so much more appealing to toddlers?

  2. Sarah says:

    LOL! Exactly!

  3. Stephanie says:

lmfao We are right in the midst of this with our son so this post made my day, hahaha.

  4. anna says:

🙂 I had three children a year a part, and my mother said to me when they were all very young that the way they acted during meal times made her think that I left them in a room and threw food at them. I laughed, it’s a funny thought, but no, toddlers are just crazy when it comes to food. 🙂

  5. zig says:

omg! this is my son! he asks for it, i give it to him he freaks, i leave it and then he takes it.

  6. Maxine says:

I would by a book of these!! This one made me laugh so hard i wasn’t sure i could stop!

  7. Lisa says:

I agree, you need to publish these! They’re all SO TRUE!!

  8. i’ve always said there’s little difference between a pet and a child…

  9. shawn says:

    hilarious!

  10. expatmammy says:

Absolutely hilarious, I’m just heading into the toddler phase. great post we’ll be stopping by lots.xxxx

  11. This is hysterical. My oldest 2 kids are in grade school so we aren’t going through this right now, but I remember. I also have a newborn so I guess we’re in for it all over again! You should definitely get in touch with a publisher. I’d buy the book and then get a copy for all my friends with kids because it seems like it would be the perfect gift. hahaha

    ROTFLMBO

  13. Cortney says:

I love all your crappy pictures comics! I have an older kid and a toddler and totally, completely relate to every.single.one!

  14. Megan Coates says:

Maybe this is what I need to do to get my daughter to eat something besides baby food >.

  15. Lauren says:

Even truer is that the dog licks it first! Ah well theyve got good immunity as a result. Love yr pics.

  16. Dead on : ) I love it!

  17. Colleen says:

I’ve stopped calling my toddler for lunch since he throws a fit about it. I just set his food out on the table and he comes along and thinks he’s made this great discovery!

  18. Kelley says:

That is so funny and so true! Actually, it’s true for me, too. What’s that on the floor. Mmmmmm!!!

  19. Anna says:

I love this! 😀 It’s so true about my son.

  20. emmamilley.co says:

    You make me laugh!

  21. Angelina says:

LOL, I’ve been doing this with my toddlers for years–er, on the highchair/table, that is, not the floor–if they don’t discover it I mean!

  22. I cannot begin to tell you how often I scream the words “Not off the floor!!”

  23. Athena says:

This is very true …… lmao great pics 🙂

  24. allison says:

That’s funny — I often use the words “fine – you have to eat the ones off the floor first”. Wait, does that make me a bad Mom?

  25. Kate says:

So true! My two year old son will eat anything off the floor. Just this week he refused to even try either ice cream or peaches (both foods he happily ate last summer) but he enthusiastically ate both a crayon and entire mouthfuls of sand (we were at the beach).

  26. Susanna internicolA says:

So true!!! Love the pics! 🙂

  27. Wow. I love your humor. I’m laughing so hard (to myself of course bc I’m sandwiched between my sleeping 6 month and 2 year old – long story), tears are streaming down my cheeks. You must publish these cartoons…

  28. omg, ridiculously true and funny at the same time.

  29. Leeanne A says:

I am a toddler teacher and I am forever saying ‘leave it – not off the floor’ whenever someone drops food. Heck it doesn’t even have to be food! LOL

  30. Jessica Smith says:

I do the same thing, haha.

  31. melby2002 says:

My first LOL moment of the day and it is 10:08 pm. Bless you for making me laugh.

  32. LMAO! this is the ONLY way i can get my 2 year old son to eat ANYTHING other than yogurt and mashed potatoes.

  33. Rena says:

I always figured that their bodies secretly knew that ingesting dirty would build their immune systems!

  34. Kaleigh says:

This must be the terrible 2er because mine does the SAME thing. I have to set her food on the TV stand because she won’t eat it if I try to hand it to her. She’d rather starve.

  35. Diana says:

Your “crappy” illustrations are such a delight and laugh riot finally a mom brave enough to share the events of the day that we all seem to share yet never tell it.. my children i used to give them crackers and theyed throw it on the floor after a while and a ton of wasted food and non eating i started leaving it dont you know not 5 seconds later they run to it like its a great discovery, dinner time is a tantrum in itself even if it was a plate of candy. i have done that very thing in the photo just throw the crackers on the floor so i just loled. i think at there youngest years its a time of self assertiveness doing things on there own and deciding for themselves , i have 5 boys oldest is 13 youngest is 8 months (oh the joy XD) thankyou so much for sharing your pictures have brought many laughs and something to relate too not only to me but my husband as well.

  36. Dutch says:

Oh dear, I have seen this so many times with others and soon I’ll have my own toddler that will do this. My son’s 11 months now, so it will be a while. But your posts actually makes me look forward to this. Ergo: you’re brilliant!

  37. Noisenurse says:

getting our eldest to eat was a fun game: put food in bowl, put bowl on floor (we tried putting it on a table, the results were the same), watch child tip contents of bowl onto floor, child walks away. 3 minutes later child returns and eats newly discovered floor food… asks for more; repeat.

  38. Sarah says:

This is my life right now, with my youngest who is 17 months!!! Thank you for showing me that he is not the only child who prefers to eat from the floor when no one is looking 🙂

  39. Kate says:

Just found your blog. I think I am in love with you.

I have a son that will be 5 in November, and a daughter who just turned 2. I am living this blog along side you.

Take care, and thank you for this. 🙂

    Kate

  40. Karrie says:

    bwahahaha! sooo true!!

  41. Belinda says:

Scenario 3 is that you find some sucker that has set up a kids art class and the kids get to do all the arty stuff you had envisaged, make an almighty mess, and then you leave all that mess for someone else to clean with a clear conscience because you paid $5 for entry. Yeah! Except that I got to really like the lady that ran the art classes we went to and I ended up helping both set up and clean up. That’s ok though, it got me out of the house and I’ve made a nice friend out of it.

  42. Elizabeth says:

Okay I am a little behind but I just found your blog and spend spare minutes back reading back blogs and laughing (silently as to not wake the baby) and trying not to pee my pants…. As the mama of a 1 year old I have to say that this entry is the BEST. EVER! Thank you so much for brightening my day!

  43. If I lay the crackers on a table or highchair my son will throw it all on the floor…then eat it off the floor…like a dog on his hands and knees even though we don’t have one, and then my 3yo will say “momma! can I do that too!?” And that’s on the days he’ll actually eat food. He’d much rather empty his plate and chew on it, eat dirt or chew on our guests shoes. (once again I have no clue where he gets his puppy tendencies)

  44. Shen-Li says:

Oh! So true! If there’s food in the bowl and food on the chair, my son will eat the food on the chair.

  45. Kari says:

No wonder! I’ve been doing this all wrong. I’ll have to try this tonight with dinner!
