Happy Non-Crappy Holidays

happy-holidays-1

We’re gearing up to do things totally unlike what is in that picture.

We don’t even have snow here. I just wanted to draw a snowman.

What we’ll actually be doing is biting the heads of gingerbread man cookies, drinking spiked eggnog and hanging out in front of our fireplace. We have parties to go to and people to see.

And since I’ll be on vacation for a bit, I’ll leave you with thisย video of Crappy Boy, circa December 2008. He was two. We added the subtitles back then for fun.

Eggnog is mentioned so it is holiday related. Or something.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of 2012. See you in 2013!

My 2 year old daughter is in love with your son. We’ve now watched this 5 times. I’m about to get it for not starting it again already.

Hehehe! My two year old daughter is making me play it over and over again too. She’s keeps exclaiming, “That baby can talk and he’s SOOO cute!” What an adorable little man!

  18. CD says:

I’m impressed at your interpretation skills. I have no idea what my two-year old is saying most of the time.

  19. Monica says:

Hysterical! This is like the political bad lip reading videos except he is saying crazy nonsense. I love it. My littlest is 2 now and the language development is thebest. Every day is talk like a pirate day!

  20. Ashinator says:

Clearly, you guys were the original Bad Lip Reading.

  21. Andrea says:

So cute! Makes me miss two!

  22. Felicity says:

Am I suppose to recognize the song? lol But oh is he ever cute!!! I can’t wait for my little man to talk, he has to figure out the whole english/french thing so we still don’t have words and we’re pushing 12 months. I’m trying to remind myself it’s normal ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Liz says:

Pretty sure it is a Crappy Boy original song.

      Oh & also normal!

    • Rachel Blackett says:

Its totally normal, my daughter is almost 2 and doesn’t really have many words under her belt, or doesn’t talk as clearly as many children her age (She has never even said mum or mummy which makes me sad but oh well lol) But she has huge motor skills, and prefered to learn to crawl/walk/run/jump/do roly polys lol rather than sit down and read a book with us, its only in recent months she will do that. So I have to keep reminding myself that she may not be very advanced in talking but she is advanced in so many other things, and eventually she will catch up, even if its with a little help from a therapist lol

    • Mercy says:

Most kids don’t say more than a few words by 12 months. My son only said 5 words until he was 2 1/2. By comparison my girls were early talkers and spoke quite well by 1 1/2. Any time in there is normal.

    • Devan says:

It’s normal. Same happened to me and now at 3 mine is a smart little chatterbox. I can’t get her to be quiet! ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. MG Coffee says:

Other people’s baby videos are a special kind of torture that should be used as an “enhanced interrogation technique” at Gitmo — except for this one, which is at the tippity-top of the awesome scale.

  24. Bethany says:

I think I the only response I can really give to that is: awwwwwww! Well, that’s not quite true, I can lol too.

  25. Kate says:

Good lord that was impossibly cute! Love the kisses and the statement afterwards that he doesn’t like kiss, lol

  26. Jeanna says:

    Adorable! What a peanut!

  27. Sarah says:

    Omg, SO cute!
Merry Christmas to you and your family. xox

  28. Carol says:

What is with the corn? That made me LOL!

    • amber says:

The corn actually has an explanation. He originally had a wooden ear of corn (play food) that he used as a microphone forever. He carried it everywhere. He had JUST gotten that real microphone as a gift for his 2nd birthday but he still called it “corn”. So when he accidentally hit it at the end, he was concerned and said “corn” meaning “microphone”.

Although just simply being passionate about corn is much funnier. So we can pretend that is what it was.

      • Erin says:

CORN! love it! so many uses for corn….

      • Briony says:

My son used to use one of my hair brushes for a microphone. It was one of those round ones with lots of bristles for blow drying hair – so I would only want to use it about once a week, which I invariably couldn’t as I couldn’t find it… but I can see how it looked like a microphone.

        Merry Christmas Crappy Family!
        (including both cats!)

  29. Patty says:

I love the ending OH, OH, Corn. ๐Ÿ™‚

All my two year old does is get naked and jump on the couch.

    • amber says:

      Naked couch jumping is underrated.

      • Amy says:

My twin sons are almost 7! I miss 2 and naked couch jumping. (now its gross I know too much) I have a 3 year old and 8 month old but daughters are totally different!! In a good way but I miss when the guys were little.

  39. Kristin Gail says:

I cannot crying. Read every comment, the laugh-induced tears simply will not stop. Haven’t laughed this hard in years. Ohmgod, now I think I’m crying for a completely different reason. Ohgod. Happy holidays!

  40. Nicole says:

SOOOOO cute. Our little guy is only 14 months and we still just hear mumbles…not actual works yet.

  41. Adorable! He’s the whole package-looks, brains, and talent! Thanks for posting.

Supposedly I used to make songs up like that in the age before online video (and videocassettes and stuff). I could have been viral before I was old enough to read. But your boy is way cuter than I think I ever was. ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Holidays!

  42. Madeleine says:

I love it! Singing with passion! I loved the shaking head part about not writing songs. Lovely boy!

  43. Melissa says:

    Can’t.Stop.Laughing.Tears.
I just made my coworker come to my desk and watch this! She loved it and doesn’t even have kids.
I felt like he was singing Up on the Rooftop perhaps?

  44. Clodia says:

    Happy Holidays!

That video is too cute! Plus, I’m pretty sure that my 1 year old thinks that that is the best song in the world, lol! He heard Crappy Boy singing and hurried over to watch, then yelled at me to play it again 4 times, hehe.

  45. Theresa says:

Too funny, I’m in tears! (Love the subtitles!!)

  46. Jen May says:

    Holy crap! That’s funny!!

  47. Alex says:

My first thought when looking at your card was that you were in MN for the holidays ๐Ÿ™‚ Beheading gingerbread men sounds just as good though :)))

  48. wendy says:

At first glance going through my newsfeed I thought “Awwww, crappy baby is out in the snow in just a diaper”… ๐Ÿ˜‰ LOL!

    Happy Holidays ๐Ÿ™‚

  49. Mary Kate says:

Mmmm yeah I voted! Soooo funny!! I had to watch this a couple of times.. too cute! Needed that laugh this morning!

  50. Melissa says:

Ok, this might be a dumb question: did he make that up on the fly??? At first I was really impressed that he could memorize this song and then I heard him say ‘I don’t memorize no songs’. Either way, it’s genius and I think any gangsta rap artist would hite him in a fast minute to bust some free styles! More!!!

    • amber says:

Yes, it was just a string of randomness. He often made up “songs” like that. Still does, though now they rhyme and make sense!

  51. Meggie says:

I’m so glad he doesn’t write hate songs! So many toddlers have that bad habbit these days!

  52. kimberly says:

Adorable! He already has my 3yr old as his fan : )

  53. Greg says:

Awesome … one more reason I want to party with you guys!

  57. Kaytee says:

Like a bad fan, I wasn’t going to watch until I saw all the comments lauding the adorableness. You guys did not lead me astray! Happy holidays Amber and Crappy Family!

  58. M.J. says:

L-O-L!!! OMG He’s so funny! Loved this because he’s just adorable. What did he vote on? His right to have apple juice at 4 p.m.? hehe So sweet!

  59. Mandy says:

OMG SO CUTE!!!! I love the subtitles too btw. Awesome interpretation work. I have no idea what my little Elijah says at all yet lol

  60. Sara says:

lol so cute! loved the kisses (that he hates??!!) hahaha

  61. joy says:

Here’s a little bit of surreal… my 1 year old started dancing to Crappy Boys song. He totally gets it.

  62. Lisa says:

SO adorable and hilarious!!! Funny, we are just now going through some old videos too, and can’t believe how much time has gone by. It’s just amazing how fast this whole childhood thing goes… everyone was right. Long days, fast years. That’s how I see it anyway!

  76. Wendy says:

Ha! My favorite was also the ..oh..oh..corn
    Too cute!

  77. Oh man! My little guy doesn’t make up songs, that is too too cute.

We did make gingerbread and he was a straight thief stealing legs, arms, and heads from the uncooked gingerbread boys any time I moved or turned away. When it was time to finally eat them, he carried his around for an hour, slowly nibbling.

  78. Nicole MacRae says:

Amazing! where can I buy the single? When is the album coming out?

  79. Ceri says:

that was awesome! My son was not speaking at that age so it’s just amazing for me to watch a young little person sing and speak the words so well!

  80. Heather says:

    Awesome.

  81. Gaylin says:

  83. Elizabeth V. says:

Too funny. Oh, and just so you know . . . I voted too!

  84. Sabrina says:

Loved this!! Are those kisses (kissing sounds) he’s making between the “verses?” Too cute!!

  85. Alicia says:

Happy holidays to you and your lovely/ crazy family. Hope your 2013 is amazing! Corn!

  98. Erin says:

Tears are streaming down my face! Too precious!

  99. Sara says:

So complete impressed with his mad creative skills!! That brain is gonna support you later in life! Keep up the positive reinforcement!

  100. Jen says:

My 20 month old kisses the computer when Crappy Boy kisses the camera. I think she’s in love.

  101. slightlytilted says:

    Best song EVER!!!!~ ^_^

  102. Shelley West says:

My 2 year old recently started singing nonsense songs like this. I should so add subtitles!

  103. Kylee says:

    Best. Song. EVER!!!

favorite line… “Oh, Oh, Oh, Corn”

  104. Franca says:

awesome video! I can’t believe he did that on the fly! and he has so many words. my daughter is 26 months and sings a lot but a lot of nonsense.
still, the most impressive part? how YOU didn’t laugh throughout the whole thing. I don’t think I would have been able to contain myself during all that cuteness! bravo!

  105. Kara says:

OMG you don’t even know how bad I needed that loud ass belly laugh today! Crappy boy is totally adorbs with his mid-verse kisses. The subtitles rock!

  106. Juanita says:

That is the BEST crappy song I have ever heard, and I love you for sharing!!. love, love, love.

  107. Barbara says:

That. Was. Awesome. Makes me want to put a camera on my youngest (who just turned two) when she’s jabbering away “singing” and then try to interpret the lyrics like you did. Awesome sauce.

  108. Tiff says:

That is so full of awesome…

  109. Christine says:

He is so freaking adorable!!!! “Corn” LMAO. I love the kisses too. So sweet.

  110. Natasha says:

My 21 month old tried to sing along and kept asking to see it again. I’m not quite sure if “thanks” is the right thing to say, but I’ll say it anyway.

I’m late to the party, but it’s kind of like discovering a TV show you love that has already been out for a few seasons. You get to enjoy the reruns en mass, and it’s actually quite glorious.

  111. Scotia says:

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Corn

  112. Anne_Hedonia says:

This video is so great that – just to avoid actually exploding – I had to sit there going “YEAH, OKAY, but I seem to have heard something about a circular thingie that you interrogated your mother about whether it looked like a pirate sword or not, and THEN I do believe you FLANG it in her FACE”.

I mean, I literally did that. Tried to talk myself down from being overcome by adoration of Crappy Boy and his song. I think the uber-expressive Joe-Cocker-ness of it is what slew me most – the eloquent head-shake of “I don’t write songs”.

Also, dude, hog all the gorgeous eyebrows, why not!!

  113. Starla says:

So adorable! “Oh, oh, oh, corn”. My favorite lyric. =D
