Blogkeeping: UBP13 Hey, it’s a Party

This is a blogkeeping post. A what? Announcements and such.

Have you heard of the The Ultimate Blog Party 2013 at 5 Minutes for Mom? Or have you been seeing tweets with the hashtag #UBP13? Well, if you follow through you may have noticed that Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures is the feature sponsor of that #UBP13 event.

The Ultimate Blog Party is brought to you in part by…
Crappy Pictures Book

WTF is the Ultimate Blog Party? I’ll tell you. Also, you’re invited.

My friends Susan and Janice are throwing a giant virtual party for the 7th year in a row.

Basically hundreds of bloggers write “party posts” on their own blogs where they introduce themselves and their sites and they all link up in what becomes a fantastic blog directory built in just one week.

Plus, it’s a PARTY and you can drink but you don’t even have to shower or put a bra on.

I guest posted for 5 Minutes for Mom back in August 2011. If you missed it back then, it’s Why Being a Mom Makes Me Suck at Twitter

Which is ironic, considering I’ll be hanging out at the #UBP13 Twitter party on Monday night at 9pm Eastern (6pm Pacific). They’ll be giving away 2 copies of my book. Come hang out with us! (Just follow hashtag #UBP13)

They’ll also be giving away 3 more copies of my book on Tuesday night at the UBP13 Google+ Hangout.

Wanna come?

PS – they are also giving away $20,000 worth of rad stuff. And this is an awesome way to “meet” other bloggers and support each other. Did I mention you don’t have to leave your house?

FIRST!!! He he. I’m totally in :”)

  2. Avril says:

Well since I just started blogging like yesterday this sounds like a very good idea. I’m in 🙂

  3. Cheryl says:

I have a page on Facebook. Not really a blog but does it count? I’m thinking about turning it into a blog.

  4. Robin Jingjit says:

I missed that twitter post last time. I’m totally not clever enough for twitter. I’m barely clever enough for Facebook, but that doesn’t stop me from putting up pictures of my kids. 🙂

    • Emily says:

It’s cool… You’re clever enough to use the word clever. I don’t hear that often enough, so that makes you rock pretty hard in my book. Can I appropriately guess that you’re not American?

  5. I was excited to see your book being given away – very cool that you sponsored so many copies..see you at the twitter party

  6. Michelle Q says:

Is it lame I was just googling for some kind of link-up thingy and I checked Facebook and here this was? I don’t really know what to expect but I can totally handle the dress code. Thanks!

  7. Jessica says:

Put me down for four spots incase we want seconds!

  8. Andrea says:

I wonder if virtual margarita is allowed in pregnancy – ha! Sounds harmless, no? I am very tempted (by booze, but I mean by the #UBP13 now) and will make proper arrangements to be there! Yoga pants – check! Not showering – succeeding more than I care to admit. Meeting and supporting other bloggers – yes, please! Thanks for heads up!

  9. Katja says:

I don’t blog, I just follow yours, but a party that doesn’t require a shower OR wearing a bra would totally be one I could make. 🙂

  10. Nicole says:

Ok, I’m totally a dork, but how do you twitter-party? I have a twitter account, but don’t really know how to use it…

  11. Ha, a party at 3 am (yes, I’m in Europe). Who knows I might be able to make it if my kids time their nightly wake-ups correctly! 😉

  12. I was sold at, “not having to leave the house.”

  13. Carrie R says:

    I don’t have to wear a bra?!! Done!! I’m there 🙂

  14. Alison says:

I’m so unskilled at participating in these Twitter parties. I think i need remedial lessons or something, because my mind goes blank whenever I start reading all the other tweets going by and all I can think to do is retweet other people, but that’s pretty lame, and then I panic and give up and go watch HGTV instead.

    But I’ll try again.

    • Andrea says:

Haha Alison – that’s why I feel about Twitter in general. And even when I come up with a brilliant comment, it then doesn’t fit into 140 characters. Oh well…

  15. Cathy Spindler says:

I just kindle purchased the book! Your begging worked!

  16. Megan Smith says:

i am beyond happy you said rad. i’ve been trying to bring back rad!

    • Samantha says:

Hubby looks at me like I’m from another planet and tells me I’m the only person alive who uses the term rad. I KNEW he was wrong!!

  17. Kristen P says:

Yes, but is it a party for Brobee?
Ear worm: it’s a party, it’s a party for Brobee!

  18. Victoria K says:

But I like putting on a bra and leaving the house!

  19. Anna Dean says:

I just got my book all the way down under! Read half of it already, thanks for the laughs.xx

  20. Di says:

I just read the guest post from 2011. Word, sister. I wonder sometimes why I give a crap about f/b, for the very same reason.

  21. Carly says:

I bought, well ordered, your book!!!! In australia 🙂
Nothing to do with this post I know, just thought you might like to know. It’s not in the book stores here but my local bookstore have ordered it for me, can’t wait til it gets here!
PS have fun at the party, sorry I can’t make it, time difference and all.

  22. I love parties! and specially when it comes to virtual parties, they rock…

  23. sanj says:

Uh oh, my Old Person Card just arrived by mail. What exactly is Twitter? And how would one participate? Can I do it by using this little phone that has internet access?

  24. Jennifer says:

Just wanted to say how jazzed I am – I just received my copy of P: IwCP in the mail yesterday! I started reading it (you know, in the bathroom) and just laughed and laughed. Thank you!

  25. Hillary says:

I love your blog, but sometimes the language you use makes me cringe. Could you clean it up a bit for your mom readers that don’t want to read you swear like a sailor? But I still love the blog 🙂
